Netherlands isn't car dependent and people cycle to work and there are bike paths everywhere. In general, a lot of places in Europe are more walkable. The US made cities car-dependent. But maybe a lot of other things about the Netherlands suck. Never lived there. In general, I think many countries in europe had at least 4 weeks (if not 6) off in summers. Then the US came along and cut the vacations down to 2 weeks and exarcebated workaholism and made the 60 hour workweek cool. And perfected the rat race, which makes everyone miserable.
