  1. From the transcript VP nominee debate between now-VP Vance and Tim Walz: NO'D Would you again seek to challenge this year's election results, even if every Governor certifies the results? I'll give you two minutes. JDV: Well, Norah, first of all, I think that we're focused on the future. ********** TW I would just ask that. Did he lose the 2020 election? JDV: Tim, I'm focused on the future. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/full-vp-debate-transcript-walz-vance-2024/ -- Some of you guys on here should try it.
  2. There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody’s expense but his own. 4. What to Know About Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Can stage 3 kidney disease be reversed? The goal of CKD stage 3 treatment is to prevent further progression. There’s no cure for any stage of CKD, and you can’t reverse kidney damage. However, further damage can still be minimized if you’re at stage 3. It’s more difficult to prevent progression in stages 4 and 5. https://www.healthline.com/health/stage-3-kidney-disease#reversal

  7. Per NBC link above: “First of all, you got to fire the chairman of the Joint Chiefs. Any general that was involved, general, admiral, whatever, that was involved in any of the DEI woke s--- has got to go,” Hegseth said on the “Shawn Ryan Show,” a podcast whose host describes himself as a former Navy SEAL and CIA contractor. Hegseth said people should be in the military for warfighting and “that’s the only litmus test we care about.”
  8. One inkling of that may be how well Secretary Hegseth gets along with the current -- and almost fired -- Chairman Brown JCS: "On a podcast last month, Hegseth said Brown needed to be fired. 10. Yes again -- and maybe at that point President Truman thought defense should be the priority to war.

  12. Secretary Hegseth's Message to the Force -- Jan. 25, 2025 We will revive the warrior ethos and restore trust in our military. We are American warriors. I have committed my life to warfighters and their families https://www.defense.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/4040940/secretary-hegseths-message-to-the-force/ NB Maybe it's time to re-rename back from Dept. of Defense 1947

  14. From the WSJ: Updated 10 days ago What Are the Financial-Mismanagement Allegations Surrounding Hegseth? Pete Hegseth has been accused of financial mismanagement while leading two small nonprofit organizations from 2008 to 2016. Revenues at Veterans for Freedom plunged during Hegseth’s tenure, from $8.7 million in 2008 to $265,000 in 2010. Hegseth then took a leadership role at Concerned Veterans for America; tax filings show that the nonprofit spent more money than it raised from donations and other avenues during three of the five years he led the nonprofit. Hegseth has denied wrongdoing. In December, he suggested that a 2016 whistleblower report that in part accused him of financial mismanagement was nothing more than an email from a disgruntled employee. https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/pete-hegseth-confirmation-hearing/card/what-are-the-financial-mismanagement-allegations-surrounding-hegseth
  15. Faculty untrue, though it’s understood that those who are triggered by the media cannot understand this having their heads stuck in the media bubble. Ms. Wiles insists she is not concerned about Mr. Trump’s most provocative cabinet picks, including Pete Hegseth, his choice to run the Defense Department. Mr. Hegseth, a military veteran who has been accused by a woman of sexual assault, which he has denied, has no experience leading an agency of nearly three million people. “That’s what staff is for,” Ms. Wiles said briskly. “It’s our obligation to give him people that understand the business of national defense.” To Ms. Wiles, Mr. Hegseth is one of Mr. Trump’s desired “disrupters” of the status quo, just like his choice of Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence and Mr. Kennedy as the secretary of health and human services. The president-elect, she said, “would rather have a disrupter at the top and buttress the disrupter with people who know the business or the agency. That’s the idea. And so if you think of it that way, it explains all of them.” from NY Times via https://archive.ph/lDmIO
  16. From the David Mamet script for The Untouchables The late Sean Connery as Malone: Malone: Mr. Ness, everybody knows where the booze is. The problem isn't finding it, the problem is who wants to cross Capone. Many of Trump's nominations are under-qualified except (as Ms. Wiles has put it) as disruptors. The problem amongst the Republican Senators is: Who wants to cross Trump.
  17. Not due to 31st March 2025. Why would there be a mention in November 2024? They could have easily said that this is the last extension you will get without a submitted tax form -- just as I was told a few years back that this the last extension you will get based upon submitting an embassy income affidavit.
  18. At least as of my retirement extension via 65K monthly NOV2024, there was no mention of taxes.

  20. I've decided, if I want to read about how Happy & Positive everything seems since 20JAN2025, I'll just start reading nypost.com directly instead of waiting for the usual suspects to link to it on here with their appraisals.
  21. In early 1990's, an older family friend was having a tough go in real estate sales but said he could get work as an appraiser -- just that he had to pass the state licensing exam. He asked me to help him. I said sure but I just have one condition: You go out and buy an HP calculator using RPN which I explained to him. I said tricky at first but you'll grow to like it for your type calculations. And he passed the exam.
