  1. As I said above, my passbook was updated on 20th June when my interest was paid. Bank letter was issued today 26th of June There is actually no way for me to have updated my passbook today as my fixed term deposit does not allow top-ups and I'm not withdrawing anything to then lose the interest
  2. Not true, being a fixed term deposit my bank book wasn't updated today (it was last updated 6 days ago with monthly interest on the 20th)
  3. Well that is a hugely under rated factor though. I specifically chose June as my application/renewal month for that reason, no thousands of tourists clogging up the TM7 process 😀
  4. I know but I just wanted to do it all in one go. I was expecting it to take all day but as it turned out it was only 1 hour from bank opening to leaving immigration 😀
  5. Yes, however good news is I didn't need to apply for a new TM30 with all the associated documents. They just took my formal online printout and swapped it for the tear off version
  6. Further to above, my experience getting the Bank Certification letter My Krungsri Branch is in Central Festival which doesn't open until 11am, so I chose Krungsri near Jomtien beach, which is walking distance to immigration. Bank opened at 09:30 (7 people arrived ahead of me) and I got to see Teller at 09:40 with letter provided within 20 minutes. Letter cost 100 baht (12 month statement was 400 baht but I didn't need it as first time extension). This was also a fixed term deposit account (1.8% interest) which I opened on 20 April. A lot of people had commented that this fixed term account would not be accepted by immigration but it was accepted without any comment
  7. I chose to use the very simple and fast e-visa process in Australia to get my non-imm O (Retirement) at a cost of A$120 (2800 baht). Now here's my experience at "the dreaded" Jomtien immigration today to get the associated 12 month extension Wednesday was a good choice it seems as there was zero queue at the information desk. I arrived at 10:10 and departed 10:30 all done with pick-up of passport after 2pm tomorrow 😀 Documents submitted to desk 8: - copy of Passport ID - copy of Passport entry stamp - print out of non-imm O e-visa - Bank Certification letter - copy of bank book - copy of TM30 online receipt - copy of condo chanote IO asked to see original documents - Passport - Bank Book - Condo blue book (he took copy) He then gave me back my TM30 and asked me to go to info desk and get a ticket for Desk 10. There they swapped my TM30 online receipt for the smaller one that they stapled into my passport. Copy of that and then back to IO at desk 8 (no need to wait or get new number) IO then gave me the two overstay warning docs to sign, took my photo and I paid my 1900 baht and all done in 20 minutes. While very minor for me today as no queues anywhere, this TM 30 issue could have added 1-2 hours to my day. A bit ridiculous they don't accept the very formal looking TM30 online receipt that has immigration logo's all over it (but accept a scrappy tear off handwritten page instead). Just posting to show it's not all doom & gloom. In all, this means I have 15 months stay for 4700 Baht and I have to say it was a pretty simple and stress free process.
  8. That so called new bright line test has sat dormant for years and no word of if or when it'll ever be put into legislation. You have it backwards anyway. What's proposed is If you are living in Australia for 183+ days you are automatically a resident for tax. If you lived in Australia less than 183 days you can be declared a resident if you're a citizen and stay for minimum 45 days in one of the previous 3 income years. Only less than 45 days for 3 income years straight would someone be declared a non-resident.
  9. It took you 17 months to state that?
  10. What qualifies as a minimal connection to Thailand? Does someone really need to have strong connections to Thailand to post in a "Home Country" sub-forum on a thread about cost of Alcohol in Australia?
  11. So if someone can confirm Big C then its pretty much sold in most supermarkets. Here's the Villa stock
  12. That's pretty standard info. I always get a text from ATO (via mygov) to tell me that my data has been loaded and it's ready to submit an online tax return. Tax returns are basically filled out for you now with just rental property income and any deductions to be added As for Government agencies, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) would be one as would Centrelink I assume so no big deal
  13. That's $3 a litre, much better off going the 4L for $9.99. Saves 50c a litre 😉
  14. Give it a rest mate. I'm new to this thread but you are constantly attacking this guy. And if you think Perth is in the middle of nowhere recruiting 3rd world doctors than I wonder where you are actually from? Are you an Aussie?
  15. OP says he knows 30 day extensions exist but couldn't be bothered to research such an easy process. Therefore decided to do 6 visa exempt entries back to back in 6 months. Immigration did their job and found someone living in Thailand on visa exempt entries. Suggest OP doesn't try to come back visa exempt in July as planned. I think even a tourist visa may be risky. If you researched better you could have had only 3 entries for IO to look at and saved a load of cash on flights and hotels out of Thailand
  16. So again, why do you not do a 30 day extension instead if you're just coming straight back to Thailand anyway?
  17. OP you say you've done 6 Thailand visa exempt entries this calender year which was the reason for questioning. This makes we wonder if you know that every 30 day visa exempt entry can be extended by 30 days at local immigration office. This means you only needed to do 3 entries instead of six and likely wouldn't have popped up on the IO's radar yet
  18. I uploaded an Australian bank account statement that had the equivalent of 800k baht in $A This is an e-visa applied for in country of residence so there is no way they can expect 800k baht in a Thai bank (it would also be accepted though)
  19. Time to visit China for 2 weeks if it's visa free. Pity Thailand couldn't do the same 5 year multi-entry tourist visa
  20. "China and Australia will provide each other's citizens with multiple-entry visas of up to five years for tourism and business from Friday, the Chinese foreign ministry says." "During Li's trip to Australia, he said China would also include Australia in its visa-waiver scheme, allowing Australians to visit the country for up to 15 days without a visa." https://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/china-and-australia-issue-five-year-visas-for-each-others-citizens/ua2jyxjp2
  21. Speaking of wine, that's why I moved to Thailand. I have a Jacob's Creek Sav Blanc wine addiction and it only costs $8 a bottle at my local ($6 from Dan Murphy's if I want to drive). In Thailand the same bottle costs near $30 (700 baht) so I don't go near the stuff and drink 60 baht Singha's instead 😀
  22. Thai e-visa pretty much implemented in most countries...but then again you said you were applying for a visa on arrival instead of the actual 30 day visa exempt entry so maybe do a bit of learning before you criticize the process?
  23. No, I assumed they were sun spots, he said they should be freeze burned off as they could become cancerous (never called them a specific name) Anyway, I'm in Pattaya and I have another one on my face that just appeared out of nowhere 2 weeks ago. Gets more noticeable to me every day. I'm now thinking I should do a trip to Aus to check it out since there doesn't seem to be any skin cancer clinics in Pattaya or Thailand to check it out?
  24. I wanted to reply with the still "confused emoji" but went with the "Thanks" emoji instead. I saw a documentary about 10 years ago where a guy died of skin cancer and the Wife's video 6 months prior showed a brown spot on his face that wasn't there before. They basically said that's what killed him. If that's true, how are sun spots cosmetic (my Doc clearly told me better to remove the 4 spots as they could become cancerous) Did my doctor lie to me me for peanuts (the annual skin check + 4 sun spot removals cost me only $32 after medicare)
