Intoxicated British Man Beaten by Two Thai Men in Pattaya
Shop mak replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
1 fight wasn't enough? Ready for round #2. "The authorities had to pacify the man before they could administer first aid" "the foreign man began relentlessly disturbing the men, causing them to become irritated and beat him as a result." "Ms. Euaamporn emphasized that she had already told the foreigner to leave the men alone and go home, but he did not listen." Seems like he was looking for a Fight, doesn't it. -
OP, Follow KhunLa post above. Cheaper models available in a few shops and online Lazada, but the build quality are very low. Batteries need to be replaced within 6 months, if used daily. Things to check: Adjustable seat height, else you almost sit on the road. Easy removable battery to charge indoors. Working suspension or lack of. Spare parts, good luck with that. Former buyer of a 7,000 baht model, and never again

Landlord issues and agency issues
Shop mak replied to PattayaKevin's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Your landlord is a thai and might be a bully. From your description at least. They all claim to have influental friends, some do, most do not. But he might bring a friend impersonating a official to make you scared. Landlord have conflict also with the association, and they haven't done anything about it? Agency seems to be on landlord side? No foreigner in the agency? Small repairs up to 1-2,000 often falls on tenant, should be in your contract. Owners right to inspect his property should also be in your contract, owner contact tenant 1 day in advance before inspection repair. Is this written in the contract? Your contract should be crystal clear about early termination if a standard contract was used. Typically one loose all deposit, and that's the end of it, unless tenant has done damage to the property. Whatever you plan to do next, don't reveal it to landlord. Personally, I would not communicate with landlord, no confrontations or threats. Nothing. You need a mature Thai in-between, who understand how these conflicts are done, and nothing lost in translation. It takes time, patience and lots of negotiations back and forth. Your thai gf wifes father or uncle would be my first option. They could handle this while you are away. Lawyers gonna cost you big time. 'Initiate' is the clue here. Next time, ask expats ahead about what agency they know is reliable and fair. -
Top speed seems to be 30-35km/h, many can pedal much faster than that. Not me though. Safety is a concern, never to be ignored.

OP is back online today and posting, I take that as all went ok.

Is Lazada a good place to buy an android phone (google pixel)
Shop mak replied to recom273's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
If buy on Lazada, final prize is set. Customs never intervene. -
Most would say, OP problem number 1 is easy to solve. OP's 2'nd problem: The danger of aircon, used by Billions of people around the world, still OP are really worried? OP's 3'rd problem Air pollution .... Well WTH do you expect moving to a capital with 10 million people and 20 million vehicles? Air pollution right now checked on IqAir is the same in Stoke-On-Trent UK as in BKK 12 degrees VS 32 degrees, hard to choose aye? Thailand isn't for everyone, unless one is able to adjust, shut up, bite your tonque, accept that things are done differently in this part of the world. Still way better than the rain fog smog and Cold back home, innit?

In Thailand: Are You a Walking Billboard?
Shop mak replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I wear my birth suit every day. Gamma... Quality more than quantity. Fine dining more than street food. Shoes more than sandals. Car more than motorcycle. House more than condo. Educated lady more than a slut. There is a point above, somewhere... and the sabattical you wrote about, was rather short lived .. we might dear older brother: I noticed that when you reply to others topic, you are a total different person. You research or know and add proof links to your posts, that are really helpful and interesting (can't believe I said that) Would you kindly consider to do the same, when you create a new topic? Quality content + interesting for many people. Spandex etc not beeing one of them. Nor todays this OP. And ... while I may have your attention, 99,9% of others OP, they only write 1 post only ----- while you often have post #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 ... I actually think once you had 7 or 8 first posts. (Made me think: do he actually want replies, or is he only talking with himself) If you took 2-3 hours away from the keyboard after your first and only post, (rather than drowning the readers with another 5,000 words) I think you would get more meaningful replies, rather than all the jokes that get posted in replies to your OP. Reply to others OP is your Forte. Creating interesting OP, def. not. If your 'glass is half full' then you take this posts as it was ment. However, if you are 'half empty glass type of guy-, then I'm scrxxxed now. Love Ya, brother -
You think?? Yesterday I was driving down beach road, in the middle of the road just outside 5 Star bar, they dig up the road, again. Beach road footpath walkway is supposed to be finished before high season supposed to start in october 'so they said'. I guess they got both things wrong. Time will tell. So did I until a month ago, when they started digging up everywhere. Time to get out of Dodge' I told myself, and moved out until this mudhell pool of a road is finished, someday... Got my unit rented out in 9 days, says a lot about how much some people want to stay in Buakhao 15. All thai people I talked with was told it would be finished in 1 month. That still make me laugh.

There are some condos with central aircon same as hotel rooms. No ugly compressor unit. That is until your own condo units a/c stop working, often in less than 10 years from personal experience. Replace it cost far more than a stand alone split compressor unit. So most will then buy a split type a/c with a big ugly compressor outdoors. If you really found the perfect condo as you say, you are nitpicking about the compressor unit, and have many options given by members here. Can't stop thinking .... do you really want to invest 6-?? Million baht on a 2br condo, or is something else holding you back? Every problem has a solution. If the solution isn't good enough, maybe something else is the actual problem. Hot air flow can be redirected, and the ugly unit can be totally hidden. Problem solved. No? You can probably conclude that majority accept how it's done here, or find a solution like larger size balcony or move/build in (hide) the compressor unit.

DITY was common here in the 90's, in some bars. So lame action these days. Cue: curtain bars and gentlemens club.
-
Look at their website as a teaser, since they clearly don't do a daily or weekly update of their listings. Not until anyone show interest will they call owner and maybe update to rented/sold. You'll save time by go to a agents office, and tell them what you look for spesifically. Within an hour you find something, or go to next agent of your choice. Seems same in all cities here.
-
1. Turn the compressor 90-180 degrees, maybe possible. 2. Buy a add-on to the compressor that will direct the hot air 90 degrees left, right, or up. I seen much nicer versions than this stock photo available in Thailand, but you get the idea. 3. Move the compressor to high up on the wall, but ask Juristic office first, if this is allowed. 4. My own choice: Have a carpenter build a wooden cover, painted in a color of your liking. Will hide the ugly compressor, and can double as a flower stand or whatever you like. Not too ugly now is it 5. Search the market for a smaller size compressor unit with enough BTU. When you can afford a 2BR condo, replace aircon shouldn't be a concern for you.

Is Lazada a good place to buy an android phone (google pixel)
Shop mak replied to recom273's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Headline: Is Lazada a good place to buy an android phone (google pixel) Clear as mud. Not confusing at all. (Sarcasm). Pricewise many sellers on Lazada demand premium prices on phone brands not sold in Thailand. Then the warranty issue, and how short it often is. Most important for most, to get a authentic model, soo many fakes of all kind of electronics are sold online. But if you not worried at all, go for it. At least try buy from a store with "LazMall or Official Store". I don't buy electronics from online stores who doesn't have a physical store in country. Too many pitfalls, fakes, and warranty 7 days to 1 month only. -
OP has 5k posts here, he might be able to speak understand some thai. Else they find their best speaking nurse or doctor. If all other fails, translate can be a hit or miss. The most important for OP seems to be able to communicate that his nerves are on a all time high. Not unusual, and medical staff are used to this.
-
Treatment? Or Surgery? You expect to be hospitalized for how many days? On arrival, tell the staff you are very nervous (thai: 'groa mak') or have very low pain treshold. Don't be afraid to ask for medication to calm your nerves. Use translate ahead of arrival, so you can show the staff your request, asap. Morphine by IV, normally 2-4mg is available, also Fentanyl in extreme cases. The later will guaranteed make you pain free, if 2 doses of morphine didn't. Communicate with the staff, if you feel extreme pain, tell the staff (Thai: 'jep mak') / ('poot maak') (not pud maak) and point to the area of pain. Had many surgeries myself, and can only praise the medical staff for patient care. Surgery outcome however, is not always given. Welcome to PM me if any questions. Moderator @Sheryl is this forums medical expert, with lots of good advice. She might be around soon.

Where to find a shop in Pattaya that sell electric bicycle 26'-28'? Location please. Not interested to buy online. Prefer a shop with spare parts and longer warranty. Feedback from current owners of electric bicycle would also be of interest, pros and cons. Thanks in advance.
