In Thailand it's more about looking like your doing something, and photo ops, forget anything meaningful being done. Does a merit based system even exist in Thailand? -
Analysts Predict Baht Decline if Trump Wins US Presidency
lordgrinz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I really don't have any current need to send anything, in fact, I want to avoid it for as long as possible. I've taken the stance of refusing to invest anything here, directly or indirectly. I see Thailand as a failed state, and the current environment as hostile to foreigners, not to mention internally unstable. So maybe send a little bit of play money, but that's it. -
Analysts Predict Baht Decline if Trump Wins US Presidency

I could have had over 37 at the beginning of the year, but decided to hold off all remittances until we find out where taxes here in Thailand go for expats. Maybe the end of 2025 or sometime in 2026. Been here for 8 years now, usually use Wise, for now I have some cash sitting in their Interest bearing account, for now it's sitting there waiting and growing. -

I believe my wife is in that group, but with the shortage of Nurses and especially highly educated Professors to teach them, they typically sign/contract for another 2-4 years. -
Analysts Predict Baht Decline if Trump Wins US Presidency

After I get some definitive answers from the 2025-2026 tax remittance guinea pigs, I would probably only send money here if it reaches about 37 USD-BHT. So it's got a ways to go before I get excited. -

I'm betting within a couple years it will be docked permanently next to its aircraft carrier cousin, presuming it doesn't sink first. -

If it is transferred to a private company, it will be a boondoggle, siphoned off to the Elite at the expense of the poor.- 126 replies

Thailand’s Winter Expected to Start 29 October, Colder Than Last Year
lordgrinz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Same here, I spent my whole life in New England (USA), I prefer the cold, or at least cooler than the blast furnace here in Thailand. My Ideal every day temp would be 60 degrees Fahrenheit. -

Bangkok Braces for Rising PM2.5 Levels Amid Cool Weather

Impound blatant emission evading vehicles, and confiscate all land and property of people burning illegally or factories immitting harmful pollutants. Sell these pieces of property and use it to fund medical care for those adversely affected by the pollution. -

Thailand’s vehicle production hits the brakes in a sharp downturn
lordgrinz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That would be great if Thai's only kept up on vehicle maintenance, especially outside of warranties. Most cars here over 4 years old seem to be poorly maintained, brake lights not working, blinkers not working, headlights out, dried/cracked/bald tires, etc. -
California doctor claims spicy Thai dish left her with chemical burns
lordgrinz replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I never stated that, I said I drink my coffee within one minute of pouring it from boiling. Any cup of coffee will burn you if you pour it in your lap, its coffee, its a drink you BOIL to make. Do you even drink coffee? I do, every day of the week. The woman's complaint was idiotic, she should have been laughed out of court, along with the woman mentioned in this article. -

California doctor claims spicy Thai dish left her with chemical burns

I don't serve coffee to anyone. Yes, I drink my coffee within a minute of pouring it. I wouldn't buy lukewarm coffee from anyone, I expect it to be steaming hot. -

I always boil my water before making my steaming hot cup of coffee, which is the way I demand it......why would I want lukewarm coffee?! Maybe it's just me, but maybe she shouldn't spill it on her genitals and legs. -

You do realize America is bigger than one candidate/party, or even two, though the left and right seem to think that is all there is.....both sides seem to believe "you're either with us, or against us". The US needs a reset, hopefully back to life before the internet took over commonsense.
