I recently did a comparison from Australia and Wise are the cheapest. But Bangkok Bank are slow - did a transfer of 10K to Bangkok and 10K to Krungsri - sent both at the same time. Bangkok took 2 days and Krungsri less than 10 minutes.

I think Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank, and Siam Commercial Bank will always be OK. Right now Wise can only transfer over 50K Baht to those 3 banks - up to 2 million baht. But for the others they can only transfer 49.9K Baht (under 50K).

Testmy.net gives a true and accurate result at that time and on that day across all networks (not just local). Download speed always varies depending on baseline load - especially on overseas networks.

I have an idea. Thailand creates an informal secret 'Falang Group' only known to the senior levels of the Thai Govt and the member's identity protected under national security NDA laws. Then whenever any Thai official comes up with a 'brainwave' they must send their idea to a special non-traceable email address first - immediate dismissal if not complied with. Then all the replies and responses to the idea are quietly and privately (no loss of face) conveyed to the official who made the idea. No. They can enter (by force if need be) if they have reason to suspect a person who is engaged in a criminal activity is inside, or if they believe a wanted person is inside. They need an arrest warrant to force entry if they dont have either of those two 'just causes' - suspicion based on neighbours is generally not enough. Living illegally in Thailand (expired Visa etc) is a crime - if there is a foreigner at an address that is not listed with the local Immigration Police, they can enter by force if need be.

The average data download speed for a 5G network is 150-200 Mbps. 200 MBps - is that even possible over a mobile phone? I have 3BB fibre to the house and the most we get is 900 Mbps at the router and 280 Mbps over WiFi.

Whatever unlimited data SIM you can get - it is a great idea if/when you travel in Thailand. Hotel WiFi is often poor and a massive security risk. Starting using the annual unlimited data SIM over 2 years ago - much cheaper than any monthly plan and better speed and more data. We stream movies and sports when travelling using the DTAC annual SIM data plan. The usual speed is 6 to 9 Mbps and most streaming services work fine. We use NVidia Shield via Hotspot to phone and HDMI cable to the hotel's TV - works great.
