  1. Biden said per NY Times headline 5 JULY: A Defiant Biden Says Only the ‘Lord Almighty’ Could Drive Him From the Race Per the Repubs in Milwaukee this past week, Lord Almighty has already intervened. For the other guy.
  2. WelI don't know about God -- but for the Dems, Nancy Pelosi may be as close as they get and the headline this AM NY Times: ANALYSIS Pelosi, Long Fixated on Winning, Is in No Mood to Lose With Biden
  3. OK -- and just to add I was generally pleased with CIGNA although I had no claims. The problem was when I moved to an area with no direct payment hospital and the way they chose to deal with that circumstance I found not acceptable.
  4. But according to your wording, they 'usually' don't.
  5. This is from my CIGNA Global UK policy issued by CIGNA (Life) Belgium The accompanying verbiage: The overall medical benefit limit per year of insurance per member is 1000000 USD
  6. The only US account I have where that is doable is an IRA account. I have a modest Thai life insurance account to get cash into my wife's hands as easily and quickly as possible. No probate required.
  7. The only thing in Thailand that equates what is called a "Payable upon death" account in the USofA is a Thai life insurance policy.
  8. To the above: Jack Smith will appeal initially to the 11th Circuit in Atlanta. The decision by Judge Cannon mainly deals with the provision of Mr. Smith's appointment as a Special Counsel while a private citizen or -- ORDER GRANTING MOTION TO DISMISS SUPERSEDING INDICTMENT BASED ON APPOINTMENTS CLAUSE VIOLATION
  9. I don't pay my wife. She now has a good job for her expenses. I pay in part the court and creditor fees from, after having a good job before, when she co-signed loans for her Thai boyfriend who split and left her with all the bills after she lost her job upon COVID. All long before getting married.
  10. When reading his stuff I often think of the 1980's shampoo ad: “Don't Hate Me Because I'm Beautiful”
  11. How Trump’s Plan to Secretly Meet With the Taliban Came Together, and Fell Apart Published Sept. 8, 2019 Updated Aug. 29, 2021 In the days that followed, Mr. Trump came up with an even more remarkable idea — he would not only bring the Taliban to Washington, but to Camp David, the crown jewel of the American presidency. Before the end of the meeting, Mr. Khalilzad brought up the idea of a Taliban trip to Washington. Taliban leaders said they accepted the idea — as long as the visit came after the deal was announced. But little was made of that at the time. The endgame of the talks seemed near, if not the timetable. Only then came Mr. Trump’s tweets on Saturday night disclosing that he had invited the Taliban and Mr. Ghani to Camp David — but called it off, citing the bombing. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/08/world/asia/afghanistan-trump-camp-david-taliban.html
  12. s I remember this: Ex-Prosecutor Flags Hope Hicks' Testimony As 'Body Blow' To Trump In Hush Money Trial Updated 4 May 2024· Former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann weighed in on Hope Hicks’ “devastating” testimony Friday after the ex-Donald Trump spokesperson broke down in tears during the presidential candidate’s hush money trial in New York. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/ex-prosecutor-flags-hope-hicks-094804982.html ******** Ms. Hicks White House testimony in 2018 is part of what the Trump team says should be thrown out. The motion also involves testimony and documents provided to the Grand Jury before the indictment.
  13. REDUX May 29, 2023 Vice-President Harris in some (many?) ways has a situation similar to Vice-President Harry Truman in 1944 https://aseannow.com/topic/1296163-desantis-says-wife-would-be-on-magazine-covers-‘if-she-were-a-democrat’/?do=findComment&comment=18110885
  14. OK. I thought YouTube is blocked in China if that's where you are. If you really got stuck I was going to offer to make an mp3 of the Presser which you could download from here or PM. Transcripts are always subject to opinion when dealing with a mumbler -- the NY Times and the White House are still venting on "goodest" vs. "good as" which is still jumbled anyway.
  15. Here's the video. Watch it yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfV9OpGaja8
  16. Well it's a little early for a transcript but this from the NY Times: THE EDITORIAL BOARD To Serve His Country, President Biden Should Leave the Race June 28, 2024
  17. From NY Times: After initially reading from a teleprompter then repeating his vow to stay in the race, Mr. Biden tried to defuse some questions about his age and fitness for office, but at one point fumbled a question about Vice President Kamala Harris, saying that he “wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president” if he didn’t have confidence in her. That came shortly after he introduced President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine as “President Putin” at a NATO meeting Personally, whatever coherency was exhibited today, this is a 4-year job starting JAN 2025.
  18. It seems they want a review on taxes paid or not paid on gifts and forgiven loans.
  19. If you use the 65+K per month retirement protocol, they have most all that info anyway.
  20. That's the rub -- up until the debate, the media was almost All Trump All the time: Stormy Daniels and his criminal trial in NY, the Fani Willis peccadillos, Judge Aileen Cannon rocking the boat in Florida, Jack Smith not being so nimble in Washington DC, etc. Trump really had no primary competition save Ms. Haley's tepid attempts. And Trump left little media oxygen in the room for Biden and his nanny Dr. Jill.
  21. Even if he were deemed 'OK' today, this is a 4-year job starting JAN 2025
  22. NYTimes this AM: Pelosi is the most senior Democrat to signal he could still drop out. Here’s the latest. President Biden on Wednesday faced a fresh wave of pressure to end his campaign or rethink his decision to run for re-election, as Democrats from Hollywood to Capitol Hill aired grave concerns that he is set to lose to former President Donald J. Trump in November and drag his party’s chance of controlling Congress down with him. Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the former House speaker and a longtime Biden ally, gave the strongest public signal yet that Democrats are still divided on Mr. Biden’s insistence that he is staying in the race, saying that “time is running short” for him to make a decision. Also ABC anchor apologizes: The ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos was surreptitiously recorded on Tuesday saying that he did not believe that Mr. Biden could handle another term in office. Mr. Stephanopoulos publicly apologized later, saying he shouldn’t have “responded to a question from a passerby.” Biden will sit for another major network interview on Monday with NBC. The president will tape an interview with the NBC News anchor Lester Holt on Monday in Austin, Texas, the network said on Wednesday. NBC plans to air the interview “in its entirety” that evening at 9 p.m. Eastern, a similar prime-time placement as ABC’s interview with Mr. Biden that aired last Friday. Mr. Biden has been under pressure from allies to appear in more unscripted settings with journalists, to show that his poor performance at last month’s debate — where he at times struggled to deliver cogent statements — was, as he has argued, merely one “bad night.” In its announcement on Wednesday, NBC took pains to say that it would also release “the full interview and unedited transcript” of Mr. Biden’s appearance with Mr. Holt. The transcript of Mr. Stephanopoulos’s interview became the subject of a kerfuffle over the weekend, after the White House urged the network to change the word “goodest” to “good as” in its initial transcript of Mr. Biden’s remarks; after its own editorial review, ABC agreed.
  23. Some of this sounds right out of the Ron Burgundy movie (2004): HELEN (leaning in) Well here's some information that you can choose to use or not use. Ron Burgundy will read anything that's put on that teleprompter. And I mean anything.
  24. And the only one who fits that criteria is billionaire Governor J.B. Pritzker of Illinois who have stated "not me".
