  1. Oh ... one of those ... ???? ... jacko45k wrote: 'I felt it unsafe to even breathe with the level of vehicle pollution" ????
  2. Haven't got a clue what's that's all about, and simply stated we live comfy of 35k, and I could do the same if single, even if renting. Not near the minimal I would need, emphasis on the need, that was implied. All depends on one's lifestyle, needs & wants. Wouldn't want to live on less, but could.
  3. Just pointing out a car, is a luxury. Guess that went over your head. And can be a big chunk of some folks monthly income. Simply sitting in the carport, costs, and depreciates at the same time. Car don't do nothing for me. If fancy, upscale performance or ride, more than comfortably needed, then that cost is even higher. I don't get that much enjoyment out of owning things that depreciate. I probably spend more time than most in ours, but it's still ... just a car. Nothing I take that serious ... replying to the post that implied just that.
  4. As pointed out ... THANK YOU... that should read:
  5. Depends if your purpose for owning is saving the planet. Me ... don't think the planet needs saving. All about saving baht for me, and performance. That it pollutes the local air a bit less, almost gives me that warm & fuzzy feeling. Especially when I'm behind smelling benzine & diesel vehicles on the scooter. Or simply walking about. Diesel owners should be ashamed of themselves, as they are directly affecting other folks' health, and in a negative way. It really does amaze me, that fuel is not banned for personal use, if not completely.
  6. If you really wanted to save the planet, you'd be a subsistent farmer, and not even be on the internet, let alone own motorized transportation. Or at least live in a 15 minute city & walk. Hypocrisy - the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform.
  7. We live on about ฿35k a month in TH, and quite comfy. Do own house & car though. As a single person, I could live quite comfy on ฿35k a month, and that's in a rented townhouse. Even without the car, in a urban area. Too easy. ฿10k rent, ฿10k food, ฿10k to play with.
  8. That's a lone piece of string ? Doom & Gloom is always good, Look at drug companies the last few years. I started investing during the Y2K scam. Dumped just before 2000, as the scam was exposed then, and techs crashed. Had stocks doubling & splitting every 3-6 months. Then Bush2 got elected, and moved over to speculative oil stocks. I won't do defense contractors stocks ... I have some morals, though at the time, they were raking in huge profits. Cheney, go figure. I can't directly help people kill people. War & oil prices were inevitable. Didn't need to be genius to see that coming.
  9. Not really, it's a machine, gets me from point A to B. That's all. Cars don't do much for me. Actually wish I didn't need one, but not really a metro kind of guy. It is one of my bigger money drains, and don't appreciate. Actually a silly expense, and understand why many enjoy living in metro area, and not having one. Considering the past 4 cars, easily 5-10k+/- a month luxury just to have, without out even putting petrol in it, and that entry level cars. Our Mazda 2 cost ฿515k 7 years later worth ฿100k So ฿415k÷7 yrs=฿59.28k÷12 months=฿5k a month add insurance ฿1k a month petrol about ฿3k a month Throw in some oil changes & tune-ups, and it cost about ฿10k a month over 7 years. ฿84k ÷ 135k kms = ฿0.62 per kms If you don't rack up the kms, then that per km rate goes up substantially. Not expensive, but not inexpensive, and that's if it doesn't need repairs. Entry level cars start @ ฿600k now
  10. Last one was 1/4 mill USD, netted $180k ish after taxes. Did retire at 45, and it wasn't from salaried jobs.
  11. Were you driving an EV, or adding to that pollution? Hopefully not the latter.
  12. You're not looking very hard. But if you have not interest, I guess you wouldn't notice many things. Whether while out & about or on Gmap.
  13. Why do most fail at any investing? Lack of education, planning, discipline. Why so many businesses fail the first 1 or 2 yrs, if lucky enough to last that long. For some reason, people get emotional about stocks, or simply greed. Set your sell/profit %, and you dump/loss %, and stick with it. Easy? NO, it's full time researching. Have the software to research, (info is king), and know what you are actually doing, buying, and why. Understand the trends, and most important, realize the stock market is nothing but a scam, to take advantage of ignorant newbie traders. If not simply holding long term for small gains, yearly. Once you realized that, it's very lucrative.
  14. Yes, that thought crossed my mind, and with that, very happy we have an MG ???? We always top up on the outskirts of Krung Thep anyway, at the same MG dealer, and works out perfectly, since 280 kms away, and on the way to our usual hotel, only 19 kms away.
  15. Might be a step up, as we haven't seen a photo of his ex ... ????
  16. People are that bored in the world, that someone announcing he's bisexual, or simply realized he's gay, actually gets follower and news-blips. Mind boggling, more so that I'm even commenting. Hey, another rainy day, just filling in time. I'm going to take a wild guess and suspect he always was, just never told or got caught by the wife ???? .
  17. We'll just have to A2D, and since I've been audited by IRS since being here, I'm leaning towards me being correct.
  18. Yes, I meant stock market, or others of same; commodities, futures, currencies. You're already in, so that's good. Don't know who told you we lose money, as I retired early because of trading, and most made in pennies.
  19. Highly doubtful, as have 2 online now (Rayong & Lampang), and 2 pre-permit stage (Krabi & Songkhla). One planned for PKK got cancelled. PKK, aside from natural gas, went solar, and solar farms almost produces as much as the coal pant would have. Any others are private own/used.
  20. pressure cooker, about 1 hr @ 1410 of vid another: https://alittleandalot.com/instant-pot-beans/
  21. @acepredator Market trading. Can teach yourself, and mock trade till you got handle on it. It's full time though, and depend what exchange you use, need to be active during their hours. Been out of it for 15 year, so don't know what online brokers are available, and that was for USA anyway.
  22. So true. Considering that stretch of time, it's nice just be here in the 20's and healthy, and still able to get our freak on. With the same aged partners of the 70's, if that's your choice ????
  23. Yes, salt water is a whole new level of conductivity and corrosion. And the water part isn't the problem, as pure water, won't conduct electricity. Salt is the issue.
