  1. It varies, but my guess is if you don't break a hip you would live longer then if you do break a hip.
  2. Yes, but...if you're from a more affulent country it's hard to be satified with less. Living in a small 10k room may sound like a great deal, but when you actually live there it's not so great. You can deny it for awhile, but eventually you feel like moving, but find the same situation in the new chosen location (if it's in a cheap country). You were not really happy in those cheap guesthouses, just justifying it by saying you were traveling or a backpacker.
  3. ...and find out quickly you want to keep moving around because something is never ideal 🤣
  4. They tend to follow procedure and rules and not make up policy on the spot. Your lucky.
  5. Well, I'm assuming you have some free time. Stay a couple months in each and report back. It's a pretty short flight and monthly Airbb are cheap. If it does not work out you have not lost anything.
  6. Incorrect, Thailand is cheaper.
  7. Be careful if you walk up that sidewalk or trail along the canal late at night that leads to angkor wat. A bunch of prostitutes came out of the bushes/trees at me in the dark. They seemed predatory, just moving towards me without saying anything.
  8. I started doing Bangkok trips also while I was there. I kept finding a reason to goto Bangkok.
  9. I'm talking about daily life, not particular activities. If you don't get what that means, I can't help you. I don't have a list or a menu to show you.
  10. I live in Chiang Mai now which is a much bigger city then Siem Reap. I pretty much do what I did in Siem Reap, there are just many more venues to do those things in and they stay open later. When I'm not going to the same places every day life is more interesting because there is more variety, even if I am doing the same activities in those places. There are also more people around so it's easier to meet people.
  11. How long have you lived in Siem Reap? I was bored out of my mind there after 9 months. If not, how do you fill your time?
  12. Do they have polish sausage there? May be a retirement option, never been there.
  13. You brought yourself with you wherever you went.
  14. Sorry for another negative Nelly post. Sometimes it seems like many of the things I enjoy and find relaxing the Thai's I meet don't like. Quiet, trees, privacy, being alone, thinking before acting, planning for the future, self-denial, regulation of impulses and drives, compassion for animals, quiet enjoyment of nature, doing "nothing'...Can you add to the list? That really sucks when I think about it. That's the case back in the USA as well. The difference for me there was I was living on my own, not around many people, and I could well choose who I wanted to be associated with. In Thailand I'm having to constantly deal with people I don't want to be around. When I ignore them they come at me, rather then just doing their own thing, like people do in the USA.
  15. I was doing that, just getting a new O-A visa every two years. I liked going back to the Usa anyway. However, the living situation in my home country became more problematic when I just left my property derelict. For example, the property started requiring hefty repairs (no running water, water pump went out), it was hard to store my car outside without it getting ruined so I had to rent one, etc. The cost of fixing these things would be rather expensive and not really worth returning for the O-A. If I did go back and fix everything it would be a waste of money to just leave right away. That's another reason why Mexico may be a better option for me. I could travel easier back to the property, fix and maintain things and keep it as a realistic backup living situation.
  16. People buying off plan are probably duped by fancy brochures and salespeople. Or, they are shown a display unit with a bunch of nice furniture and think there unit will be the same.
  17. Expats expecting morality principals to apply in other countries where they are not valued. Vs here where if someone does wrong it tends to be ignored. "They are just trying to be happy" sort of thing, nevermind. Like there's some rainbow at the end you can't see yet.
  18. Lying, lack of the honesty morality principle.
  19. Do you know how to get a bank balance letter? Let me know if you need help.
  20. Also, the gentleman's duel.
  21. You found someone who you thought had morals and found out they were a hooker.
  22. In places where they are allowed they tend to be controlled and surrounded with those wood bracing structures, not just left alone to grow by themselves. The ones that are too big for that often have that Buddhist stuff on them at the trunk.
  23. Did he want to violate you?
