via NY Times April 1, 2024Updated 4:04 p.m. ET One question surrounding Trump Media is whether the company’s board will relax a provision that prohibited Mr. Trump from selling stock or using his shares as collateral for a loan for six months after the shares began trading. But in Monday’s filing, the company said the board made no changes in the lockup provision. That makes it unlikely Mr. Trump will rely on his stake of about 60 percent in Trump Media to help pay for the posting of a $175 million bond in connection with his appeal of a civil fraud penalty imposed by a New York state judge. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/01/business/trump-media-stock.html

For me, this 6 AM-ish morning, after a few other stops, I went to the big 7-11 at the local PTT and really noticed again, for the first time, one of the joys of living in Thailand is back: All the cute 7-11 check-out girls had stopped wearing those COVID masks. So I have to say again: Behave yourself, Mahoney!

Can I wean myself off Windows, for good?

When I read about all those who use LINUX, Ubuntu, or some other GNU-ware, I just think about the old 2009 Microsoft ad: 'I'm just not cool enough to be a Mac person' -

My first computer that I bought was a refurbished iMac with added memory. Then I started doing Braille work and the Braille software my group used was PC only. That was 25 years ago. Other than a few motherboard crashes and the computer junked, no big deal for me. -

So far mixed. It is small and fast for 7500 baht but it mostly relies on Android software and apps have to be downloaded from Google play store. But you can plug in a USB hard drive and run movies music from that. One nice thing is that you can run multiple Gmail accounts on Chrome which you cannot do on a PC. And I am prepping for the time when no financial stuff can be on Windows 10. -
Can I wean myself off Windows, for good?

(REDUX from 29 FEB 2024) Every year or so when I went back to US, I bought a new laptop. I now have 5 working laptops 2 with SSD running Window 10 that all work well the newest from my last US trip 5 years ago just before COVID set in. Each time now I go to the security update page I get the notice that this computer will be incompatible with Window 11 and Window 10 support will end October 2025. So I decided to buy a Chromebook for all my financial data post Windows 10 official support and use the otherwise obsolete 5 laptops for everything OTHER than financial data which will stay on the Chromebook. And much lighter for traveling NB Microsoft now says they may extend non-corporate Windows 10 support for a limited time post-OCT 2025 for an as yet to be determined price. And GGB -- I have lots of PC type software some free some paid including some bootlegs that run well which I use all the time -
Great. That is your opinion. Here is another (already posted in the $175 million topic) March 25, 2024 It is unclear whether these same five judges will also hear Mr. Trump’s appeal, but David B. Saxe, a former judge on the appeals court that ruled on Monday, said that the court’s decision to short-circuit Ms. James’s collection efforts suggests that some of the judges were uncomfortable with Justice Engoron’s ruling. “My view is that the court indicates it has difficulty with the breadth of the lower court’s decision,” said Mr. Saxe, who retired in 2017 after 36 years on the bench, 19 of them on the appeals court. “They had other options available to them, and they issued a broad-based stay,” he continued, which he said suggests “that there is a view that they’re going to need to take a hard look at the lower court’s decision.” https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/25/nyregion/trump-bond-reduced.html Note: the words 'ruling' and 'breadth of the lower court’s decision', not 'amount'.

So in your opinion, just bizness as usual. This was the headline from the NY Times: Trump’s Bond in Civil Fraud Case Is Reduced to $175 Million The former president was racing to secure a half-billion-dollar bond, but an appeals court lowered the amount. The surprise decision may help him stave off financial disaster.
-
Well so much for that. The Appeals Court 25 March 2024 not only reduced the bond required to $175 million due in 10 days, but they summarily threw out Judge Engoron's ruling "barring defendant Donald J. Trump and the corporate defendants from applying for loans from New York financial institutions for three years;'

Personally, I consider the outcome of all these Trump legal entanglements criminal or civil to be a side-show compared to the prospect of Trump again being President JAN 2p025. -
Fani Willis decision in Georgia judge’s hands after final hearing

There was an article in the NY Times that I quoted March 22 elsewhere this Forum that said -- in specifically referring to the 2 Federal criminal cases -- that the Justice Department considered it "inconceivable" that Trump would be anything but a has-been full time at Mar a Lago and ostracized by the Republican Party. Not someone who would be the leading candidate for the Republican Presidential nomination. They and maybe the other Prosecutors figured Trump would just play nice. -

Trump appeals ruling keeping Fani Willis on Georgia case 03/29/24 3:51 PM ET The defense has also taken issue with several statements Willis has made outside the courtroom, including the implication that their motion to disqualify her and Wade was racially motivated. After Willis suggested during a church speech that the criticism Wade faced stemmed from being the only Black special prosecutor she hired, Trump attorney Steve Sadow accused her of attempting to “foment racial animus” against Trump and his co-defendants to take focus off her alleged affair. More recently, Willis told CNN that the “train is coming” for Trump and his co-defendants, drawing more criticism from the defense. https://thehill.com/homenews/4564160-trump-appeals-ruling-keeping-fani-willis-on-georgia-case/ -

So a week from today EDT, if Trump does indeed put up the $175 million, we'll know whether the DJT stock played or did not play any part in the arrangements. Some reason hard for you to wait that long?
