So far, it's only if you don't retract, we will sue. Per the above: Troye on X said she stands by her statements. -

Patel has threatened legal action over remarks, former Pence aide says 12/05/24 9:48 AM ET Kash Patel, President-elect Trump’s pick to lead the FBI, has threatened legal action against a former aide to ex-Vice President Mike Pence over her comments criticizing Patel, the aide said. Olivia Troye, a former counterterrorism aide to Pence who has become a vocal critic of Trump, on MSNBC earlier this week said Patel would “lie about intelligence” and “lie about making things up on operations,” going as far to say he “put the lives of Navy SEALs at risk.” In a letter sent to Troye’s counsel that she posted on the social platform X, an attorney for Patel called the statements defamatory and demanded Troye retract them or face legal action. “This is a complete fabrication, and you know it is false by virtue of your former position in the White House,” Jesse Binnall, Patel’s attorney, wrote in the letter. https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/5023916-patel-fbi-legal-action-troye/ -
Looks like the key vote will be from Senator Joni Ernst Republican from Iowa.

From the linked article above: Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, issued a statement noting that Hegseth, who has denied wrongdoing, has not been charged with any crime. “President Trump is nominating high-caliber and extremely qualified candidates to serve in his administration,” Cheung maintained.

Retirement Extension Phuket
jerrymahoney replied to Rig Pig's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Last year when my deposit document from Bangkok Bank listed 14 FTT transactions it caused great perplexity for the IMM official. I decided to not let that happen again. You can do as you like. -

Use a different account or an ATM. Last time that happened to me they spent time at immigration office trying to figure out which deposits were pertinent for the 65K requirement. -
Retirement Extension Phuket

I will add these caveats which should apply to ANY office for 65K monthly deposit extension regime: Make sure you update your passbook as soon as possible following you monthly deposit so that passbook activity is not 'merged' Do not have any FTT deposits (or any deposits) to your account so that there are 12 FTT deposits only in your deposit statement. The 12-month FULL statement is for the 800K crowd to show that minimum balances were maintained whether for 800K or 400K. There are no such requirements to maintain any account balance for the 65K method. Ask your immigration office if you can dispense with this silly requirement for the 65K crowd. -

KASH PATEL, FORMER CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF DEFENSE: We will go out and find the conspirators, not just in government, but in the media. Yes, we're going to come after the people in the media who lied about American citizens since, who helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections. We're going to come after you whether it's criminal or civilly. We'll figure that out. But, yes, we're putting you all on notice https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/cnr/date/2024-11-30/segment/07 -
Back to topic heading, in the upcoming Senate session, there will be 3 GOP Senators who voted for conviction in the Trump Impeachment #2. Conviction implies: Article I, Section 3, Clause 7 provides that the sanctions for an impeached and convicted individual are limited to removal from office and potentially a bar from holding future office, but an impeachment proceeding does not preclude criminal liability. So, the 3 GOP Senators, by their impeachment guilty vote, have stated that Mr. Trump should have been barred for any future Federal office. ... and coincidentally the GOP Senate majority for the next session has a majority of 3.

REDUX 11/15/24 4:30 PM ET Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), who was elected Republican leader this week, hasn’t ruled out recess appointments, but he has also acknowledged they could be procedurally difficult to achieve if there is enough GOP opposition. (my italics) “All this is a process. But I don’t think any of those things are necessarily off the table. I think we have to have all the options on the table,” Thune told Fox News. “And these nominees deserve their day in court. They deserve a hearing, a confirmation hearing, an opportunity to be vetted,” he added. “And the Senate will perform its constitutional role under advise and consent.” https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4993461-trump-cabinet-5-takeaways

Maybe the most interesting time near-term is JAN 6 to JAN20 2025 when Congress esp. the Senate is in session prior to Trump's inauguration.

GOP senator takes cautious approach on Kash Patel 12/01/24 10:44 AM ET Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) took a cautious approach to Kash Patel, President-elect Trump’s nominee to serve as head of the FBI, highlighting his support for current FBI Director Chris Wray. “I think the president picked a very good man to be the director of the FBI when he did that in his first term,” Rounds told ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday. Wray was nominated by Trump in 2017 to serve a 10-year term leading the FBI. Trump’s announcement on Saturday indicated he plans to fire Wray and replace him with Patel, a staunch and loyal ally and controversial figure. “Once again, the president has the right to make nominations, but normally these are for a 10-year term. We’ll see what his process is, and whether he actually makes that nomination,” Rounds said. “ https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5016379-gop-senator-takes-cautious-approach-on-kash-patel/

Collins calls draft Roe opinion ‘completely inconsistent’ with what Gorsuch and Kavanaugh said during hearings and meetings Updated 5:57 PM EDT, Tue May 3, 2022 “If this leaked draft opinion is the final decision and this reporting is accurate, it would be completely inconsistent with what Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh said in their hearings and in our meetings in my office,” Collins said in a statement. “Obviously, we won’t know each Justice’s decision and reasoning until the Supreme Court officially announces its opinion in this case.” Asked if she was misled by Kavanaugh, Collins told CNN, “My statement speaks for itself.” “We talked about whether he considered Roe to be settled law. He said that he agreed with what Justice Roberts said at his nomination hearing in which he said it was settled law,” Collins said at the time after meeting with Kavanaugh. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/05/03/politics/susan-collins-reaction-kavanaugh-gorsuch/index.html NB GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski (AK) said much the same elsewhere.

Grassley: Patel must prove he will restore public trust in FBI - 12/01/24 10:11 AM ET Grassley suggested he was happy to see Trump replace FBI Director Chris Wray, who Trump nominated to lead the law enforcement bureau after he fired former FBI Director James Comey. But Grassley stopped well short of saying he would definitively back Patel’s nomination. Republicans hold 53 seats in the Senate, meaning Trump and Patel can afford three defections, assuming Democrats are unified against the pick. https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5016354-grassley-patel-fbi-nomination

There is now (or will be) a 3 Republican Senate majority. There are now also 3 Republican senators who voted for Trump's impeachment conviction. Whoda thunk?
