  1. Oops...sorry.
  2. the way to prove it has been taxed is for the tax payer to get a certificate from the tax office where the taxes were payed. That is the way it works in my home country and the tax office insists on it.

  5. Yes all the armchair AN members hiding behind their keyboards dishing out their daily drivel, those who ran away from their home countries to live in Thailand and are now critical of the place they chose to live in.
  6. Imagine the additional traffic and congestion on sukhumvit road around that area and all the sois leading onto sukhumvit rd.
  7. From the US dept of state fact sheet https://www.state.gov/the-united-states-thailand-relationship/ ''The United States and Thailand are Close Partners and Allies''
  8. No it is not.

  11. Don't know what "own nothing" means? I don't know, when I went with my wife to the tax office here in Bangkok some years ago to get her TIN, we were told by the tax office manager that for Thais her ID number is her tax number. IE TIN is a 13 digit number and a Thai ID number is a 13 digit number. Capital gains Most types of capital gains are taxable as ordinary income. However, the following capital gains are exempt from tax: Capital gains on the sale of shares in a company listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, provided that the sale is made on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and on the sale of investment units in a mutual fund. Gains on the sale of non-interest bearing debentures, bills, or debt instruments issued by a corporate entity, except in the case where the bonds or debt instruments were sold for the first time at a price lower than their redemption price to an individual. Gains on the sale of securities listed on stock exchanges in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries and traded through the ASEAN Link, excluding securities in the form of treasury bills, bonds, bills, or debentures. Capital gains and investment income earned by a resident from sources outside Thailand are not taxable unless remitted to Thailand in the year of receipt. Capital losses may not be offset against capital gains. Dividend income Dividends received from a company incorporated in Thailand are subject to withholding tax (WHT) at a flat rate of 10%. A resident of Thailand receiving dividends from companies incorporated in Thailand may elect to exclude this income from the computation of income tax and waive the tax credit referred to in the Other tax credits and incentives section.
  12. Well for many it does depend upon the level of income. Many Thais are not wealthy as most people assume. Although there is the black economy to which many foreigners contribute payments. Taxes I assume are not collected on that.
  13. This is the reason why over stayers beware.
  14. Worked and lived in Sudan, Uganda, and Zambia. Of all the people the Sudanese were very friendly. In Zambia met a Japanese Thai couple who owned a Toyota car dealership and had settled there. One time driving between Livingstone and Lusaka in the middle of nowhere our car broke down. Along came a pickup and a elderly British guy stopped and assisted us, towed us to his farm and there we were surprised to meet his Thai wife. They had settled there for many years and were running a wildlife farm and a tourist business. Of course it is not Thailand but the nature, quiet and clean air would suit those who could adapt to live a quiet life. I would estimate unsuitable for most AN members.
  15. 1) The owner of the property reports the alien? 2) The alien reports himself? 3) The owner reports the alien and then the alien has to go to immigration to update his TM30 with new documents?
  16. It was a Monty Python movie back in the 1980's
  17. Avoidance can also be seen as seeking loopholes to evade paying tax. When someone is deliberately avoiding tax with loopholes means they are trying to keep more govt money for themselves and those working tirelessly in govt positions cant perform their duties to benefit society as a whole.
  18. Tax avoidance is wrong, everyone with morals should pay their fair share if earning income.
  19. Finally a topic on which AN members with extensive knowledge can comment on.
  20. Its a public holiday.
  21. Is there any country in the world truly democratic, don't think so. What is democracy Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives. A political or social unit that has such a government. The common people, considered as the primary source of political power. Majority rule. The principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community. Government by the people; a system of government in which the sovereign power of the state is vested in the people as a whole, and is exercised directly by them or their elected agents. A state or civil body in which the people themselves exercise all legislative authority, and confer all executive and judicial powers, either by direct collective action or through elected representatives. Political and social equality in general; a state of society in which no hereditary differences of rank or privilege are recognized: opposed to aristocracy.
  22. 1st, they apparently have a special car roaming about to track and find over stayers. 2nd, they have a lot of questioning investigative spies around who can report one.
  23. People are lucky to get state pensions. In my home country they are not seen as a pension but only as a benefit paid with restrictions No benefit is paid if One has assets over USD60000 If one is not residing in the country If one is being cared for in a state institution such as a hospital etc... Oh and one gets taxed fully on worldwide income and assets.
