  1. well I sure do not. Don't care about it, won't watch any of it, don't care who wins it.
  2. OP, no benefit at all. It's like being one of those deluded Vegan folk. You won't live any longer, it will just seem like you do . No point in being miserable and living to be 100.
  3. If that is the case, which it manifestly is not, at least not across the whole NHS, then how do you account for my Thai father in law receiving treatment in the NHS on two separate visits to the UK and on inquiring where he should pay, was told that no mechanism exists for the NHS to charge him, despite him having comprehensive travel medical insurance. The reason given is that he was admitted as an A & E patient, temporarily registered with a UK doctor, which was a circular argument, as that was a requirement for him to be admitted to the hospital and it was the hospital that arranged for that temporary registration. His is not an isolated case. The NHS is probably the most dysfunctional, inefficient, cash swallowing organization in the UK, and that is saying something. It clearly needs massive reform, but no politico has, or ever will have, the courage and the skills to tackle this out of control monster.
  4. Good question, Nepalese would be my choice, with Sherpa/ Gurkha sub culture. A marvelous people in an amazing country. .
  5. I leave whatever is broken outside of my gate and it always goes, sometimes within minutes . Thai's are expert in mending, recycling, utilizing, selling on anything you have to give them, broken or not.
  6. The only changes I have noticed this 'winter' is it's a couple of degrees less hot (note, not colder) in the direct sunlight and I tend not to need aircon in the early hours of the morning. Apart from that, its all same same. Still raining here too in Chon Buri Province , I think that we may well have seen the last of any discernable 'winter' in these parts, perhaps for ever.
  7. The fact remains that for the vast majority of Thai based expats, the maximum you could accuracy state , with any real certainty, will be 'maximum of 12 months', before another extension MAY be granted by the Thais. My next extension is due in 4 months, therefore anyone, official or otherwise, who asks me, 'how long will I be out of the UK' accurately get the answer '4 months Sir, unless circumstances change'.
  8. You have a great faith in the integrating of UK systems that is not justified. The system is not that integrated, or complete (private and some charter flights and almost all ferry routes). In owning my own light aircraft for a good few years, I could leave the country at will with no record made of me, bar a flight plan, which could be filed in the air without a ident of the pilot or passengers. Do you honestly think for a moment that the system is capable of tracking all individuals, bar known terrorists or criminals? It can't even do that, let alone track the odd pensioner. As the UK government has admitted publically, it has no idea how many immigrants that have entered the UK, legally or illegally have subsequently left. or indeed, how many expats are effectively living overseas long term without ever declaring that they are expats. It can guess, but it doesn't know.
  9. I would not subject myself to the NHS again, ever, its dysfunction, its generally poor and inconsistent treatment, its waiting lists, its concentration camp hospitals. I count myself lucky to be free of that misery and able to pay to go to good international hospitals in city's here and get the treatment I want/need. If you can't afford to do that, or pay for good health insurance, then don't live in Thailand. As an aside, there is no system for tracking UK citizens that leave the UK. There are no longer any Boarder Force outbound passport checks at airports and most ports, only inbound ones. So they know when you come back, just not when you left, unless you tell them, such as declaring it for Tax purposes.
  10. Much the same deal as Thai. The Middle East Airlines are all government owned. Despite what they say publicly, and what that paragon of transparency IATA try to convince themselves of, they are not private commercial businesses and would never be allowed to fail.
  11. If you are talking about Thai Airways, well God/Buddha/whomever only knows how they deal with ticket prices and commercial yield management. I'm sure a higher mythical deity may know, because they certainly don't. After all, you can't really be that bothered if your government will not allow you to fail financially, despite all the public babble and smoke screens to the contrary.
  12. Well known to those in the industry, due to the algorithm that airlines use for yield control., the cheapest tickets are obtainable within 90 days of travel. Outside of that 90 days, you will likely pay top dollar
  13. I have and you haven't missed anything important, or even interesting.
  14. Oh dear, what a shame, never mind. It's a damn boring game anyway, so you won't be missing much.
  15. Lens replacement does not cure glaucoma, if you have been told that, then move on to a consultant who knows what he is talking about.
  16. Wrong title. It should read, Police do their job for once, but only for a Month.
  17. No, an overstaying <deleted> being treated as he should. If you don't like the treatment, don't over stay, its all very simple.
  18. One of the biggest choking hazards for children comes from eating Bananas. You rarely hear of that threat.
  19. I have also renewed my UK DL 3 times, online from here, but it will be delivered to your UK address, not to an overseas address. Same as for a UK Passport renewal. You can use the online service okay from here, but you have to send in your old passport and the new one will go to your UK address. Not practical, but doable.
  20. Did you see the video, it was on all the local news outlets ? He was riding at a mental speed and brought it on himself.
  21. I saw the video, that was suicidal riding and the accident just about inevitable.. Thank goodness he only killed himself and not some innocent bystander.
