  1. <deleted> me, read half the thread before I realised it's a dead thread from 6 years ago...I want the 5 minutes of my life back
  2. So I replied to the OP but just now read the posts above mine saying post elsewhere. If Mods are going to say post elsewhere maybe they should close the thread so people can't post anymore as I dont read every post of a thread
  3. Go watch the video again. White shirt guy broke the guards nose in the street after he was already hit with knuckle dusters. All that school boy shoving inside the bar had no punches thrown Cctv clearly shows guard with no nose blood until he was punched in the street after he laid the first punch
  4. So if a formal police complaint was all they were waiting for to make arrests why has it been 3 days since the formal complaint was made and no arrests? It takes less than 5 minutes to review the cctv tape that went viral all round the world. It clearly showed security guard threw the first punch, used knuckle dusters and planted a run up kick to the head of an unconscious man...why the delay? Note: people claiming brits were the aggressor by pushing guards is not assault in my book, who threw the first punch has always been the one who started the assualt
  5. My Mates Mum is coming to visit him and she went to travel agent yesterday in Qld Australia and they told her it's now 60 days visa exempt from June 1. Good thing she didn't book the flight yet. She will now wait until it actually happens 😆
  6. Sorry I got caught up speculating rubbish like so many other people in this thread. My actual belief is that the DTV allows 180 days per calender year for the 5 years validity of visa. It also allows one in country extension of 180 days in that 5 year validity period. This is the only thing that makes sense to me with a 5 year validity
  7. Well yeah, but that could be just unlimited entries up to it's 180 days entry stamp date (and during the optional one-time 180 day extension)
  8. That dtv site is just a made up site by some random. Why do you think it's official?
  9. So you don't know him but you state he's a true gentleman...bizarre request without proper info to enable proper donation (I'm A-)
  10. This is getting silly now. By your understanding that would make 60 day tourist visa a non-immigrant visa. Thai cabinet was talking about reducing 17 non-immigrant visa categories to 7. That is "non-immigrant" is in the title of the visa
  11. It appears you can also apply for a VoA online before travel (need to scan QR code in link) https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?p=9254
  12. Why? I'm happy it's 90 days as was enough time to set up bank and means I can apply for the 12 month extension sooner
  13. Why the headline "Drunken Bar Brawl..." it makes it sound like there was a massive drunken bar brawl flowing out onto the streets causing one guy to be hit by a car Original Pattaya Mail story headline is "Scot struck by car after leaving bar in Pattaya", much less dramatic 😆
  14. Isn't that just the UK government website rather than the Thai Embassy? https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/thailand/entry-requirements I imagine Embassies won't be able to announce it until it's gazetted.
  15. Currently Cambodia and Laos have free entry under bilateral agreements (which includes unlimited entries). Both will change to 60 day visa exempts from 1 June which does raise the question about only two visa exempts allowed by land per calender year (maybe bilateral agreements stay in place as well?)
  16. Except the lists above have several countries in both lists, which makes no sense (Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, Fiji, India, Kazakhstan, etc.)
  17. They say the DTV costs 10,000 baht but people need to take into account the horrendous exchange rates each embassy uses. A Tourist Visa is supposed to cost 1000 baht but Thai Embassy in Australia charges A$60 (non-imm O is 2000 baht but costs A$120). So a DTV at 10,000 baht means they'll charge A$600 which is really 14,500 baht at the actual echange rate
  18. I note the above says "you are allowed to stay in Thailand for 180 days per year. The visa is valid for 5 years." Doesn't this imply you can stay for 180 days every year for 5 years? That would make more sense as to why have a 5 year validity?
  19. Did you even read the OP? That's the guy at the police station that was rumored to be in a coma
  20. Isn't that item 6 Non-Immigrant L-A Item 7 is Non-Immigrant O (L-A) so wouldn't that be the O-A and the L for Long-term O-X?
  21. This DTV makes no sense as multiple sources say it costs 10k baht to get the one-time 180 day extension, so 20k baht to stay 1 year and then visa is used. So why have a 5 year validity? That only makes sense if you could get 180 days every time you entered within the 5 year validity period? Compare two options for 180 days (1) DTV - 10,000 baht - enter and stay 180 days - maintain 500k baht in bank - plus cost of Thai course; or - apply as remote worker (tax?) (2) Visa exempt method - 7300 baht - no Thai course, work or bank funds needed - Enter visa exempt 60 days - free - get 30 day extension - 1900 baht - do border run - approx 3500 baht - Enter visa exempt 60 days - free - get 30 day extension - 1900 baht
  22. Isn't "TR" the abbreviation used for the 60 day Tourist Visa as that's what my visa says (also how it was advertised on embassy sites)
  23. Now that police report has been filed let's see how quick police chief arrests security guards...as if, despite him saying they are guilty but couldn't proceed without a police report... https://thepattayanews.com/2024/05/29/british-tourists-involved-in-viral-soi-six-brawl-with-guards-found-file-formal-legal-complaint/
  24. Let's see how far their apology goes now that police report has been filed https://thepattayanews.com/2024/05/29/british-tourists-involved-in-viral-soi-six-brawl-with-guards-found-file-formal-legal-complaint/
