  1. No problems with it do far refresh it and get a new one. if you pointers on how to do that let me know.
  2. Really? those are leaders in their field. you can hear their qualifications at the beginning of the video.
  3. The 'neptune society' has a program for solo decreased. you pay while your alive and company representatives will collect your body and do a burial at sea. i think it includes repriation costs. i'm not sure how they find out your gone though. must have a note on the public record to contact them in case of emergency or some such thing. eventually, they would probably get your body or what remained of it.
  4. I wonder if the thai tax authorities will remit info to the irs in the usa, regarding taxation, like they do now with bank accounts? That could lead to audits. The irs loves to pick on expats, offshore accounts and bank accounts with foreign addresses.
  5. A loner would not want their body found. They would rather be left alone.
  6. did you want to lose the money on some level? you knew the stories and did it anyway.
  7. Buy a decent laptop.
  8. what about you? how do you retire in half a house if needed?
  9. i remember reading somewhere (don't remember where) that you had to declare all income coming in and deduct it off later. in other words, you would need to file the tax return and get a deduction for the social security and whatever else. so you may not owe money on it. you may not need to file at all if the income is under a certain amount i'm guessing. whether they can track it is another matter.
  10. i lived out in the desert for awhile and there were guys out there who lived there alone full time for years. they were always weird though, like they were afraid of interacting with others. had "no trespassing" signs all around usually, even in an isolated area. they could be seen in town occasionally going for food and supplies. often they would not give eye contact or respond when the grocery clerk made a friendly comment, etc. i'm not sure how happy they were because they stayed to themselves.
  11. your projecting again. have you considered therapy or meditation?
  12. is it really taxation if you have to file in thailand, pay tax on it and then deduct it off later or get a refund?
  13. Only option then would be to pay by card and dispute with the bank later on and get it re-done somewhere else. I'm not sure how that works in Thailand in terms of getting the money back. dispute reason is services not rendered or received backed up with pictures and the new mechanics recommendation on having it re-done.
  14. Just because you took it to the second place does not mean they are correct. Could the bike have been crashed by the second place? The second places recommendations may not be accurate. I guess you could self inspect the brake yourself and see if it looks new or not. If it were me I would take it back to the first place and ask them to fix it vorrectly free of charge, not just go from place to place paying for the work to be re-done. Talk to the manager and the mechanic who did it loses a little face and does it vorrectly. check for brakes leaks before you drive home in case they got pissed off.
  15. do you keep a little black book with a running list? ????
  16. Maybe it was intentional and Brazil deserved it. Maybe he is acting dumb to appear weak. ????
  17. they probably opened as part of the "family friendly" push for the area. kind of like going to disneyland in the usa and eating at hooters with the teenage kids. its not really "nasty", but it's enough for a family to say we went there and did that rather then just rejecting the area altogether. when they grt home they have some pictures with the hooters hostesses and can tell people they went to pattaya or sin city.
  18. Hooters is not a match for the pattaya customer base. I doubt they will re-open here.
  19. You probably just don't realize that things can go sour. Lack of worldy experience or naive.
  20. Exactly. Many people don't get it. I can only speak for the Usa, but once you hit 50 your chances of getting hired in the Usa at a new job are very slim. So you have a certain income or savings. You don't to be a rocket scientist to understand that living in a cheaper location is the way to go. Even if you had a major medical priblem you would likely still be better off in Thailand (the cost of living in the Usa would likely eat up any benefit you got from medicare unless the illness was timed just right).
  21. The p4p stuff is risky in other areas as well. everyone talks about bar fines and such, but there are other risks underneath the surface far more serious. people stealing stuff from rooms (laptops, passports, rings, etc). people putting stuff in your coffee to knock you out, witnesses and cameras at the condo or hotel monitoring who you are with, moto taxi guys as witnesses informing on you, catching someone stealing something and you hit them when they fight back and they hit their head on something...and a record there to backup false accusations and possible police problems later on. the list goes on and on, the more you do it your chances increase of a serious problem. it's not possible to eliminate all risk by being careful. any serious problem and your packing home and your financial plans get blown to the wind.
  22. dating goes downhill in the usa real fast for single guys over 50
