  1. I would try to get the refund. At worse they will say No. Are they there 24hrs a day?
  2. Yes, I am NRL (non resident Landlord) as far as HMRC concerned. But that doesn't mean you are exempt from paying UK tax on Thai earnings. I don't think you can take advantage of the tax free amount on Thai earnings you should ask an accountant. Having retired and getting a fixed state pension because I live here. Not being entitled to future increases. I don't see why I should pay tax on Thai earnings to HMRC. If it's down to self reporting because Thai Revenue don't inform HMRC. You have an answer of sorts! Personally I have no intention of informing HMRC of anything related to Thailand other than I live here.
  3. My accountant kept asking me about earnings in Thailand. My understanding is that the HMRC expect you to declare any Thai earnings. They accept Thai Tax have first call on taxing Thai income. But. If income tax is 15% here. HMRC will want the other 5% to match the 20% tax in the UK. Depending on how the money was earned, Thai Revenue may or may not inform HMRC. I think it's down to you to declaring Thai earnings to HMRC. I don't think Thai revenue inform HMRC. Not 100% sure though.

  5. Talk about manufactured hysteria! It was a weather balloon.
  6. On the other hand you could be arrested for working on a tourist Visa!
  7. Israel has tried a number of times to make peace with the Palestinians. On each occasion the Palestinians rejected peace. So really the Palestinians have deprived themselves of Life, Liberty, and Happiness.
  8. It's very relevant. The Palestinians deny the right of Israel to exist. Until they accept that right, they themselves will not have a nation.
  9. The Palestinian Arabs do not support a two state solution. As they say it takes two to tango.
  10. If they say Feb 21st, make sure you go. It doesn't matter who is right. But you will be wrong if you don't go.
  11. If you are transferring a really large amount of money. Why transfer in one go? better to play the exchange rates, and transfer in smaller amounts. But you really should check out bank fees first. I think you will find Bank Fees are a lot higher than using a money transfer site like wise.com for any amount.
  12. Why not try wise.com to transfer funds to Thailand. They probably give one of the best exchange rates for transfers. Even better than sending sending USD to a bank in Thailand. And letting them convert to THB.
  13. Churchill was right! “The best argument against Democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”
  14. My birthday is early March. I deferred my pension for two months thinking I would get the increase from April. I did not get the new increase. But because I deferred for two months, those two months bumped up my pension a few quid. That is my experience of doing what the OP is thinking of doing.
  15. deferring your pension won't get you the increase from April 6th. You only get what you would have got on your original retirement date. But if you don't have full pension contributions, it will increase the amount of pension you get by deferring receiving the pension.
  16. 1) Get new passport now 2) transfer current visa to new passport 3) Don't need to carry old passport and new passport when returning to Thailand 4) don't forget re-entry permit before leaving Thailand
  17. She won't win because no one wins against any government. As for any grit she may have, is firmly lodged in her brain. She is just a puppet. With Sanctions affecting Europe more than it's intended target (Russia). Europe has no choice but to burn coal or scrap the sanctions. She is becoming irrelevant. Climate change is a hoax.

  19. Going around asking to buy land is a great way to get ripped off. But if you must. Maybe the best way is to ask the chief of the village if they know anyone who wants to sell some land.
