  1. White Dating Culture
  2. I would check to make sure the owner can't walk away from the lease, if you want that kind of security. It feels like in Thailand they usually have that option, at least for rentals.
  3. Other countries have a lease to own, but it's more for vehicles, at least in the USA. Meaning, you are making payments like renting but you can end up buying the property if you make payments long enough (although you would be paying much more then simply purchasing outright). Conversely, you can break the lease and walk away. I don't think Thailand has many of these lease setups. It's just rent or buy.
  4. Thai supremacy has that weird sneer aspect that they seem to have perfected. I don't see it in other cultures. It's a particular way of looking down on something I have not encountered before. One could call it passive-aggressive I suppose. It seems to be almost a perversion of the smile, exhibiting a particular facial gesture. To me it's more repulsive then a white guy mouthing off or shouting slurs, or that sort of thing.
  5. They guys I have heard talk about it don't seem to care what other people think at all. When the subject came up they just say it's great and are unwilling to accept any possible negatives, including walking away if I persisted. It's not about convincing other people a small ratty room or crappy building is great. I can give Nirun in Pattaya as an example. With guys getting drunk down at those corner bars. One mention of the living situation and it's all hunky dory with no drawbacks whatsoever (even though everyone knows those rooms suck and that building sucks).
  6. We need to put them in the Maldives and see what happens for a fair comparison, not Phuket & Kampot.
  7. That's nice, but I'm not really interested. I want to see some other users posting some small dismal rooms. Anyone here living in a shoebox want to post some pics and what you are paying?
  8. You were on the bottom floor? No view probably made it feel much smaller. What facing side were you on? A lot of the problem with VT2B for me (other then the shoebox room) was just felling like it was a dead end. It felt like a last stop for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on. Probably because of the older guys around and not many young people in their 20's-30's around.
  9. I would include any garden or balcony area in the dwelling size. To me that's livable space. So it's really much larger then 125sqm. A 35 sqm dwelling on a large garden plot is great. Thst's why large windows and light are so important. It feels like there is unlimited space even if it's a small condo.
  10. I agree. I can't live in tiny rooms unless I had to (35 sqm). I can do it short term if it has a window 😅 (a month max), but not long term. 95 sqm is comfortable for me. My point is, that many of these guys who live in the shoebox rooms use denial as a waybof coping with the situation. Trying to trick their mind into being happy with it.
  11. They act like they like it and don't care about the shoebox room. I think it's just denial or financial difficulty. It was even worse in Cambodia.
  12. It matters. You can be out in the desert and you can find things to do, but it's not easy. Some people need an environment where activities are approachable and suited to their personalities. Stop acting like there is something wrong with people who are not satisfied in any environment. I'm sick and tired of that Bs.
  13. Not many are really smart here, so there was probably not much of a choice.
  14. I had a chinese guy sit next to me at the buffet and i had to guard my food.
  15. Just dress normally and everyone with think it's a fake. Fake watches are extremely common here. They would not think it's real unless you stand out in other ways to suggest that.
  16. In Japan that's desirable in a man. Comes from those big Sumo guys. They it as meaning your well off and fed (can afford more food).
  17. Apart from the stupidity & funny aspect of the video, it's about never "manning up" to anything. Notice how he never has the spine to actually answer the question asked by the interviewer. He just deflects and makes excuses. That's probably how he treats life and challenges also, not just during this interview.
  18. It's hard to believe how times have changed. I have not looked at a SI swimsuit issue since the 1980's. It's not all about females, it's everybody. There's also a woke guy problem. Watch this video.
  19. You're gonna give up on being here real quick if you need to border bounce every 60 days. I did it for awhile many years ago and it was a pretty short bus trip cm-tachilek (closed now I think). Even then it wore me out quickly and jaded me even more.
