  1. Seriously considering abandoning IOS , I had some big issues with paying for goods with my new Thai Visa Mastercard when I tried to purchase some items in US dollars. Phone calls with BBL helpline sorted it, but a bit of a pain... Oppo Reno 13, Oneplus 13T are top of my list, did consider Samsung A56, some mixed reviews out there.... Google Pixel 9A, but for some reason Thailand is not on the 32 country list of it being sold.... bit baffling.
  2. we'll agree to disagree, its a fish sauce/condiment in our house, Sold by the bucket load in the market.... Pla ra (ปลาร้า) differs from other fermented fish sauces in several key ways, including its ingredients, texture, fermentation process, and flavor profile. Below is a detailed comparison: 1. Ingredients Pla Ra: Made with freshwater fish (e.g., snakehead fish or catfish), salt, and rice bran or roasted rice powder. The inclusion of rice products is unique to pla ra and contributes to its distinct aroma and flavor. Other Fish Sauces: Typically made with saltwater fish (e.g., anchovies) and salt, without the addition of rice products.

  5. I'm here for the rants and raves, though since the orange man is now in charge the topics are getting tedious. Stick to Thailand..... Especially the old favourites: My wife was the cashier How much allowance do you give your TW/GF/BF Should I pay Sinsot My GF is a hot uni hi-so Is Pattaya a family resort Do I wai everyone Show us what you built here...... 8. Lord & Lady Sutus were there last week, annual extension. Guinness and farang food fix. Had four days of breakfasts in Cheap Charlies, my self the 99B one and wife the 159B one. A couple of issues, cold beans, and eggs not fried long enough. Their white bread is very good, not the usual sweet Thai breads, and a fine cup of tea. One thing I find irritating is the staff plonk the bill on the table before any food has arrived. Well that's just me, too much fine dining in the Mess.... Used to go to Nicky's when it was at the old address, good scran there too, but I have mobility issues these days and easier to go to CC's.....

  12. No, for the last 19 years both our phones in the wife's account. The lady at AIS counter completely understood, I had to pay up my last bill by cash, and she opens new AIS account. They give you a slip of paper with details and you show that to BBL counter staff. Thinking back, I should have gone to our local AIS store and Bangkok Bank and done before. Unless it changes I will be better prepared for next year......
  13. Used Maneerat last Tuesday for retirement extension renewal. A few changes from previous year. Go to immigration first in Jomtien, have photo taken, Go to Central shopping mall AIS shop and get mobile account in my name. Go to Bangkok Bank in mall and get daily allowance changed to 1 mill Baht on mobile banking app. Lady at desk very helpful, a few forms to sign and photo taken. Go to Beach Road Bangkok Bank, Bank seating area packed with foreigners, Wait to be called to counter........ I waited two hours., I'm not writing about what happens next, its all smoke & mirrors....., but no charges for bank transfers, save 1800B from last year. Passport gets mailed back to you Spend two days with wife chilling on the beach. Go back to the boonies....

  19. Find it strange that the other participants in this case have never been named. When the British couple are back in the UK i expect more details to come out. The Mail, Sun, Mirror etc have some sort of agenda with Thailand.
  20. Sky News is owned by Sky Group Limited, which is a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation, a large American telecommunications conglomerate. Comcast acquired Sky Group in 2018 for approximately $39 billion, making it the new owner of Sky News12. Owned by Spams now, hence the lefty bias......??
