Republicans win control of the US House of Representatives

No. As someone living in Thailand full time, I had no idea in 2016 to the extent people in US felt disenfranchised and disaffected such that Trump won. This year I am not so surprised Per Willie Nelson in Electric Horseman: Wendall : I'm gonna get me a bottle of tequila and find me one of them Keno girls that can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch and just kinda kick back. -
With apologies to Reinhold Niebuhr: Give me the wisdom to know what can be changed, and the wisdom to know what can't be changed and screw the rest.

With both the civil fraud /James case and the criminal 'hush money' / Bragg case of the 34 convictions, I was critical on here that the cases were ill advised and only could say so as there were not plenty of otherwise left-leaning legal scholars and former prosecutors who had problems with the case itself, whether it should've been brought or not. e.g. January 30, 2024 (per the NY State civil fraud trial) An Associated Press analysis of nearly 70 years of civil cases under the law showed that such a penalty has only been imposed a dozen previous times, and Trump’s case stands apart in a significant way: It’s the only big business found that was threatened with a shutdown without a showing of obvious victims and major losses. https://apnews.com/article/trump-fraud-business-law-courts-banks-lending-punishment-2ee9e509a28c24d0cda92da2f9a9b689 -

What Donald Trump’s Win Means For Inflation November 11, 2024 3:08 PM EST Donald Trump may have won the presidency partly because voters were fed up with inflation. But if he enacts many of the policies he proposed on the campaign trail, voters may see prices continue to rise, according to economists, analysts, and business owners. “There’s a lot of inflationary pressure in his promises,” says Simon Johnson, one of the 2024 winners of the Nobel Prize in Economics and a professor at MIT’s Sloan School of Business. Put together, economists say his proposals could drive up the costs of apparel, toys, appliances, and food. https://time.com/7175083/donald-trump-presidency-inflation/

Thank you, Steven Cheung -- it's been a pleasure.

I haven't tried and it really makes no difference. The only operative thing is the extent to which contributors to the Project will be in the new administration. It's no secret. And they are entitled to serve if chosen and in some cases confirmed by the Senate.
-
Since as noted above approximately 140 of the contributors to the Project 2025 doc served in the prior Trump administration and would likely be considered for the new administration, I don't see that anything has been refuted. The election is over. Trump won. Harris lost. Now comes the small matter of running the government.

No I commented on this back in April 2024 https://aseannow.com/topic/1325922-why-the-hush-money-case-against-donald-trump-is-on-shaky-ground/page/3/#comment-18873251

I was just replying to the post above that Trump never-heard-of Project 2025. JD Vance wrote the Foreward to the 2023 version: Ohio Sen. JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, praised the vision of Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts in the foreword of a forthcoming book that could conflict with the Trump campaign’s effort to distance itself from Heritage’s Project 2025 transition effort. https://apnews.com/article/jd-vance-foreword-heritage-foundation-project-2025-a34d091fd401056c938c8897c1ebabd6 However the current version on the Heritage Foundation website has a forward by Kevin Roberts with no mention of Vance, anywhere.

Trump claims not to know who is behind Project 2025. A CNN review found at least 140 people who worked for him are involved Updated 2:45 PM EDT, Thu July 11, 2024 Donald Trump has lately made clear he wants little to do with Project 2025, the conservative blueprint for the next Republican president that has attracted considerable blowback in his race for the White House. “I have no idea who is behind it,” the former president recently claimed on social media. Many people Trump knows quite well are behind it. Six of his former Cabinet secretaries helped write or collaborated on the 900-page playbook for a second Trump term published by the Heritage Foundation. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/07/11/politics/trump-allies-project-2025/index.html

One can say that there are "sore losers" on here some only by their absence. But there is also a term "gracious winner" and not too many of those on here either.

More than 200 Bush, McCain, Romney aides endorse Harris
jerrymahoney replied to jerrymahoney's topic in Political Soapbox
Well you never can tell -- Cabinet officials and a lot of other positions require Senate confirmation and, even with a Republican majority, the Senate may not be willing to confirm (i.e. rubber stamp) some of his desired but lesser qualified appointments -

You are right -- "It's the economy, stupid" seemed to override any of the concerns expressed by those former Republican officials. We will see if those who saw those economic issues to be the most important voting decision factors get what they wanted. -

The NY State fraud trial against Trump was a civil case -- there was no grand jury. And he was found liable for damages -- not "convicted" as in a criminal trial. -
