Places as good as Pattaya for single men?
JimTripper replied to rott's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I lived in CM for years, and that was back when I was young and fit. Meeting women there is much easier then in the USA for example, but it's pretty dire for Thailand in general. I'm not sure why, as it's a decent size city. Thailand is not like years past where you could just meet anybody. It could just be me getting older though. When you get older and slower it's much harder to attact romantic attention unless you are in a go-go, body massage or red light area. It's also more difficult to get around as much because your more tired and don't have the stamina and energy to party hard and really get out there and make an effort to socialize. So if your looking for magical places that are better then Pattaya they are not easy to find unless you are getting younger ????♂️ or just hit the lottery. -

There are plenty of places better, if you can afford it. -
I went to the dentist in Thailand and I had an x-ray on the reclining chair. The assistant pushed the wrong button and the chair angled me down so I was head first towards the floor. The dentist came in and said sorry she pushed the wrong button.

Did you say it was not allowed before you got in?

I have had cabbies not want to do a shorter trip after being told a destination when I get in. If I had gotten in and just said 'drive', and he accepted, that's different. I think his reasoning was that he agreed to pickup only because it was worth it for him at that time (for example, the airport to downtown where he could get another customer). Just staying 'stop' anywhere and getting out was a breach of the contract similar to the cabbie just stopping anywhere where there were no other cabs around and simply telling me 'get out'. I did not have this conversation in Thai, it usually just means the guy looks real tense and makes some sort of high pitched vocalization I can't understand. ????♂️

What do you do if they don't stop the car when you ask to get out? Or insist on going to an agreed upon destination as part of a contract when you got in? My solution to this was once opening the door while the cab was still moving in traffic.

There are plenty of prudish people in the world who won't go anywhere near Thailand, or even Asia, due to the sexpat reputation it has. Ditto, any nightlife location where you find skint customers. Sure, you may get some straggler wealthy people, but it's an exception. If you want wealthy families and such, the reputation needs to be cleared so people with images to maintain don't get tarnished. That means getting rid of seedy venues. Not saying it's right or wrong, just reality. If you disagree the stigma exists go back to your home country and tell everyone you have been sitting in a Thailand go-go and watch their responses. It's not for high class oriented people. The high class orientation typically means wealthier in most cases, as they are gravitating to goods and services that set them apart from middle and lower classes. A lot of it is reputation and image.

With bars and nightlife closed I do think a different quality of people will come around, eventually. If they want family friendly and classy people that is what they need to do. However, making the country a name for itself in this niche could take many years and would probably never be able to compete with established destinations in this regard.
