Possession of more than 5 meth pills to constitute dealing
Shop mak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
From my observations, users often don't carry any pills on their body, but rush to known dealers to buy another meth pill. Which makes any person carrying more than 1 meth pill on their body, in my opinion, a dealer. Some seems happy with 1 or 2 per day, while long time users seems to pop-up many times a day. I don't think the average tourist know how many ladies who take Meth almost on a daily basis. And then users start acting out, restless, hyper active, shouting, and can become very aggressive. A huge and growing problem in Pattaya. -
Night Venue Operators Say 4 A.M. Closure Will Greatly Boost Revenue
Shop mak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not according to what other members here was told by bar owners already. They didn't expect increased earnings due to 4am closing. Except weekends, bar owners expect to close earlier than 4am, due to lack of customers. Tourists has a budget, and they can only drink so much alcohol before they had enough. Just propaganda, to justify later closing time. -
"Indeed, Mr Kitipong suggests that Section 41, Paragraph 2 of the country’s Revenue Code gives minimal scope to the Thai government to tax any income from abroad by pointing out that the existing provision does not specify that income earned in foreign countries outside the jurisdiction of the Kingdom is subject to tax at all" "Mr Kitipong suggests that if the new resolution goes ahead on January 1 2024, it will likely lead to a challenge in court, which will throw the country’s income tax collection process into confusion." Seen the huge interest on this forum, I strongly suggest people read the full story. It seems unlikely that this will take effect from 1 Jan 2024.

Luxury brands remove Blackpink Lisa’s photos on social media

He needs only 7,500 minimum for food until end of month. A desperate quick sale to second hand car shop, equals very low offers. If he want the cars actual value, he must hand over the car to the shop now, and wait for a buyer. Can't see solution in this case other than find another Norwegian willing to borrow him enough to survive (B7,500). Good luck.
-
If car is not in his name, no POA to sell it, he creates more problem by attempt selling it, illegally. Auction will decline. Sell car as parts and maybe get less than 10% value. When ex-wife wants the car back, and find out ..... I am all for help people in real emergency, but since you don't know him personally, don't you think you should avoid to be involved when ownership of car is unclear?
-
In a real emergency situation, 3 thai meals per day + 3-4 liter of water, 250 baht per day to survive.
-
If Norwegian, just above 20,000 Baht online, maybe 25,000 in a travel shop.
-
That only OP know. Since he mentioned their seamans church here in Pattaya, that might be the case.
-
His embassy will only help to contact family back home, and if they send money to Thailand, he will get it. No emergency loan from the embassy. Seamans church should be able to feed him, as a minimum. * Sell on action: https://www.collingbourne-auctioneers.com/ Used them myself for selling other things, didn't get half as much as expected. Norwegian community seems very small here, and if he don't have any foreigner friend here who's willing to feed him, then loan from a family member back home is maybe his last option?

How did you get the DNR card? Can you please give me the details? The private hospitals I been to, say they can't help me. I don't need a last will / living will, only Do Not Resuscitate. Thank you.

Phillipines Retirement Visa
Shop mak replied to Negita43's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
1) Yearly fee is US$360, while tourist visa is aprox USD500 included ACR-I card (alien identification card). 2) ECC is for stay more than 6 months and no problem to get, some wait until airport to get it (not reccommended). 3) Agree. Philippines has a much more longterm perspective, and seldom introduce new requirements. Visa on arrival was said to be increased to 59 days, maybe implemented already. They have a different attitude to tourists, and make it easier for long staying expats. I wish you good luck with your application. You are maybe a member on the PI forum as well, and have read about how much time it can take to sell a property there. Buying is easy. Selling is the problem. -
Phillipines Retirement Visa
Shop mak replied to Negita43's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
1) No. SRRV is for all age 50+. But there are different requirements. 5,000 for US Army. 10,000 - 20,000 US$ for others. If you read Links given above, you can read the specifics. 2. Yes. If you follow link above to the local forum in Philippines, they are updated on the latest info. Yearly cost aprox 500US$. And Immigration is very easy and friendly, none had a problem, unless they overstay. As you maybe know, no bank deposit required for tourist visa and no insurance requirements. Worth mentioning that few stay 3 years, many need a holiday away from: Heavy traffic, air pollution (low quality diesel) brown out no electricity, earthquakes, hurricanes, waiting lines, empty Atm's, out of stock. English overall no problem, spanish is close to tagalog, another small advantage. Please open the links given before, and read all you can in the local PI forum, and in Philippines sub forum here https://aseannow.com/forum/340-philippines/ -
Phillipines Retirement Visa
Shop mak replied to Negita43's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
@sqwakvfr From friends still there, I know that up to 9 year on tourist visas (3x3yr), is still doable. During my years there, I knew many in age group 65-75 who left the country in a hurry, when they got sick and needed further treatment (never to return). I can see why a 50 y.o would consider SRRV, but when one reach age 60, our health will decline at some point. Both driver license and bank account opening can easily be done on tourist visa, (if not directly), with a friend of a friend. What is your reason for applying for a SRRV, what advantages do you see? -

Phillipines Retirement Visa
Shop mak replied to Negita43's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Not many who choose SRRV. I moved from there before the pandemic, so did most. Most expats stayed for 3 years on tourist visa extensions. Leave 1 day, return next day, start over again. Few had SRRV, deposit from US$5,000 (US Army retirees), else 10 - 20,000 US$. Deposit can be used for buy a condo. Agent is highly reccommended by all there. https://pra.gov.ph/srrv/ https://pra.gov.ph/downloads/ Local expat forum for the latest info, and a very few members on SRRV. https://www.philippines-expats.com/ -

Entertainment Venues to Open Until 4 AM Starting December 15
Shop mak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I expect to read many more news reports like this, after Dec 15th. Russian Man Causes Multiple-Motorcycle Collision Late Night in Pattaya, Refuses Alcohol Test and Tries to Escape https://thepattayanews.com/2023/11/04/russian-man-causes-multiple-motorcycle-collision-late-night-in-pattaya-refuses-alcohol-test-and-tries-to-escape/ Bar owners reaction so far, hasn't been overly positive. Bar staff has not been promised increase in salary for extended working hours. Single tourists had their fill long before 2am, usually midnight, and priority #1 is to go home for boom-boom. This will not create more income for business owners, or the country. Just another dream. However, the many negative effects will soon hit the news, frequently. -

Getting used to live in a wheel chair
Shop mak replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If he has a 2 bedroom unit, hire a older live-in helper, for cleaning and cooking, and social interaxtion. Strictly excluding sex. Ladies are easily available also online for house call. Asians are extremely curious, so not much he can do with that. Other than reply with another topic. Is he a half-empty or a half-full glass of type? Working brain and lots of money, he have a lot (more than others) to be grateful for. Declining health are often followed by severe depression. Medication are the norm here, rather than treatment, sadly. A family member was in similar situation, and was mostly depressed unless we got him out of the house. Then life was ok again. I would start with finding him a live-in helper.
