Barclays Bank to close UK accounts for British expats
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Don't know if it works this way in England. But, what I do is keep a bank account in the US for my pension to flow into. Then siphon it off into an investment bank so I can use my ATM and spend my money. That way the bank thinks I am in the US. Even though I have a home in the US and a mailing address I used to have problems with the bank. As I was gone for years at at time. Also I go into the accounts and set it up where it is paperless. All mail is sent to my e-mail account. And statements are on line only. -
British Tourist's Robber Captured After Nightlong Hunt

Not relevant I guess, but all the years living there the only time someone tried to scam me was a guy from my home country. -
People are slowly stopping the wealth transfer. Chinese economy is in shambles. No amount of slide of hand can save them at this point IMO. The stock market is a joke plain and simple. When they were booming western investment was crazy, with no transparency what so ever. Now, the Chinese stock market is all but dead to real investors. Only an idiot would invest in that mess. Common knowledge now, if you want to loose money invest in China. Thailand is heading that direction. Thailand is in step with China, wanting to suck up all the western investment possible and in return give nothing. Look at the expat idiots that invest in property and homes in Thailand. What kind of moron gives all their money to a country with no rights what so ever and no ownership rights for land.. It's no wonder China and Thailand have such a dim view of western expats and investors. When idiots give their life savings with no thought. I mean, if a Chinese or Thai? , I agree with them. Westerners are idiots plain and simple. So ramp up the transfer. Problem is thankfully westerner's as dim as they are. Have started to wise up and have stopped the transfer. Oh, and I am a westerner.

I spent 6 months touring Laos. Less than a year ago. The roads are un drivable, economy is in shambles. The debt to China is killing that country. Everything in the malls are cheap Chinese copies. Of mostly western wear. Everyone you talk to blames the government and the railway. Everyone I talked to said before the government got mixed up with China and the railway . The roads were 100% better , now they do not have the budget to fix them. Heavy trucks from China have decimated the roads and the rail system has decimated the economy. Conclusion, you have no idea what you are talking about. Period.

Disappointment in Srettha’s Putin Phuket invitation
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This has pretty much sealed Thailands fate. Now, no western company will come into Thailand and invest. If that is what he was after he succeeded. There is no telling how many investment dollars this will cost Thailand. -
I went to a dentist that was on the board of Dentistry in BKK. An older man about 60. Spoke English well and I had gone to him in the past. But, he pulled my teeth without x-rays or anything. If getting implants you need a full set of x-rays then a periodontist to do a full work up. And you don't need your teeth pulled just because they are loose I found out later. I would not set foot in a place in Thailand again. And if you do, make sure you do your homework and know exactly what needs to be done before you commit to anything. Don't go in blind like I did.

Ok, here is the latest. I opted for the treatment, I have my first surgery in two weeks.. It is pretty extensive. I will have two bone graft's. 4 extractions and two implants on the first surgery. And remember I already had 3 extractions in Thailand. But without support my teeth drifted and they need to be pulled to line everything up. I also opted for 3 more extractions because they were teeth that had been worked on in the past and I don't want to have to worry about them later. In the very back of my mouth. I am getting old and this will hopefully be my last big expense on my teeth. They will give me a full set of dentures while the graft's heal. Then in 6 months I return for the remaining implants. Three months later my new teeth... I really do not know if this is to expensive, but I do know the profesionalism is off the charts here. Also I realize everyone has their own opinion. After this and Thailand, I would never recommend Thailand. Total: 12K. US dollars. Forgot, the grafts are because of the big teeth in the back, after they pull them I will not have enough bone to hold the implants in two locations. And they are close to a major nerve and he does not want to risk any problems.. Also after this I will go in every 6 months to my periodontist , have my gums checked and try and stop anything bad from happening before it gets started. I will post again after the surgery if interested with pics.

If people would read, step back and take a broad view of what is going on in Thailand, they would see what is going on. The days of misdirection by China and others is Over. Thailand was just taking its cue's from China on how to set up a government to appease the West. Thailand has been saying for Years what they wanted, and are putting it in action. It is no secret what so ever.

Disappointment in Srettha’s Putin Phuket invitation
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"a concerning trajectory for a nation that has freshly emerged from the shadows of a military junta." hahaha I don't think anyone with a brain is fooled about this..! Thailand is clearly not on the fence anymore. They are clearly with China, Russia. If they think they are fooling the west then they are very mistaken. And that is all this election was for. -
If Kim Jong Un would have been in that pic. It would of rounded it out nicely..

"I suppose as usual I am out of the mainstream step. I fully support Putin, I think he is the world's leading statesman who makes Biden look like a village idiot. I think his war in Ukraine is entirely justified and when he meets his maker (if there is a maker) he'll come out just fine. The Lavrov/Putin team is exceptional, no diplomatically phrased lies just cold hard facts about the US that the propagandised west cannot understand. Ask one of your friends what are the rules od "rules based order". No one knows, they have never been discussed, agreed or published from any forum. Then look at the back-ups. The west better hope that Putin doesn't get sick because Medvedev will finish the war in two days (OK a bit shorter that Donald Trump will???????). The Russian have leadership in depth and the west has, well Rushi, or Emmanuel Napoleon, or Scholz, or god forbid, Biden and Blinken." Well said, I believe Stalin and mao. are left out.. But, spot on..

Thailand is a dictatorship. Not to the degree of Russia and China yet.. But, it is getting there. Basically the Military have the power for ever now. Just a matter of time , before a military leader carves out his life long leadership and joins the ranks of the of the others.

Next, visa requirements will be increased to levels where Westerners and a few others will not be able or willing to deposit it in the banks. Government will start hyping up anti western sentiment to where the locals will start intimidating the expats and tourists. Won't be long now.. This move guarantee's no western company will invest in Thailand. So, all hopes will be with China and Russia. As investments and money flows in from the two and none from the west. That is basically it. Mission acomplished.

Wonder if Thailand will join BRICS.

You guys need to start reading the tea leaves. At this point it doesn't matter what anyone says. If Westerner, European, Japanese, your days are numbered in big T. It's not going to matter if you start waving the Chinese or Russian flag, if a westerner you are going to be ousted..

I had bought a ticket to Colombia, and my dentist suggested a dentist here. I went and had a full mouth x-ray. About 20 shots and then a full rotation, 37.5 dollars. Got a consultation from the surgeon , 37.5 dollars. The surgeon had already brought the x-rays into a software program and we talked for about 30 minutes, said I needed a bone graph. Showed me why, and every detail. They had a 3D printing machine there, they make a casting of your upper and lower teeth. Then print them for the surgery. That way they can just insert the molds in your mouth and drill and insert the screws. Working up a price now for the total.. I am afraid to see it.. My guess the implants will be out of my range? But, will post it when I get it. Also I will talk to the dentist about a bridge. I have a friend with a bridge, and they said it was much cheaper and it was ok. This is not the cheapest place for dental work for sure. While living in Thailand I had my teeth cleaned and cavities filled. No problem. But, never at this level. Not even close. Doctor said , it they would have done a deep cleaning and stopped the gum decease I would not have these problems. Never once was there talk of anything. not sure if lack of knowledge or just didn't care.

I think to keep in good standings with Putin they need to increase the visa on arrival to 90 days with mother Russia. Just my opinion. -
Domestic violence shock: Thai celebrity’s assault on girlfriend
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you are going to run around on your supposed serious relationship. Expect to be caught from time to time. Beating her up though is another thing all together. Just bow out , and cut the cord as peacefully as possible. Money seems to solve all these problems in Thailand. Drop a few baht and move on. -
Cabinet Approves Visa Extension for Russian Tourists
Gknrd replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand doesn't want Western or European tourists or expats! Thailand is one of the only SE Asian autocracy's that politically support China. Vietnam hates China. And is cashing in on China's decoupling. China is using Thailand as a way to bypass sanctions on China. It won't be long before Thailand will have western sanctions placed on it. That will further escalate tensions and drive them closer to China for financial support. If Chinese, Thailand is where you want to be. If a western living or visiting there you are basically screwed.- 120 replies

Cabinet Approves Visa Extension for Russian Tourists
Gknrd replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Just goes to show you how Thailand political system is in step with the Chinese. China supports Russia, now Thailand supports Russia in their own way. Just another day with Thailands TCP.. Of course the Western expats and tourists will be the losers here in the long run. Most Westerners with a head on their shoulders and the funds have left Thailand or now know the problems they face. Thailand is heading down the same road as China with out a doubt. I am curious to see what Thailand is like in ten years. If China can make the changes to deal with the geopolitical problems it faces then Thailand may be in good shape. If not then what happens to Thailand is pretty dismal IMO.- 120 replies
