Wow, you ARE new. I suggest you grow a thicker hide if you're gonna last long here. Also, learn that a squiggly red line under a word means it's been spelled incorrectly. When you throw insults at members here but spell it wrong, it just looks sad.

I used to work IT. We had several workers and the IT manager getting spun up to justify their existence by supporting an intranet. They caused WAY more work for the engineers at the firm to accomplish their tasks. The employees didn't give two squirts about the "experience" provided by the internal website, they just wanted to get stuff done. I left just as the IT team was rolling out a Business Management System (that's right, BM's 555). They also tried implementing a Fast Action Response Team until I pointed out how farcical the acronym was. Never have I ever been so glad to see a job fading away in my rearview mirror!

Adult Content Creators Arrested for Exploiting Minor
HappyExpat57 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sad and true. I teach students ages 6-12. Some of the older ones look and act mature one minute, then we're laughing and having a great time dancing to the video "Heads Shoulders Knees & Toes." Kids are kids, let them stay that way as long as possible. -
Adult Content Creators Arrested for Exploiting Minor
HappyExpat57 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
With so many hot, young looking women 18+ looking for work in LOS, why the hell would they use minors? If proven to be true, serious punishment should be served. I used to work with abused/neglected children, and there's a look in their eyes that just breaks the heart. Innocence lost, trust almost completely gone, it's just wrong! -
I'm on a pc so emoji's (emoticons) are still available. I have to use the keyboard "Home" key to get back up to the top. I've also noticed the "Topics" on the right hand side of the screen are sporadic - sometimes they're there, and sometimes they're not. From what I remember, this upgrade was to switch to a cloud-based server to provide better service and faster response times. All I've noticed is I frequently have to stop the page and refresh when clicking on a topic cuz it just hangs. Every time someone offers an upgrade, my anus puckers. I recently had to switch to Windows 11 on a work pc and I have never hated an OS as much as this. It takes two to six times as many steps to do what I used to do in one step with Windows 10 and two particularly important (to me, anyway) features were removed intentionally by Micro$oft. Upgrades? If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT! Still, for what I pay to be a member of AN is cost effective.

can you understand today's actors mumbling on tv?

I worked with a South African teacher named Elena, pronounced exactly as the Thai phrase. You bet we had some good natured fun with THAT. -

Let's see who lives a happier life. (Hint: it won't be the vermin) -

Hearing loss isn't just volume, you lose the high end first which results in everything sounding muffled. Just sayin'. -

Nope, eff them, I'm not paying a road tax to big stanky vermin. Gas and pellets are cheaper, and they soon learn to leave me alone and I leave them alone. -

Are you sure it's the shows or could your hearing be going? Not a dig, all of us eventually suffer hearing loss if we live long enough. -

You are obviously not a regular bicyclist in LOS. I've been cycling all over Thailand and every time I go out on my push-bike, I take a stick and an air pistol that uses plastic pellets. I have ALWAYS been chased by effing soi dogs. The pistol gives them a sting and is not lethal. With some, it takes more than one shot to get the message home, but they eventually learn to leave this guy alone. I have had Thai people cheering me for doing so. They need to be spayed and brought under control. -
If that was a weak attempt at humor, then it was a miserable fail.

I personally witnessed a Thai man die when he tried to drive his motorbike around a soi dog sleeping in the road. He startled the dog, the dog jumped and collided with the bike, the guy fell to the road and broke his neck. But hey - I guess he forgot to put on his amulet that day. Sum num na. -
Do i need a degree to teach in high school ?
HappyExpat57 replied to steph83's topic in Teaching in Thailand Forum
I've worked at international schools, The requirements to teach are very stringent. A Masters degree is the basic starting place, and there are other qualifications as well. It's been a while so I'm not up on what is currently needed, but for the purpose of this thread, op is NOT qualified to work at any international school in LOS. -

You were just fed some absolute bull. To work legally in Thailand you must have a degree to get a work permit. -
Prison officials say Thaksin eligible for parole

It's a local colloquialism. -
If they really go that nuts, I'll probably get the hell out of Dodge.

I'm not leaving, just hiding in my condo. When I discovered Makro opened up at 6:00, I realized I would be able to go get essentials while the party revellers were sleeping off the celebration from the day before.

Thai air force to battle surging fine dust pollution crisis

It's been tried here before! -
Well, allow me to retort. Without access to my social security number, no one can start new financial actions in my name. I did recently have an annoying occurrence of attempted theft. I booked a trip with China Airlines using a Wells Fargo credit card, and within 15 minutes I received alerts from Wells Fargo that someone had just charged some Jet Blue flights on the same card. I let them know I HAD booked the China Airlines flight but not the Jet Blues. It would appear some unscrupulous China Airlines employee tried helping themselves on my dime. The card was cancelled and a new one sent, problem averted. I also check all my active accounts first thing every morning after a good night's sleep. As for anything else regarding privacy? If they really want to mine for my boring details, they are welcome to them.

Any of the optical shops in town will get you a reliable prescription and perform basic tests for glaucoma and cataracts. Anything more, I've gone to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and been reasonably satisfied.
