When I read that somebody pays millions in cash (meaning physical money), it leads me to believe that this might be income from illegal sources (to not leave traces the person didn't deposit it in their bank account). But the person in the article just transferred the money from their bank account and didn't pay cash.

Not all of it. One thing that's not subjective is the "color rendering index" (just Google it for more info). A light with a high CRI just makes a better light, objectively. The color temperature, as well as the brightness is of course subjective. I would recommend putting a bright white (daylight) light in the ceiling, for when you want lots of light, and just put some other lamp with a more yellowish light for some background lightning. Fluorescent tubes are by the way not bad in general, also quite energy efficient, a bit less than LED, but not that it matters much, especially because the light will probably not be used for more than a few hours per day. Might be difficult to get tubes with high CRI and in the desired color here in Thailand, because the ones that I usually see in Thai homes are really bad.

No VE entry with valid visa
FriendlyFarang replied to ChristianPFC's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
How did immigration know that you had an evisa? -
He is from a country which doesn't qualify for visa exempt, but gets 30 days under a bilateral agreement or similar. These can't be extended by 30 days, the advantage is that they aren't limited to two at land border crossings. For example Laos citizens get those. 1. This would be your best option, 3. In my opinion this is better than 2. I think you have listed all of your options.

New Entry Requirements.
FriendlyFarang replied to Makoshark's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Try going back to Australia when you are in the ICU in a private hospital (maybe somebody found you unconscious and decided to take you there), where they charge you 100k per night. Your 500k lasts 5 days, not even including any special surgeries or whatever might be required. For a broken leg you could of course self insure, but insurance is for worst case scenarios, which can cost you a few millions. -
New Entry Requirements.
FriendlyFarang replied to Makoshark's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Sure, if you have 10+ million in your bank account that's no problem, but many people here struggle even having 800k in their bank account, so in their case insurance makes sense. -
Posting here: The clock is ticking.

This could of course be the case at certain sites, but here at Aseannow changing your IP doesn't get you logged out. @OP: Does this only happen on Aseannow or do you also get logged out of other websites? -
Condo vs housing development
FriendlyFarang replied to Silvermane's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
http://web.krisdika.go.th/data/outsitedata/outsite21/file/Condominium_Act_BE_2522_(1979).pdf As I understand this it would have to be one building, which is divided into multiple units. This isn't the case in your example, so it's not a condo. -
I think every time I rented a place (in different provinces), I always signed the contract on the day I moved in. Sometimes no deposit, sometimes a few thousand baht, never more than one month rent as deposit. But the move in date was also never one month in the future, usually a week or two, often times I was ready to move in right now, but the landlord needed a few days to clean the place and make some fixes. In most cases I talked directly with the owner. Two times agents had such a "reservation form", one time it simply said that I can't move in on the specified date I get my deposit back, in the other case it even said something like if I can't move in on the specified date and it's the owner's fault, I get twice my deposit back from him. What does the reservation form state? Did you ever talk directly with the owner?

They are actually right, go to any beach which is frequented nearly exclusively by Thais, and you will hardly see anybody wearing a bikini. Even girls who would usually wear a bikini might choose to wear a t-shirt at those beaches, because they are too shy to be the only girl wearing a bikini. On beaches which are frequented by foreigners, Phuket, Pattaya, etc. there of course also many Thais wearing bikinis.

Where to apply and what visa..
FriendlyFarang replied to Chriscycle's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You could enter visa exempt, then apply for a 30 day tourist extension, then for a 60 day visit wife extension, would give you 120 days total and you don't have to apply for a visa beforehand, you would have to visit immigration twice though, to apply for those extensions. Or you apply for a tourist or non-o visa beforehand, and then a 60 day visit wife extension in Thailand, would give you 120 (tourist) or 150 (non-o) days, only one visit to immigration required, but you have to apply for a visa beforehand. -
Minor collision: Who's in the wrong?
FriendlyFarang replied to 2long's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Undertaking isn't allowed on a road with just one lane, so the motorbike would be in the wrong. -
Minor collision: Who's in the wrong?
FriendlyFarang replied to 2long's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Both of you were wrong, she may not overtake on the left, and you have to make sure that the lane is free. So 50/50 or however it would have been handled. -
According to Google open every day, which does of course make sense at an airport: Suvarnabhumi Airport Post Office https://maps.app.goo.gl/n8bJ2i4dHSmwEStz9 It's behind the last row of check-in counters, not sure which letter this row has, maybe Z, or whatever the last letter is.

There is a post office at BKK, you could ship your bags with them, cheaper than on the plane and you don't have to carry them around.

Makro usually has them But I noticed that sometimes some types of apple are just not available for some time. So if they don't have them now, try again in a while, then they might have them. I recommend "Pink Lady", imho best taste and good consistency.

Cannot get internet into the house in Khon Kaen
FriendlyFarang replied to essex boys's topic in IT and Computers
Just ask the other providers, maybe 3BB doesn't have fiber near you yet, but AIS, True or TOT might have. If there is really no fiber near you yet, a provider might agree to install it if a certain amount of people in your neighborhood sign up for it.
