  1. He's a Farang, easy target, easy money, no repercussions. Thai locals are ignored, business as usual.
  2. Almost everyone you meet here is in debt that would make most of us foreigners want to commit suicide, they have almost no way of paying back the debts they have racked-up, let alone add new debt. I mean is there even a check against peoples ability to repay debt here?
  3. They better add significantly to the trough for that to happen
  4. My daughter thinks I am her personal slave, technically I am, and she is definitely a Princess 😜 I've created a monster!
  5. That's what I told my wife, we will never see positive changes in our lifetime, especially after what happen in the last election. We are decades away from even the most modest of changes, anything else is a century or more away. It's sad because other countries in Asia are quickly surpassing Thailand, either they smarten up, or they will sink under their own ignorance.
  6. The RTP is nothing more than a mafia, at least that is how it is currently run, and with basically no oversight. They should be disbanded and a new police force should be put in it's place, one with government and community oversight. Let them earn their positions by merit, not by purchasing it with ill-gotten gains.
  7. Dude, just buy a motorcycle and drive it without a helmet or license like the locals.
  8. Pretty much the same attitude I have, done with this country, let them do whatever they want. We live among barbarians, they have no intentions of becoming a civilized society. We have the same issues playing out in some demographics in the West as well, the barbarians are trying to make a comeback.
  9. Which means its doomed to failure here in Thailand, but I think culture needs to change as well, but that's obviously another doomed endeavor.
  10. Haven't been in a bar in almost 35 years, and I stand by my post, some people just have blinders on.
  11. Not sure about RTP per area, but I once did a lookup of the RTP to population ratios of Thailand vs the USA (per 100,000 population), they were almost identical. Which begs the question, where are all these RTP officers, and what are they doing all day?
  12. They really need to put together a tourist pamphlet with all these wonderful oddities, it could attract just the right people from across the globe. Should read something like "Welcome to real Sin City!"
  13. The people of Thailand will first need three things to happen before anything will change, none of which are present in Thai culture. In fact, number 3 below is so far down the list of importance to Thai people that it doesn't even register in their brains. 1) Common sense 2) Care for ones safety 3) Care for the safety of others
  14. The understatement of the year, maybe Thai's can see the obvious after all, it had to be hammered into their heads with a sledgehammer.....but hey, better late than never. Now will they do anything to fix the issue? Not a chance in Hell, now move along, nothing to see here.
  15. For this type of crime, serious penalties should be handed down, indeed... "Burn them at the stake".
  16. I consider any investment in Thailand to be like playing Russian roulette, not worth the risk.
  17. The one picture shows the front wheel embedded in the passenger side, which if he turned diagonally across the road making a right turn would leave part of the left side of the bike exposed to what you point out. I think a hit from the side would be more of a bump and the bike would be set off course, not so much damage to the car. You've been here long enough to know Thai's don't turn right like we do back in the West, they turn right diagonally heading into oncoming traffic, not by pulling up to the road then turning into it.I see the damage as lining up with my scenario, but that's just my opinion. Either case, the bike pulled in front of an oncoming car, I can't see any scenario where the car driver is at fault, though I don't know her speed, or if speed is even considered.
  18. She wouldn't have the foggiest idea what to say or do without Daddy dictating her direction and speeches.
  19. I'm thinking his parents must be real winners, where did he learn this behavior?
  20. Willing to bet it was a discarded cigarette.
  21. I know how they can fix the issue, just allow expats in Thailand to have the same rights as expats in foreign countries that the UK government doesn't currently discriminate against. Why have different laws based on where someone decides to live? They earned it, stop trying to steal it back!
  22. Exactly! The bikes frontend is embedded in the front of the car, and the car is on the proper side of the road. I still stick with my original assessment, the motorbike drove head-on into the car trying to make a right turn in front of it, or crossed the road without stopping to make sure it was clear to do so. I lean more towards the head-on collision, based on the indent in the hood and what appears to be a head/helmet impact on the passengers side of the windshield.
