You spend hours working hard to make your money but keep in mind that you will have to regularly bribe all the local cops and trouble makers. So at the end of the day, your are working to support whom ?

Lazada, Shopee etc...only COD. Payment on delivery and absolutely no credit card details on line. Never, never purchase online with credit card details in Thailand. Not even due to the card fraud, mais mainly with all the racket on the quality of goods, parcel thefts that can never arrive. Only pay on arrival COD and you have the option to refuse if the packet is damaged or looks tampered. Never...never use your credit card in Thailand as even the restaurants here have crooks who skim cards. Always us use cash when you come to Thailand. Not practical to carry around bundles of notes I agree. But it's the price to pay for full safety. I will only bring in cash when I come as even the transfers from abroad to thai banks are becomming a nuisance. Currency Fair takes ages to acknowledge your money is received via bank transfer in Europe and then it takes almost 3 to 7+ days for the money to arrive at Kasikorn Bank. Of course every one will say it's the other one's fault. Of course there will always be the smart drunk comming and claiming he or she never had an issue. Ignore. Do thing the safest way.

Go solar if you own a house and if you can. You will amortize the costs in just a few years. Then you can run your a/c full throttle day and night for free 😜

I think that the thais in general giggle when the falang thinks he is the only man in his new thai lady's life. Not to mention that the falang is mainly the golden goose to sponsor. In many villa developpments, the bills are paied to the management and not to the government. The owner has to pay the management for the electricity and water that often leads to arguments as it is paid at a higher rate then the usual government rate. The practice is very much all over Hua Hin Hin Lek Fai in many well known pool villa developpments. Many foreigners just don't care and foolishly pay up.

Usually these blokes try to find in Thailand, all the things they did not find or get back home. Some end up drunks and it is sad. Others even when in a couple, can tend to end up as mouthy braggers, boasting all over, just because they feel a bit wealthy due to the exchange rate difference. The perfect types to avoid IMHO.

A golden rule in Thailand. Be wary and if possible, keep away from those falangs westerners posing as friendly chums and trying to engage conversations in public places. One can fall on some weirdo criminal fleeing from his home country or some junkie under some strong narcotic substance.

Totally absurd as most of the people paying with phones who are experienced in Thailand, usually have the app and the camera scan already open and it takes few seconds to pay. In fact it's those with cash who fumble in the wallet for the 1 bhat coin that's missing to sum up, that delay or those with cards who forget their pin code or the card reader that does not work are the ones who make more delay. Just plain jealousy in seeing people looking good, happy and having money to pay via a phone. Many foreigners in Thailand need to remember that they are not in their homeland. They need to learn a fundamental aspect of Thai culture that is...patience. One is fed up of those rude foreigner couples at the supermarket cash queue, getting impatient and being rude with the people in front. No wonder some get punched on their noses 😂

Because foreigner tourists are stupid and don't first check the price and pay straightaway as soon as the drinks are served. Not paying immediately and letting the tab add-up, is an open door to get cheated in such seedy bars of prostitution.

Chinese will only spend in venues owned by their own people who send back the money to the family in China through various underground methods of money laundering. That is a main chinese speciality.

To continue in the OP's line of comment, there seems a dim future for retirement in Thailand due to all the hassles from immigration and the new tax laws.
