Permanent residence in thailand
FriendlyFarang replied to Sergey Black's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can, but having worked for a certain amount of time in Thailand is still a requirement, afaik the salary requirement is lower though, and you can directly apply for citizenship instead of permanent residency. -
Condominium versus apartment
FriendlyFarang replied to topswijaya's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
No If a place doesn't have a hotel license (a condo can't have one) then the minimum rental period is one month. Only if the "apartment" has a hotel license. Condos usually don't have receptions. Apartment: The whole building is owned by one person/company, basically same as a hotel, just for long term. Condo: The units in one building are owned by different persons, each unit has its own house number and house book. -
What answer do you expect? Obviously many riders don't want to drive in the rain so they take a break. When it's raining many people don't want to go outside, so they order. Less riders + more orders = not enough riders for all orders.

I would assume that Australia didn't sign or ratify the 1968 IDP convention.

Sometimes people give wrong advice, so it makes sense to always be a bit sceptical, he could have chosen his words more carefully though.

It has changed since then

Because, as we can see in the calculator, the diameter of the tires didn't change. But in case of OP, if changing the tires to the ones that the dealer suggested, the diameter would change.

I guess they have some old stock of them and want to get rid of it. Stick with the size the car came with, that's the optimum size according to the manufacturer. If you put a different size (205*0.6 = 123 vs 195*0.5=97.5, that's the height of the rubber) on it the speedometer will also be off.

They can't change the owner in the blue book unless they have the vehicle. So if a person, other than the owner who you bought it from, shows up with a potential replacement blue book (I'm not sure if it's even possible to get one without presenting the vehicle at the DLT), the vehicle wouldn't be in their name so he couldn't just take it away.

60 days extension
FriendlyFarang replied to vinci's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Doesn't matter what visa he has,if he is married to a Thai he can get a 60 day extension -
By law they are supposed to take passengers there, but imho it's actually understandable why the don't want to. These 10kms might take them an hour, and they will probably have no customer going back, all this for little money. Just last week it took me nearly an hour to drive 7km in the rush hour... Here the DLT should intervene and adjust the fare system to increase the pay if a taxi is traveling in those circumstances. If the payment were justified taxis wouldn't refuse passengers.

Elite Visa to Non-Immigrant B
FriendlyFarang replied to phills2k1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You pay the money for their memberships, 5, 10 or 20 years. One of their membership perks is the visa. Your membership continues to run, even if you don't use the visas, you can still use any other perks though. -
I know that the work permit would allow me to work at any province, but I'm uncertain about the technicalities when applying for the work permit/extension. I've read that at least immigration tends to visit the work place when the foreigner applies for an extension for working, so taking this into account it seems logical to me to apply at immigration where I'm actually living/working (or immigration would have to make a 3 hour one way trip...), but I'm not sure if that's the right way to do. In the end I will of course have to check this with immigration directly, just hoped to hear the experience of other posters so I can base my actions on those as well.

MFA and immigration are under two different ministries and they don't talk with each other. As you can see, the MFA website says that a round trip ticket is required, but as many people here can confirm, that's wrong. So it wouldn't be surprising if the 6 months validity requirement, as well as other things on their website are also wrong.

Company is registered in province A I will be living and working in Province B I assume the work permit has to be applied for in the province where the company is registered, right? On the work permit application form there is a field "place of work", so at least in theory that should work I guess, or is it a problem if the place of work is in another province than where the company is registered and where the work permit is application is submitted? Do the officers from the department of employment ever visit the company or the work place? When I apply for an extension for working at immigration, am I supposed to do this in province A or province B?

Why ridiculous? Small bikes usually go for 300 baht a day. A forza costs 3 times as much to purchase as well as maintenance, which would make it 900 Baht. Then take into account that a Forza willl spend more time just standing around in the shop instead of being rented out because most people rent smaller bikes.... and then you are at 1200 baht. Maybe you can find one for 1000, but finding one lower than this won't be easy, except maybe a run down 300cc model...

Just give cash as a gift, in our western culture that would seem a bit strange, but absolutely common in Thailand, even within the family etc. To make it a little bit special you could get such a flower/cash bouquet. For new year my girlfriend's extended family decided that everybody should by a gift in the 500-1000 baht range, and then we make a draw so that everybody gets a random gift. Turned out most people just put a 500 or 1000 baht bill in an envelope or a box.

Marrying a 17 year old Thai girl in the village
FriendlyFarang replied to Adumbration's topic in Marriage and Divorce
There is no legal issue, age of consent in Thailand is 15 unless the parents forbid it, but sounds like they give their OK.- 215 replies

Why would they ban a seller just because one customer complains? Do you have proof that the shopee seller was the person who sent you this parcel or that he forwarded your information to the scammer?

https://www.thailandpost.co.th/un/rate_result_nrs2/?service_id=&to_country_code=NL%3A%3ANetherlands&parcel_weight=1%2C500.00&service_name= Their website says 2200 for EMS. There are a bit cheaper options though, which will have longer delivery times, as you can see if you open this link.

Where to buy a New Honda Click 125i in Chiang Mai?
FriendlyFarang replied to falangUK's topic in Chiang Mai
Definitely not. They tell people that they have to come for service every 3000 kms, even though the service interval is 6k-12k, depending on the bike. They don't even know what they have to do at a specific service, every time I had to pull out the service manual and show them what they have to do, they seemed surprised that it's more than changing the oil. Based on these experiences, I would expect that if you don't keep an eye on it yourself they would change the oil 2-4 times as often as required, and they probably would only change the oil and don't do anything else. One time they didn't even get my oil level right, way too much oil in the engine, maybe they forgot to drain the old oil completely. -
By asking them about garbage collection fees (which aren't your concern, as they should be included in the rent) you showed that you have no clue and might agree to pay extra for them. So they tried to take advantage of you and to charge you more. As others pointed out, even if these fees were charged extra (as said, those fees should be included in the rent), they would be more like 50 baht per month, not 500. The agent is very well aware of this, so obviously involved, maybe would get an extra cut from the owner if you agreed to it. So better don't interact with this agent anymore.
