Instead of asking about the IRS ... ... as yourself why you'd want to spend half mill $$ on a house in TH, that you can't own. Or if having that amount to spend, anywhere, why Thailand at all. Wouldn't be my choice if I still had a half mill in the bank and looking to be elsewhere. Pretty sure it wouldn't be TH.

Yes, I don't think any go into town. There are taxis (scooter w/side cart), but they really don't hang out there much. 2.2 kms to walk to surfside, than another half kms or so, till hotels, if wanting to stay surfside. If not rainy or loaded down with packs, it's pleasant enough. Might have a dog or 5 bark at you, but they're harmless. If you do walk, as stated, you can cross the RR tracks, and no need to use the overpass, as no walkway on, and small shoulder is used by MBs. More than a few people simply walk it. Also why the train is convenient, if convenient for you at HH. Actually travel time, driving vs train is about the same I think, 1+ hr. Depending on traffic, it sometimes takes me 1.5 hr to drive home from BluPort, and I'm only 5 minutes off the van intersection. Also the train station to surfside and 'all' things, is only 1/2 kms, or less. If walking from van stop, there's small park, next to stadium, I frequent with the dog almost daily, that you'll pass on the walk to the surf, with a 7-11 just prior. Pick up a snack/beverage, and sit lakeside (small). Do have to exit same gate (stadium entrance) as going in, as they have yet to open the other gates since covid, so an extra 200m of backtracking ???? Anything else, feel free to ask.

You made it to 62, so continue doing what has worked so far. Or do you find yourself in punch ups and you just consider yourself lucky so far ? That uncommon common sense usually rules. Simply staying away from places where large amounts of alcohol is consumed, along where women are in attendance, usually avoids the atmosphere for most confrontations. Out after the witching hours, may also put you in harm's way. -
Not a fan of restaurant served English brekkie, as only had 1 that I'd consider passable. Only because it was served with a Cumberland, and my first experience of. Damn tasty sausage. Afterwards, the same restaurant never offered that sausage w/brekkie. The rest of the brekkie is a bit lacking. A scoop of warm, if lucky, <deleted> beans right out of the can ... that just disgusting. Prefer smoked / streaky bacon (never cooked properly) over EU/UK bacon/ham. Only plus there, can't screw up cooking the EU/UK version. Tomatoes & shrooms are a nice addition. Rather have toast over BP, as a bit flavorless. At least toast I can add butter/jelly. The rest, every vendor seems to fail at, <deleted> tea/coffee/orange 'drink', cold / under cooked or burnt toast. Warm eggs, if lucky, or over cooked. No home fries or hash browns (not expected), but the 1 plus to Yank versions, though when restaurant served, usually a fail. Why we usually pass on ABF, brekkie complete, or if a Khao Tom+ is offered, will go with that, depending. Usually only get brekkie if mandatory & comes with room. Only do fry ups at home.

Shopkeeper Arrested For Bashing Up Foreign Tourist With Skateboard
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Not enough info in story to form an opinion, but y''all feel free to bash either, tourist or local. Was the gal standing by herself, away from boyfriend, and foreigner simply started to engage in conversation ? Harmless enough, and a simple, oops, sorry, didn't know she was with someone. Or is boyfriend the jealous type, so insecure, he has to attack anyone who looks at GF. Skateboard attack ... as stated violence is never the answer. Does it happen elsewhere in the world, yes, and why I don't frequent places selling alcohol as their main business. "What you looking at?" ... too often leads to punch ups, some with deadly results. -

Yea, that's what I thought, and part of that 41 ish conx fee. Only thing I can think of, is a conx got wet & grounded for a bit. Though 1 kWh is quite a bit. Did see a gecko scurry away in meter (alive), when I walked up to it. Can't see one making a conx long enough to draw a kwh. Didn't see any bbq'd inside. Head scratcher. If it goes to 65, I'll turn off at switch, then see if it goes to 66 afterward. Need to ring them up anyway, as I see it's printed 5(100)A, and supposed to be 30A service, unless they simply use same meters, which is probably the case. Installer knows we're suppose to have 30A as mentioned it when swamping meters. Was curious why wanting, and nodded, 'understood' when told EV on the way. meter.mp4

I'm going to guess and say they run almost every hour. Daughter used when coming down from Krung Thep and there's a couple companies that run that route. Going back up just pay to go beyond Hua Hin and most drivers will drop you off wherever you like as long as they don't have to go off the main road. 100 baht tip always helps and I doubt if they'll be able to actually go into the airport as probably not allowed. If not going to stop for 100 baht, you may want to offer more since the taxis from downtown Hua Hin to the airport are a bit silly. The train is very convenient as it drops off right in town since there are not a whole lot of taxis waiting for fares at the van stop. Van depot is on Phetkasem road, highway 4, at the intersection and it's 1 ish km to surfside. Not really far unless you're caring or dragging a bag along with you. At present you can still cross the railroad tracks. That won't be an option in the future when they put the fencing up for the dual high speed line. Nothing to worry about this year or next.
