Dumaguete in Negros Oriental are a very boring quiet place. Limited apartments for rent, not more expensive than Cebu city. The very small expat community, mostly Americans, meet up at McDonalds and My Way down on the boulevard. Extremely limited number of women available for a foreigner, in a very small city, where everyone sees everything! Few if any women want to be seen with a foreigner, unless in a serious relationship. Very conservative place imo. Def. not a place to go for single men looking for fun and mongering. Manila and Angeles are their first alternatives. Don't believe all you see on youtube or from any 'influencer' who try to hype a dead place. It has never been a influx of foreigners running to live in Dumaguete. Most friends who stayed there moved away within few years. Read more on the local Pi forums for more accurate info, than youtube.

+1 That was my observations yesterday as well. In the street, not sidewalk pavement as we know might be finish this year. Numerous huge orange detour blocks, many many places down beach road. Not even laughable anymore.

'Cellphone happened' to all of them. Hilarious walking down beach road after dark, and observe a huge majority of them have their face glued to their mobile phone. No benches on beach road for years now. Bars across serve as a place to rest tired feet, and a refreshment. For the big bang, soi 6 at 7pm sharp is a place you will never forget. 1000+ girls out on the road, outside their bar all fighting for your attention. They use any trick in the book, and a few you never knew. Anyones wet dream, or beyond crazy.
