    Massive Debt, Debt interest payments now $1 Trillion per year, persistent inflation, and nobody is even remotely interested in reining in spending. When the bubble burst, it will be epic, but also very bloody.

    Yup, they seem to be hellbent on scaring away foreign investment, and these types of xenophobic proposals aren't going to go down well with foreigners looking to move here.

    Exactly, this whole tax foreigners to death thing is getting out of control. I usually joke they treat us like ATM's, but now they are openly suggesting to do just that.

    I've noticed when Thai's see a dangerous issue unfolding in front of them, that they accelerate in the hopes that their Amulets will save them. Like I tell my wife, the worst thing you can do when a dangerous issue arises while driving, is to add speed to the equation.

    No, she and many others see it as a dump and land of sinners, but yes, some people in a dump also need professionals (doctors/dentists/etc) too.

    It's not just the new income tax schemes, there are also proposals to enact farang only taxes on the buying/selling of those condos and homes, and/or farang only property taxes.

    My wife asked me when we first met if I had ever been to Pattaya, if I had answered yes, she would never have dated me. To her and her friends, it is the land of sin, they wouldn't date anyone even remotely connected to that place. Keep in mind, my wife and her friends are all highly educated, I believe most of them hold Ph.D's, they wouldn't be caught dead there.

    They've been talking about a Farang tax (10-20%) on condo/home buying/sales, plus Farang only property taxes. You may wish to sell before they give that a try, it appears they are after every penny they can squeeze out of Farang's.

    Yes, but when stooges (Senators) put in place by the Junta decide the election, it's not even remotely fair to the voters.

    That would be all good if the "legal system" wasn't already corrupted, there is no justice in Thailand.

    We should be taxed based on our citizenship status, we can then file our taxes to whatever home country we hold citizenship. Then let the respective governments transfer taxes (if any) we pay to the host countries, let them fight over it without inconveniencing us. If the host countries want us to pay their taxes, then they can fight over giving us citizenship by offering us incentives. We'll call it the free market.

    Just wait until they make up more than 50% of the market, until then it's just a fad. By the time I buy one they will be better built, lighter, faster charging, easy to charge, and inexpensive.

    Not any better back in the USA, try getting ANY appointment in several months, God forbid you need a specialist.

    DTA's are still in place, but they don't cover all income, very limited actually.

    Right now it is remittance based (Brought into Thailand), they are proposing changing it to WorldWide income, meaning taxing all your income anywhere you make it, not just what you bring into Thailand.
