  1. They use their own lawyer. The funds get put into an escrow account. Any lawyer can verify the escrow deposit, or the seller can verify it themselves. It’s not the lawyers account, but an escrow company.
  2. Sounds easy, but not that easy in real life. Once your excited about a property it’s hard to insist on every little detail. You get faced with a rushed lawyer, or tired of the process and just want to get it over with, and every little thing is not done perfectly.
  3. Money is handed over after the property is signed over, not before. Lawyer should have held the money in escrow until the papers were signed by both parties.
  4. I started doing “silent ride” grab trips. You can mark it as a free option when requesting a ride. Drivers hate it. Most drivers will turn on the radio (allowed under the silent ride option) and do other strange stuff because they are uncomfortable with any type of silence or non-engagement. Any breaking of the rule it’s a big zero reviewed trip and they get called less for other rides through the app.
  5. The idea is that they are not really happy. They paired up for something external (money) so are just tolerating each others presence to enjoy that external thing. If your just tolerating something it’s like working a dead end job, your not really happy. Any enjoyment will be directed to the thing (money) and not the other person. The person cannot be absolutely equated with the side benefit, it will never be him or her, only something they own. In other words, positive interaction with the partner is faked, in order to enjoy the side benefit.
  6. Do you ever feel like your dating your daughter when you date a much younger woman?
  7. Not quite sure what you blabbing on about, but when you are dating your daughter it looks weird. There’s no avoiding it. It looks strange.
  8. Actually, it looks weird. When your with someone that looks like your daughter it looks weird in public. There’s no way of avoiding it. You need to overcome the feeling of people staring and gossiping.
  9. There is a guy who does it in Jomtein Pattaya. I see him eating at a cafe around breakfast. Has an electric wheel chair, paraplegic I think. Has one of those notepads in front, so little use of arms, not sure. so it CAN be done, you just get a room like in one of the view talays with a big elevator near the Main Street and use restaurants nearby. Beach is there with wide sidewalk, bars are there, foods there, immigration is there. he looks stuck in that one area, but That could be better then his alternatives if he is low on money. Much better then being in the USA for example at a boarding house in a big city, which can be pretty bad if your low income. the question is getting situated over here and getting settled in. In a worse case scenario I could see hiring a bargirl somewhere for assistance finding a place and with whatever else as needed. the other concern is if something weird happens you’re kind of vulnerable. Like a bank problem, visa run, medical problem or something where it’s not easy to just get up move quickly. There’s no center for the disabled or support services that can step in (as far as I know). there are also guys in walkers in Jomtein and much older guys that are not very mobile, so it would be possible to find a support system with friends around there.
  10. One way to never have the money problem in Thai-Foreigner relationships. Easy. Only pair up with someone who makes more then you do. ????
  11. I don't think I could make it in Asia if I were physically disabled if I were solo. The mobility issues are just too great. Downtown Bangkok would likely be my first choice as it has sidewalks in most places downtown and food and necessities streetside. If your in a smaller town and your chair breaks down or something, your stuck without being near someplace that could repair it or where you could buy another. If something happened you want to be nearby food, banks, etc without having to travel very far.
  12. You can’t avoid Thailand by living on a high balcony near the sea. Your going to get something that interferes, either some development or the thai people themselves.
  13. I can’t see many Thais being able to function at all in another country or under any heavy challenges. It seems like they would be overwhelmed and just return home. Maybe that’s why they are not big on international travel. It would be like sending a kid on a gap year trip during high school. They could do it under heavy supervision but it would need to be all planned out in advance and would not last very long.
  14. Yeah, I will go for that as an additional descriptor. Or, instability. A kind of childish emotional instability of mood and behavior.
  15. They can also do face recognition searches online now. So for example from your ThaiFriendly or line profile. Match it to Facebook and get in contact with employer from linked in or family on Facebook. If you use a gif or fake profile images, and make all contact info private your pretty safe but it’s hard to do consistently. Most people forget to do something and can be traced. Depends on how determined they are, easier marks are easier. Also, if you rent a place on a lease, someone complains and gets access to your passport on record. Personal info is not really protected here, someone asks nicely at the desk or says they are pregnant and here you are with the docs.
  16. I’m not talking about that type of impatience where people linger. I’m talking about being mentally distracted and inpatient. For example, chatting or gossiping for hours and sitting somewhere, but going quickly from subject to subject or not being able to discuss anything in depth or in a meaningful interesting way. Or lingering somewhere, but bouncing from activity to activity in a superficial way (or shopping at the tesco for hours, but not getting what you need, just tossing whatever into the basket and not remembering about what you came to get specifically because you’re too distracted mentally).
  17. Slow walking could be do to the heat. I’m talking about mental impatience, not how fast someone moves or drives.
  18. I have noticed that Thai people always seem to be in a rush. Another term may be distracted by things or inpatient. This goes for the city of course, but also less populated areas. It seems much worse then the USA where I am from. I have met a few people that seem very calm, but they are exceptional and rare to meet. Why are people so rushed or distracted all the time? It’s like they never relax. Is it cultural?
  19. You don’t need to worry about it then. I think there is a golf forum on here, maybe a fishing forum.
  20. Why does a receipt matter if they are being evicted? The landlord sees it as non payment. The police would see it as a civil dispute between tenant and landlord and still remove them. Receipts would need to be reviewed by a court much later on. A lease would not matter much either if the landlord was determined to get them out. It could help in court later on for fines or punishment if it ever came to that. In reality that rarely happens as it costs more to the tenant then just moving. In the end, it’s more about being able to trust who you are dealing with. It always comes down to trust and iron clad contracts are very rare, there is always some way to wiggle out.
  21. That makes sense. It’s kinda weird that they won’t document though. I hope there’s no problem claiming from Thailand if that ever happens. The only insurance I ever really felt confident in worldwide was geoblue global based in the USA, but it was quite expensive of course, so I never got it.
  22. There’s a guy at my condo bldg who looks like that guy. He sits around the pool every day. I think these dodgy blokes like pools. They always seem to be around the pool for some reason. They are usually stag (alone) around the pool.
  23. Many people use those to keep the landlord and maids out while your gone. just a fyi if your neighbor has one.
