Would You Trust Lazada to Buy Computer?
freeworld replied to NoshowJones's topic in IT and Computers
No, would not recommend for such electronic goods. If the item is received not working or broken it becomes very difficult to solve or send back. Rather try to plan a trip to Zeer rangsit and select, test and buy one in person.- 143 replies

Try change the channel in the router. Sometimes these android devices only receive on certain channels. If it is on auto on 2.4Ghz change it to something like 11 If it is on auto on 5Ghz change it to something 36, 40, 44, 48. See if the 2.4 and 5 ghz shows up then. I know on some of Xiaomi TV sticks this kind of problem shows up and one needs to change the router channel for the router to be detected by the device.

It is capitalism, the art of the deal, take it or leave it. Usually if you don't agree with the tuk tuk drivers price he just takes off empty, no biggie. You can always walk away and there is other forms of transport that can be used.

All this writing about nothing. When the banks are ready they will contact their account holders to provide tax numbers and tax residency details so the account info can be shared with the Thai and home countries tax offices. Why the concern about when it happens....it will happen and they, the banks when ready, will require the account holders tax residency details to report, it is coming. LOL the bank account holders here pushing the banks to ask for this info.

Yes, that creates an internal partition within the os to save any updates, changes you make etc... You dont really have access to this as it will be part of the operating system. With a 2TB hard drive the OS will take up about 15GB and you can set the persistence to max I think is 12GB. The rest of the harddisk will be free for you to store personal files, data etc... If you want to resize or create more partitions there is a software in linux called gparted. There additional partitions can be created on the remaining free space of the ext harddisk.

I agve it a try last Saturday before going out and about in the markets and was all hot and sticky and perspiring, spent the whole day out. Used this plain alum stick, just wetted the end of it and applied it. The ALUM really worked, no problem at the end of the day. I also found the plain alum sticks in the 10 baht and 20 baht shops.

It is quite easy to do. Download the linux mint iso from mint website. Download rufus from rufus website (I usually use the portable version, there is no installation to the pc) Plug the HDD drive into the usb port and format it. Open Rufus and select the iso from your pc folder where the iso is downloaded into. Create the persistence (this saves all the updates and settings and apps installed and any modifications) just move the slider over to however much you need 4,8 12GB etc... Click install and mint will be installed to your ext HDD (It may take a little bit of time to install) After it is installed close rufus. Reboot your pc to BIOS and select or set the ext usb HDD as the boot drive, save and reboot and linux mint will boot to the desktop environment. Nothing on your win 10 pc will be affected by this. If you are in Bangkok, there is only Fortune town and pantip, one of the small shops would be able to do it. Yes the linux mint installed on the ext harddisk can be installed via another pc and opened/booted on another pc, the only thing is on the other pc one has to set in bios the ext hdd linux as the priority boot drive.

Does it show in device manager or can it be seen in "disk create and format partitions"? Try linux and see if it can detect, if yes then you should be able to see the data. Plug it into other usb ports? Is it an SSD or spinning disk?

The size of the rats around Silom and Sukhumvit

Nothing like in NYC, rats the size of crocs. -
Try Mega Plaza (Multi floor plaza related to games and toys) near Wat Mankon station, they have some small stores selling such 2nd hand things on the 5th floor, maybe also other floors. This would be the first choice to try. Fortune Town mall Rama 9 on one of the floors there is a shop selling 2nd hand games and consoles. Don't know if they have PS5 but you need to go there and look and ask.

Even when there is a problem, it always says that. Try uninstall the drivers from the device manager for the BT, wifi, mouse, keyboard and all the usb drivers, and reboot the pc, drivers will reinstall and reconnect the BT mouse, see if that helps. Try intel BT and wireless drivers if it is an intel wireless card in your pc. Try a 2.4ghz mouse with a usb dongle with fresh batteries in the mouse. What BT/wired mouse is it, the best mouse for me are the Logitech ones, never any trouble.

Oh diddums, a lot of westerners are upset that their once asian paradise which they thought was solely the domain for their holidays and retirement is now being frequented by Russians, Chinese and Indians and Africans and they seem to be upset by that.- 128 replies

Don't need another notebook to try out linux. I bought an nvme ssd installed it into a portable case and connected to my pc via usb 3 and installed manjaro and endeavouros onto it, there was no noticeable diff between that and using linux on a usb. Trying out linux on an ext hard disk is a bit overkill, the usb stick should suffice for that.
