  1. Not familiar with 'pampas' but Makro sells puff pastry, (squares & sheets) in the freezer case, in the bakery section of store. Where located at our local Makro, though if not there, check the frozen, ice-cream, pizza & cheese coolers, as use to be there, and usually near the dairy end of the store.
  2. You need a 4 bdrm / 3 bath home in your retirement ? We just downsized from 400+m² under roof on 2 rai, to 120m², and now 1 bdrm / 2 bath on 1/4 rai, w/ 1/4 rai for garden adjacent. Actually the garden was an after thought, and on the other side of the road ???? 1 bdrm ... prepping for the yearly virus and social distancing ... ???? If lived in city / urban area, could easily get by with a bicycle or ebike if lazy. Just an observation as I know the difference between need & want.
  3. Tall people, 176+cm should be banned from Thailand, problem solved ????
  4. Apparently not, judging by most the replies on AN. You could use my installer, though if needing a service call, might be a day or 3 longer than you'd want, since based in Hua Hin. But they will install countrywide, I think. His very first installation was on Samui, I think. A few have PM'd for info and I've asked if he'd install, and answered yes to all inquiries. But those asking have been understandably leery of going forward, because not local, JIC. Surely there has to be an installer based closer to Buriram: https://www.facebook.com/BuriramSolar/ http://www.solarcelltechthai.com/ If these guy don't, maybe they can recommend, as possibly the local Global House selling solar panels know installers: https://www.pajonpai.com/
  5. Apparently some folks haven't learned how to thrifty shop, and there IS more than one vendor out there offering the same items.
  6. Yep, and goes with all the other silly statements made about 'dress' here. Thai men don't where short and ladies don't show skin/shoulders, or wear pants along with other such silliness. Wife wears 2 pc swim wear. As not concerned about looking like a chocolate lady, since way too late for that. Her garden time has removed any anti sun, vamp look that so many go for here. Thankfully she uses underarm deodorant with sunscreen. Light at the end of tunnel ????
  7. Even worse, we're not allowed to give our excess to them / PEA for free ???? What's wrong with that picture ... ???? If that doesn't tell you who controls the Thai & world's energy, then my use of the word 'ignorant' is way too generous.
  8. Apparently. Just the money saved on owning an EV over the warranty period would pay for a nice solar system, and installed at that. That's just the petrol cost savings alone, over 8 yrs/180k kms. https://aseannow.com/topic/1246109-ice-vs-ev-the-debate-thread/page/7/#comment-17367819 Any further discussion/debate should probably be done on ICE vs EV thread, as way off topic here. https://aseannow.com/topic/1246109-ice-vs-ev-the-debate-thread/
  9. My issue with these cheap and not so cheap, entry level Jap badged cars is road noise on the highway. Quite annoying. Our Vios (2) were terrible, and Mazda2 just a tad better. Our MG ZS is quite comfy & quiet compared to both models, and just a wee bit more in price than the top end versions of those models. One could even go EV with the MG EP, for 100k or less than the top end of those model. Although you could buy 2 of the cheap Celerios (MT) for less ... ???? Remember on road trips early on, I'd listen to music on the highway, and then when stopping at the way too many intersections on those inter-province highways, I'd have to turn the volume down, it was so loud to drown out the road nice, or so I could hear the music while at speed. That's when it sinks in how annoying the road noise is. Fine for around town, but not a fan on the highway.
  10. Not quite sure you do, entirely. Plenty of Supply & Demand, but seems PEA & govt don't want them to meet each other. I know a few people with EVs. Seems those smart enough to realize the advantage of owning, are just as savvy with their energy choices. They all have or are going solar. Same with a few on the forum, inclusive. Having EVs & solar. So with that in mind, many EV users are actually allowing more grid energy to be available for the ignorant folks that don't have EVs or solar. If PEA would accept the excess solar users are generating, in a few years, all residential homes could have free electric. I generate 3X during the day what I use overnight, and that's during now, rainy season, where the sun for past 2 weeks is lucky to make an appearance for more than 2 hrs a day. That will probably triple after rainy season, and it all goes to waste, since not utilized on the grid.
  11. Traditional Buffalo Racing in Chonburi Sunday, October 9th, 2022
  12. And get arrested ... should this actually be posted: "Now Thailand has legalized Cannabis, expect to get high and enjoy the vibes." Kind of implies we can stroll around smoking doobies without consequences ... ????
  13. Been to at Udon Thani a few times. OK, and there used to be a decent cheap burger vendor there, but closed. Gmap stating races are closed. If wanting the 'cowboy vibe', then PC Cowboy Town may interest. May want to wait until they are having an event though. https://www.facebook.com/pccowboytown/ If you got some youngins, they can play with the horses while you try your luck with the rod: https://www.facebook.com/PonyTrekkingFishingUdonThani/
  14. McD for $1 ... ???? For ballpark comparison: https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/prices_by_country.jsp?itemId=3
  15. And 'FREE' for us 'mature' folks. Actually worth visiting, where here in TH, I doubt if I would bother visiting many for the Thai price, or ever if free. If returning to USA, I could easily see myself living a nomadic life, using the Nat. Parks (or truck stops) for showers & toilet if & when needing. A nice fitted out converted, solar powered van for traveling bedroom (EV if available), maybe with an ebike for getting around cities when parked at.
  16. Yep ... just another Thai bashing thread. Hand in hand with the anti Yank threads that dominate the forums.
  17. Inverter settings will take care of export/import to/from grid. Just need to pay attention, if export to the grid. I also have a breaker between the meter and house. Of course there's the grid supply breaker on the 'breaker box/panel' in the house.
  18. Actually a remote with an aux monitor would eliminate the need for a chair. That is a nice camera for your needs. And the inexpensive kit lens 16-50mm is quite nice for the price. I have 3 of them, came with the camera bodies, and was an excellent all around lens. Only gets negative reviews from people not knowing how to use. When ready and have the extra $$$, then can upgrade to better lens, if wanting. I don't use my kit lens any more, as upgraded. Not a negative, just an upgrade. My main interest being wildlife, birds, so 50 or 210mm isn't nearly enough reach for wildlife. Unless pixel peeking, hard to tell the difference, especially when uploaded to social media, as most looking at on small screens. I use a 65" monitor, and anything smaller than 1080p will show imperfections. Many of these, early ones (page 7,8 & 9), taken with @6000 + kit lenses (16-50mm/55-210mm). 7 & 5 yr old tech, though way ahead of it's time back then. https://www.flickr.com/photos/56481061@N02/page7
  19. Another interesting thread, turns into a gun debate ... oh well.
  20. I'd agree with you, if they didn't point out the negative. Easy to spot the salesperson vs the helpful vlogger. YT'er 'Arthur R' does nice vids on the 360s also: https://www.youtube.com/c/ArthurR/search?query=360 Many don't suggest 360s, do to ignorance of, but if wanting to do MB tours & vids of, the 360 would be the way to go, if you understand how they operate. Normal action cam gives you about 170° and only what you are looking at. Very limiting IMHO
  21. Guess having the same customer base as those paying 5000 baht for an hour of companionship ????
  22. Or simply move gear back a bit and zoom in. Better gear, more options. Some vloggers do all their work with a phone, and other's have 3 different cameras, and both turn out excellent content. I watched a short movie, entirely shot on an iPhone ... damn impressive.
  23. NO, they don't. I had plenty of guns, carry permit ... AND NEVER NEEDED ONE. Stop reading the anti Yank headlines. Moving on, as way off topic.
  24. Because some criminal elements out there are well armed. Levels the playing field if you ever need one.
