So, if true, then this is the way it should be: Keep tariffs super high on China until the country loses/exterminates/deports Xi and becomes Democratic. And, keep tariffs until China raises minimum wage to USD15.00 per hour. I am pretty sure this has been Trump's plan from the beginning. a. To reduce tariffs between Free Nations. b. When we start making exceptions for random words, such as the word often, then things can go awry. We should enforce, reinforce, and teach everyone that the T in often should be pronounced just as much as the T in listen. And, no college professors should be allowed to pronounce the T in often, just as this rule was always in effect when I was at university. There needs to be some uniformity at universities.

Importantly, one really cannot NOT have tariffs on countries, such as China, that exploit and employ SLAVE LABOR. One needs to protect one's economy from all countries that use SLAVE LABOR. And, we need to punish US companies that setup factories in countries that allow slave labor. For this purpose, tariffs are a godsend. The problem is that many US companies LOVE SLAVE LABOR. Instead, these days, we should enforce the use of Robotics whenever feasible to do so. Some people in some countries love to argue about the many BENEFITS of slave labor. And I agree that such people should be enslaved for a decade, just to teach them the many benefits of being a slave.
