  1. yup, who'd have thunk it. the uk boringly stable, for now, while the US and france are on the edge of chaos.
  2. what a ridiculous comment, says quite a lot about you. my thai friends are all well educated, many with bachelor and master degrees from universities abroad, they have good, well paid jobs, live in lovely houses and/or apartments, and often take foreign holidays. why shouldn't thais have money?!
  3. owned one 15 years ago, not the most stylish but an excellent car
  4. some people look for any reason to thai bash and be negative
  5. to get your sweeping negative statement in perspective, how many thai males do you count as friends/close friends? do you have any thai friends not involved in the sex industry? i'd hazard a guess, but i don't want to be judgemental.
  6. why are you using a derogatory term to refer to a female?
  7. yes. go to a shopping mall and find a phone shop. next
  8. yes, it's enforced, and quite rightly so. though, at around 500 GBP it's hardly a lot of money so it's a kind of pointless requirement.
  9. jeez, if you can't afford a border run then maybe thailand isn't the place for you.
  10. What I do object to is the "Melly Klismas" music starting in September/October! ...and, in some places, going on into january, or even february
  11. OP, you don;t know what you're talking about... thai's have definitely won medals, i remember one guy returning and presenting his medal to his majesty
  12. clearly, you do care because a) you read the thread, and b) you took the time to respond.
  13. always choose a female, in 25+ years never had a problem. must be something about you 🤭
  14. She instigates mayhem, usually around midnight when the two are tanked up with their booze. quite a few foreigners in thailand have the same trait
  15. Surprised that I can't find anything in the news yet? probably because the monsoon isn't newsworthy
  16. au contraire, i have a fob, but within the fob is... a key
  17. Last night, I joined what I thought was a queue to order food and waited patiently behind a gentleman for about 5 minutes, while the staff ignored me. A Thai man walked up, spoke in Thai, and was served immediately. quite right too, back home i come from a heavily touristed area and for sure i get preferential treatment over the riff raff. next.
  18. hybrid cars seem a logical solution. need to reduce the use of fossil fuels - hybrid cars do this need to remove range anxiety - hybrid cars do this i don;t believe EVs are the future, hybrid cars are a very effective stop gap as we develop the next, more appropriate, technology.
  19. it wasn't the slippery highway that caused the accident, it was the actions of the driver, and possibly the lack of servicing of the vehicle.
  20. someone in the uk used my credit card while i was in thailand, as i have transaction updates on my phone i knew right away and contacted my bank, HSBC, they were efficient and professional, it was only about £50GBP but they cancelled the debits so i lost nothing, and cancelled and replaced the card. i rarely use my credit card, mainly for flight booking, so am unsure how it was cloned. was impressed with my bank's prompt and effective action.
  21. Thai post website doesn't have (or I can't find) UK specific info and the est delivery time is very vague - 5-28 days or something. that's a pretty good rule of thumb, whether it's a problem on the thai side or uk side, or the bit inbetween, i don't know. having said that 7-10 days would be the norm, but don;t count on it.
  22. Regulations would prevent this kind of tragedy. they wouldn't. effectively enforced regulations might help prevent some tragedies, but education and the application of common sense is also needed.
  23. no they don't. if they want money they are not wealthy. have you dated any genuinely wealthy thai women? i have, several, the last thing they wanted from me was money. tbh, i've never paid money to any woman to be my friend/gf, thai or otherwise. i don't know why this site is so full of guys who need to pay someone to be their friend/gf, it's really quite sad.
