  1. I think the only difference is the power of lenses, which are matched to the distance you are comfortable to read at........reading tends to be closer to your face than the laptop. You might also get a slight tint or more reflective lens for the laptop glasses.
  2. Crazy thought....if they are "tight as"......I wonder if introducing a little slack might help and take the starting load of the bearings????
  3. Freaky................Just been reading about that.......cheers.
  4. We have a steel roof covered in concrete tiles and large eaves with soffits in every corner......no insulation of any kind. There seems to be no method of venting the roof space. Will hot air naturally vent through the overlapping concrete tiles or do I need to add whirlybirds, fans or special tiles?
  5. Should have gone to SpecSavers
  6. Are you sure it is not the belt just slipping? Are the belts smooth or toothed? If the sound is only as you start up it sounds like they just need tightening.
  7. I wonder if they are getting match fit to go in and help Putin?
  8. Nong Bua Daeng......heard my first ever sonic booms this morning........jumped out of my skin.
  9. Could be...more attractive than a Gabion mattress....cheers
  10. Ha!....One last question if I may......lawns looks lush....what grass did you use......turf or seed.....cheers.
  11. I am just wondering........if I scrape it back to a relatively gentle gradient, I might get away with just vegetation to hold it together or maybe throw in terrace or two. There is enough space between the house and the pond to do that I think.
  12. You really need to stop whinging about people whinging.......you are coming across as a real whinger........only joking.
  13. Hahaha.....funny you should say that....got a separate plan for drainage on that side........
  14. Given up taking the wife back. Applied for a five year visitor's visa (after visiting on a one year visa every year for about 10 years).......they took my money, non-refundable, and refused her visa.......the letter said we don't not need to tell you why we have refused, just that we feel it is better not to issue you with one at the moment.
  15. ......now it looks like we need to plan drainage and put in some kind of retaining wall/mattress. One side of the land is now sitting 2m above an adjoining pond and the whole plot gently slopes toward the pond. There is already surface erosion taking place. Sorry, no pics, should have thought ahead. 1) Has anyone experience of putting in a diverting, open top culvert......is it worth it if we are to build a retaining wall/mattress? 2) Should we be putting in 'soak aways' behind the retaining wall/mattress to drain the 'below surface' water? 3) My initial idea and preference is to scrape back the slope to minimize the gradient and then go for a Gabion mattress....anyone done this? If so, did you do it yourself or did you employ a contractor? Thanks for any guidance.
  16. True...and you have to convince your self many might vehemently oppose what he is doing. I would hate for people to think as a Brit, I support the Tory government's behaviour toward Ukrainian refugees.
  17. I wonder what he will be presented with when his 25 years of loyal service comes around?
  18. On the upside I have four Thai relatives (all very poor) cock-a-hoop at the moment. All tested positive and now get 10/14 days quarantine in a very nice hotel courtesy of their insurance......it is like they have won the lottery
