  1. Not trained and not an attack dog - but it barks a lot. Tried many times to get it addressed - wife says we will have to move - nobody ever complained before me. Owner of this house has come and asked him to do something - he has threatened to call police on me. House other side of his is vacant. House across the road is vacant. House at the back of his is vacant. Thais dont complain - they just move. We will be moving next year - after this high season - too much trouble (and prices up) for next 3-4 months. I have a feeling his gate will be locked up one night by a padlock after I leave and he wont be able to get out at 6am and go to work - just saying. I have started catching and 'relocating' cats - that stopped him barking all night - but it still barks at everything moving in the street all day. My advice - never ever never ever never never never - buy a property in Thailand. It might be great for a while, but then one day a new neighbour will be like one of those in the OP list, and unlike back home in a civilised country, there is not a thing you can do about it here in Thailand.
  2. And if the mentality of some Expats on this forum is to be believed, they are going to get a very serious wake up call if they believe that in Thailand things work like back 'home'. Example - to get access to my bank records back home the Police needs a court order - but not in Thailand. Another - a bloke was detained in a Thai jail for 3 days because of a negative post he made about a Thai hotel (owner was realtive of a policeman?). There are so many other examples I could go for days. Reality Check - If the Thai RD wants it - they get it - and if that means holding an Expat in detention for not filing a tax return for several years while they 'take' all his assets - then they just do it. Some Expats dont seem to realise that they aint in Kansas anymore and that they have SFA legal rights in Thailand.
  3. The two worst cars I ever drove were an old Nissan Pulsar (which was new) and an MG Z. The Pulsar was a long time ago (rental car) and I never throught that it would be 'bettered' - but the MG Z that I rented for 2 weeks did the trick. The way that I look at it, all brands have a few 'duds' - even Mercedes screwed up with the original As and Bs. But going forward, I aint likely to ever get an MG - especially this showroom monstrosity - sorry mate.
  4. Suck it up Princess - face reality - you know what it is - make a plan. Ask her if she wants to move back to Thailand for a while. If she says NO. She is planning and preparing for divorcing you and taking you for all she can get. She is probably talking to a Thai woman or two, and a lawyer. Go see a lawyer and plan for the divorce - forget the kids mate - she will use them against you without any thought - and they will not want to know you when they get to 12-15 - the mother will poison your name and reputation. If she says YES. Move back to Thailand and see how things go. If there is no improvement over time, then slowly plan and prepare for a divorce in Thailand (much better to do it there mate). If things improve then you have made the right decision. Whatever you do, do NOT think that the kids matter more than yourself. Have you any idea how many single and sad 60+ years old blokes there are in places like Pattaya, and all over the western world, who spent a fortune 'looking after' their kids because it was 'the right thing to do' - but they never want to see him and rarely if/ever visit? Mate - Women use what is between their legs and what comes out of there - that is the way it is mate - sorry if you did not realise that (yet). At the best a good relationship is a balance of often opposing wants and needs in which both sides 'give'. The vast majority of women are idiots and want way more than they should - when told how they can get money from you they will often take that path - setting you up brilliantly - and 10 years later the bloke has no money because he was doing what he thought was the 'right thing' for his klids - but the moneyt all goes to the ex-wife who spendsa most of it on herself. Women are masters of self deception - they have no 'soul' as such - she can fully justify to herself financially raping you for decades and think nothing of it. Have a good long think and talk to a lawyer to get advice - do not talk to anyone else - women talk and anything you say to a mate will be 'sucked' out by his girl/wife and get back to your wife. Play it dumb and stupid - let her think you do not have a clue - we are good at that - but mate get back to Thailand either way. If/when it all goes to sheite in Thailand, then get a divorce started with an Expat lawyer and move out of Thailand - maybe Philippines - she can easily get you arrested and deported mate - yes they do those sort of things. Sorry mate - but you can spend the next 10-20 years of your life paying - or you can decide that it is over and start a new life. Up to you - but like I said - there are millions of old poor sad 50-60+ blokes with little money who stayed and did the 'right thing'. PS - if you leave - get a vasectomy - dont have any more kids mate.
  5. What they are doing is measuring their average passenger weights for the calculations mandated for additional fuel to be carried. In the past airlines used an 'average weight' model that I believe was set in the 80s or 90s - and people especialy in the West are 'heavier' now. Thai Airways will do their calculations based on the results, and they will have a lower 'average weight' than say a German or USA airline - so less reserve fuel and the costs to fly for them are lower. Will this in the future result in additional charges for obese passengers - I certainly hope so.
  6. Used TM28 less than 2 weeks ago - no problemo.
  7. TM30 is for the House/Property Owner to report Alien staying. NOTIFICATION FORM FOR HOUSE-MASTER, OWNER OR THE POSSESSOR OF THE RESIDENCE WHERE ALIEN HAS STAYED (TM.30) TM28 is for The Alien to notify change of address or a stay. APPLICATION FOR ALIENS TO NOTIFY THEIR CHANGE OF ADDRESS OR THEIR STAY IN THE PROVINCE FOR OVER 24 HOURS (TM.28)
  8. If not last time, then maybe every time going forward now 🙂 Many advantages in a Thai wife/GF - one is she can ask politely for anything I order to be 'well done please'. Once anything is delivered here - you cannot send it back - that is an insult - but leaving it mainly uneaten is OK. This aint Kansas Toto - you need to change - not 'them'.
  9. Yes mate. And before he left for his junket 'World Tour of the smiling Thai PM', maybe he left clear instructions to those working on the details - 'Dont say anything until I get back'. If so, then once he gets back and does the job he was elected to do (not just the job told to do), then maybe this issue will be addressed.
  10. Me too - just ignore him mate. Seems to me a lot of (deleted) have joined in lately, read only a few pages, and start 'arguing' about it with those of us who have been here since page 1, and have read each others posts and checked out the links we all provided.
  11. Yes you do. Calm down and have another beer - and stop reading posts on this matter.
  12. He has lived in Thailand for over 20 years and is a Thai Citizen - he is the owner of the legal company and he knows exactly what he is talking about. Planning and preparing is not changing anyhting - it just means looking into the matter and thinking about the 'what ifs'. Apples and Oranges are both fruit that grow on trees. Up to you which one/s if any, you eat - I eat both.
  13. No - never lodged a return in Thailand - and hope never to have to do that. I am going off the online lodgement document and the online lodgement guide. 080966PIT94.pdf (rd.go.th) 080966Ins94.pdf (rd.go.th) If I have misread those documents and they do not work in practice, please let me know.
  14. Agreed - preparing for what could happen is always a wise move and is never time wasted, even if that time was wasted.. Learning how to plan and prepare is an exercise that can come in handy one day. Right now I am doing two things myself. One is waiting for the Thai RD to provide clarifications and details, and maybe even following Malaysia's lead by postponing implementation for a few years, to give plenty of time to cover all the issues and release detailed advice. The other one is to bring in more this year than planned (not a tax resident in 2023), and then bring in the absolute minimum in 2024. Meanwhile I will watch as things develop - and I will not be asking the Thai RD for advice ???? Concurrently, I am continuing to check out the 'Retirement Visas' on offer from neighbouring countries. And let me tell you, with the recent clampdown announced on TM30s being in Passports, it is ridiculous how Thailand treats its 'invited guests' compared to most of the others. Seriously, Thailand has a very similar 'command and control' system over its foreign guests, that China and Vietnam do.
  15. Their kid broke his leg and they aint ever coming back.
  16. Yes you can lodge a simple tax return in English online. However, when there is DTA issues involved, no one I know of has found an English form for lodgement in the Thai RD website/s. But you must lodge any appeal aginst their decision in Thai only.
  17. I always wear a helmet and gloves and shows when riding a bike in Thailand. If you dont want to know what the new Thai Govt law/rules are regarding what is an acceptable helmet, then that is your choice, but dont preach to me and others here about how we should live our life. I was watching a video yesterday from an online lawyer, and he said that it would be wise for everybody to be aware of how these coming changes might be going to affect them. He warned that even Al Capone found out the hard way that you dont mess with the Tax Dept - and ignorance of the law/rules is no defence if you are nailed by a Tax Dept. But in the end it is up to you.
  18. For a definitive answer go ask the Thai RD because Thai tax law/rules are all over the place. If you ask a Thai tax lawyer, they will say 'depends but we will lodge a tax return for you' - and every year in the future.
  19. Family contacts. From website firstpost.com Born into a wealthy family in Bangkok, Srettha Thavisin is related to five other prominent Chinese-Thai business clans. An ally of Thaksin Shinawatra
  20. That is what I figured - and one of the many reasons I am trying to figure this all out and decide what course of action to take. Still locked into Plan A at the minute = bring in extra this year - bring in minimum in 2024 - see how things pan out in 2025. Plan B - move to another retiree friendly country nearby (Malaysia and Philippines look good). Plan C - go back to Australia (much earlier than planned).
  21. That is so very true mate - and it is so obvious to anyone that knows how things work in any Tax Dept, and how things work in Thailand. In Malaysia they recognised the disaster that was approaching when then did the same thing back in 2021. So they delayed the implementation for 5 years, and made exemptions for personal income tax returns. Hopefully there will be anough complaints and blowback (Companies, Thais and Expats), that the Thai Govt will also make qualified exemptions for personal income taxes, and also delay the full implementation. But as you have said before, they are desperate for taxes - the cupboard has been stripped bare, tourism is not charging back, funds are leaving the country at record levels, and exports are continuing to stall, and they have a 500 Billion Baht vote bribe that they have to pay for. Like you, I dont think they care who gets caught in their new 'tax net' - they are so desperate they are charging ahead like that bull you mentioned. Hopefully, sanity will prevail - Expats are not the main targets, but we could so easily get caught up in this new net.
  22. Only a fool would deny that the Tax Depot in any country does not have the ability to monitor your money brought into that country if/when they want to.
  23. Ditto. I have lived in 4 properties in Thailand (all rentals) - and only 1 of them I would even think about buying for all the normal reasons, but mainly because of the neighbours and dogs (very noisy). The only 'good' place was in an upmarketed gated community in Chiang Mai. PS - dont forget that unlike in the west where you can sell your place while staying there, in Thailand it usually has to be vacant - which means renting somewhere while waiting for the property to sell - unless you really really trust your agent and lawyer.
