US took over the country during Vietnam fiasco war. Call it what you want but..... "From 1961 to 1975, the United States Air Force deployed aircraft throughout Thailand, and these planes were responsible for the majority of USAF air strikes over North Vietnam. The first base of operations for American forces was at Takhli Royal Thai Air force Base, which is located approximately 144 miles northwest of Bangkok. USAF fighter-bombers first arrived in late 1961. The base, predating the arrival of American forces, is depicted on the map Amphoe Ta Klhi, Sheet 5060 I, AMS Series L708, which is shown below. The base is situated in the upper left of the map. Facilities such as the control tower, headquarters, living quarters, and others are indicated, but the official perimeter of the base of is not clearly discernible. Other key bases for USAF operations included Korat, Ubon, U-Tapao, and Don Muang, and Udorn. Agent Orange was employed around many of these airfields and other U.S. installations in Thailand." https://blogs.loc.gov/maps/2019/08/u-s-bases-in-thailand-during-the-vietnam-war-and-agent-orange/

What airline is the best option for domestic flights these days?
GypsyT replied to Old Fool's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I think most are free to go when ever... like me. So we take the cheapest. -
I agree everything except total car costs. I only like Imported cars. They are expensive here thanks to 300% tax! "High customs duties (between 187% and 315% of the car's value)"

I know what he's gonna do; "He goes nuts On Nut Sukhumvit and use back door..." Those women are used to it.

Wow... an other one who sees VALUE 😉Good for you. I thought I was the only one. Now I spend a little more and age gap is 30 yrs. You can get same in many countries in Asia, and Central and South America, but not so easy as in Th.

True, but where can old man like me get company of beautiful, sexy babies (not hookers!) to be with me? So, it's worth every penny they steel from me.... and get this; More they steel less I complain! That way the word gets around "He's SO dummy!" and more and more come to me 😉

Thai Baht is ruining my retirement
GypsyT replied to Jerry777's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
I did. They still are 2-3 times more expensive than Thailand or Vietnam. Portugal may be the cheapest now. If you can't afford Thailand there isn't a place in EU. Mexico, Central and South America are same as SE Asia. Not better in general. So, suck it up in Th or Vn till you kick the bucket... -

Ultralight flight carry on luggage.
GypsyT replied to Asquith Production's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
"Strict on what? I fly twice a week with both my normal day pack as well as a small hard suitcase. They do not even check weight as you can check in yourself nowadays, I always have much more than 7KG. Stop spreading nonsense, it's allowed in the first place to carry 2 items (a day pack or girl bag doesnt count as the main one)." Welcome to EU and try same 😉 They rob people like you at boarding gate... I fly El Cheapo" RyanAir a lot and see it on every flight. My last flight prices; Ticket 13,97 euros, no luggage 1st legal carry on 25,50e Same if over weight at gate 79,00euros! - so, as you see, luggage costs more than ticket... -

Is this viable for 6 months stay in Thailand
GypsyT replied to spambot's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I take Thai baby from Isan with me to visit Vn every 60 days. I also stay at least a week in Vn, some times longer up to 30 day Thai limit. Mine is 45. Works well for out & in using "Thai ONLY" line. Everybody's friendlier too. She handles both passports and feels empowered 😉 For Isan farmer this simple trip is priceless! First time out of the country! I enjoy to see how happy they are and they show it other ways too.... -
Log-in problems with yahoo mail accounts.
GypsyT replied to watthong's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
If you use Yahoo and Google get Swiss Protonmail (for free) and have all mail from both to be transferred to Proton automatically. You activate it on Proton. That way you never loose any. It's been working 100% for me for 12 mo. Soon I'll quit my last Gmail but keep Yahoo ones. Yahoo seems to work fastest if I first delete past "History" (1 or 2 days) prior to logging in. -
Good information - thanks!

Thanks for test test. Can you test close by country, like Vn or Ph vs EU? I'm curious to see what's the difference using VPN. I shop around when ordering US programs like Discovery+ and F1 & MotoGP. There's a huge difference in price.
