  2. Why would anyone want to.. The same trying to sell diluted foreign gold here and see what happens.
  3. Good to see that taxation is now a topic for the "Thailand Visa and Immigration Forums"
  4. Taxes dont discriminate on citizenship or nationality. It is residence based as in most countries.
  5. Usually the Thai ID is the TIN for Thais. I have this first hand from the Thai tax office in our area. For foreigners it is usually a tax number obtained and issued from the tax office. Pink ID number is maybe a tax number issued as a pink ID number.
  6. ''If I bring over 5-10 million baht to buy a property, will the Thai Bank 'withhold' 30% as potential due tax?'' The thai bank will not tax it, why would they. Taxes are paid on income and taxes are managed by tax offices. For such a large amount the bank may ask questions and report it to the tax office. After that it is up to you and the tax office to prove that the income is savings and if the taxes have been paid if it was required.
  7. Yes, but I guess a kind of letter could be obtained from the UK authorities to state something or if they do not at least the communication could be shown as proof.
  8. It would depend if there was a law or policy excluding elite visa holders from Thai tax otherwise everyone will be in the same boat based on tax residence. I suppose the complication of different Thai residencies and sources of income transferred into Thailand by foreigners will come to light by the Thailand govt and tax authorities who will study and work to find a solution.
  9. I concur, govt expansion and its control and minute regulation and monitoring of everybody and the misuse of borrowings and income taxes is out of control.
  10. In this day and age it should be quite easily provable. Online records and bank statements, salary slips, tax submissions etc... are available everywhere or should be obtainable.
  11. Your assets and income inside Thailand will be reported to the Thai tax office who will automatically share that info with ones home country.
  12. Again, this subject gets brought up. Thais being Thais, it is quite endearing actually.
  13. In Thailand the applicable personal allowances for tax payers in Thailand are available.
  14. Just remove all social media and everyone will calm down.
  15. Theoretically the 800000 in the bank is earning interest and any transfers to Thailand bank account any balances would also be earning some interest. To have any dealings or trying to get documents and letters with the tax authorities one needs a tax number which should be obtained from revenue department.
  16. Most other countries, tax offices and banks are quite strict with income. Anyway there are no more secrets, all bank accounts over a certain value are reported to the tax offices in many countries now. Of course most countries cant police each and every person which is why the onus is on the individual to be responsible for declaring and reporting untaxed income where one resides and is tax resident. There exists a myriad of laws, fines and interest charges should one get caught not paying tax when it should have been due.
  17. No Thailand does not tax savings, only income. Of course there should be a trail which could show that it is savings.
  18. If you are tax resident in Thailand and have not paid tax in the foreign jurisdiction because of the laws in that country then you will be subject to the tax laws in Thailand, provided the income will have been transferred to and received in a bank account in Thailand, the key here is income not just transferring savings.
  19. Did not know that he was Irish.
  20. Usually those working tirelessly in govt, both national and local, who are serving the people, are praised by "Thanking them for their service"
  21. Basically I think they are referring to a capital gain. If the taxes are paid and can be proven elsewhere then it can be avoided. If the money is not taxed in a foreign jurisdiction then Thailand tax laws would govern the taxation if that wealth was brought into Thailand if the person was tax resident.
  22. Visa cards and others taking transaction fees would approve of this message.
  23. How does everybody like feeling free in this world.....as long as you comply with all the rules of government and pay what they want.
  24. Yes, I'm sure the income from applicants fees do not entirely cover the huge bureaucracy, infrastructure and maintenance costs in and around immigration.
