I've QR/scanned direct to the driver's own bank instead of cash and I'd be surprised if most of them don't accept that method. I also have BBL, KTB, UOB KBank and Krungsri cards on my Grab payment method list all of which operate normally.

So far there has been no evidence whatsoever produced that would rationally lead to that conclusion. Wild speculation from all the usual suspects is not "obvious" evidence.
