Unless you live in a knock down house in a very carefully selected area of the rice fields, the cities are much quieter and more tranquil than any rural location.

Yes, but a lot went to VIP, PPE rip-off contracts and the cost of the world beating (555) Test and Trace programme, which could have paid for the whole of the Education budget plus free school meals for every child for a year.

I think the big mistake is assuming you have to choose a location and stick with it. We have moved around for three years, house sits, hotels, resorts, short term/longer term rents. Although the wife now has a house, I see it as no more than our base camp and intend to travel extensively for months at a time.

Mmmmm....P2P is unlikely in Thailand I imagine.....and of course if you convert to say GBP to get into the market you are then at the mercy of exchange rates as well (as I am). P2P is a nice steady earner, relatively low risk, but still brings in about 6% pa.

True.....many small to medium sized manufacturers do have periodical (statutory) shut downs to limit workers absences and to allow large scale maintenance. Many industries actually require you in work during nationwide holidays....horses for courses.....but my argument still stands.....it is mental closing a nation down on specific days and have millions all travelling at the same time.

Odd............. in the UK and EU all employees have plenty of flexibility as to when to go on holiday for a large proportion of the days made available to them.....often 30 days+ a year.....and businesses cope.
