The same reason BLM protestors have had to push the issue. No one has to defend their heterosexuality, there is no need for a "straight pride" parade. Until it is absolutely no longer an issue and folks like us find these discussions moot, I applaud their efforts to make everyone aware.

Sexuality is not a choice. It's like being left-handed. You either are or you aren't. I have two friends, a gay couple, and one of them looked me square in the eye one day and asked, "Do you think we chose to be gay?"

Two years ago I woke up with sudden onset arthritis in my knees. I couldn't walk up or down 3 steps without severe pain. I went to a specialist, had x-rays done, and the first thing she said was lose 30 pounds. I dropped half of that and got my knees back. I'm still fighting to lose the other half, and for now I'm just glad to get back the mobility I have.

A school I worked at had a teachers' weekend "retreat" (it was actually just having us hand out pamphlets on the sidewalk for one of their new schools opening in the neighborhood). On Saturday night we were required to provide a teaching lesson. One particular lesson I actually liked was one on critical thinking. The following Monday I tried applying that lesson in one of my classes. A supervisor walked by and shut me down quick, fast, and in a hurry.

I've been teaching in Thailand since 2008. I've personally witnessed DRASTIC changes in the snacks the students eat during breaks/lunch. At first they (mostly) brought healthy snacks, but today I am very dissappointed to see the huge amounts of sugar they are gobbling down. And it's not just LOS, this is a global issue. The schools love it as they get their cut of the sugar sales. Big Pharma loves it cuz they make a fortune from diabetes meds and the latest evil "one shot a week" (or several variations thereof) for type II diabetes and your weight goes down. Focus needs to be placed on diet and exercise. I've been keeping my own type II diabetes in check this way for years.
