  1. Love it - but would any of them put their belief to the test??
  2. I am not so sure that this is the case. PWC issued this 'significant development' on 16 October. Thailand - Individual - Significant developments (pwc.com) Last reviewed - 16 October 2024 On 15 September 2023 and 20 November 2023, The Revenue Department issued No. Paw. 161/2566 and Paw. 162/2566 regarding personal income tax (PIT) for a Thai resident who brings assessable income into Thailand from abroad. This order shall come into force for assessable income brought into Thailand from 1 January 2024 onwards. According to this order: A Thai resident means a person residing in Thailand at one or more times for a period equal to 180 days in any tax (calendar) year. If a Thai resident earns foreign-sourced income in 2024 and brings it into Thailand in the same year or any subsequent year, they will be subject to PIT on that income, regardless of whether they are resident in Thailand at the time. This is obviously the opinion of PWC, and therefore not fact, but if TRD has just released this 'significant development' then that second paragraph is a huge worry for all Expats in Thailand, or thinking of living/working in Thailand in the future. My initial read is that it means even if you bring it into Thailand in 2025 or afterwards, it is taxable income. But it also 'reads' that if you earn any income after 1 January 2024, you are liable to pay income taxes to Thailand if ay anytime in the future you become a tax resident in Thailand. Surely that is not the intention and it is ridiculous that TRD would require any new Expat who becomes a tax resident in Thailand in 2030, to be liable to pay income taxes on any income earned overseas after 1 January 2024. Surely they mean that if you were a tax resident in 2024 and earned money overseas in 2024, but then brought it into Thailand in say 2026 when you were not a Thai tax resident, that money was still taxable income.
  3. Me too. 2 blokes who have a bet - if Harris wins I have to change avatar to the one given, and vica versa.
  4. My reply was ******** (someone reported it?) Take 2 - please provide the proposed avatar - mine for you when Trump wins, is this:-
  5. I think I have changed my mind on our bet @earlinclaifornia Your avatar once Trump wins - will be the t-shirt. Deal??
  6. Excellent closing summary - the case is hereby closed. Judge Grumpy declares Loslobo guilty of Harris delusions and a Trump hating bias. The sentence is ----- 4 years with Trump as POTUS (and House and Senate GOP Majority).
  7. Come on - tell us what it will be - go and get it.
  8. He is more of a 'balanced' Democrat these days. Since Obama he has very much become more willing to criticise the Dems because their policy and direction is very different. But before that he would 'die on a hill' for the Dems - times have certainly changed. IMO he is like Bill Maher and Elon Musk - and so many other 'moderate' liberals. They see that the Dems have gone far too far left - they have been 'taken over' but that radical feminist, and academic, and disgruntled minorities, which was previously their 'core' but was not their main focus - they were more their 'useful idiots' - now they run the Party and introduce their policies. Opening the Border? Remove National Boundaries? Reduce the Border Patrol and take away their powers? Crashing the Oil and Gas industries in the name of 'climate change' and causing huge industry cost increases and therefore prices to rise dramatically??? What were they thunking - and I do mean thunking.
  9. Have you decided what my Avatar will be if Harris wins? I think you taking mine for a year is still good.
  10. Fair enough too - either way it goes, I will be with you on doing that. A man keeps his word and does not renege on a deal.
  11. Yes - but he does answer some questions - like all politicians. It would be unfair to say that Harris handled the 'antagonism' from Fox - she deflected and denied and 'Trumped'. Yes - you guys got Trump on that one - should have shut up about it. It was that viral song meme that did it. But small fish in the big games and scheme of things - like Illegal Immigration, Inflation, Price of Gas, Crime, Biden, Afghanistan, Climate Change Disaster (policy taxes/costs) etc etc etc.
  12. That reminds me - I gotta clean up the second laptop this weekend - the CPU is getting hot (probably dust) - thanks for the reminder.
  13. Cheers - it is my intention to use those Annual Tax Statements if ever called upon by TRD to explain why I have not lodged any tax returns in Thailand. TRD contacting me under the current revised tax rules is extremely unlikely (I would say a snowflake in Hell). However, that becomes a whole new ball game when/if they move to a global tax system, and they decide my Pension and Superannuation is taxable income in Thailand - whether those amounts have already been subjected to Australian Taxation (as per the annual Australian Tax Returns). I believe that both The Philippines and Malaysia (and maybe Indonesia too) have made the money that Retired Expats bring into their countries, fully income tax exempt. Not income from employment (as supposed to be retired), but money brought into the country in the form of Pensions, as well as past earnings and retirement investment returns. But only as long as that money has been subjected to the taxation rules of their home country. I think and hope that Thailand will follow their approach - in which case those annual tax statements will also be very useful. Plus many other reasons I cant even think of now.
  14. Notice how that same 'logic' is missing when it comes to Kamala hiding in her basement like Biden did. Never heard a Dem supporter demand Kamala attend more events or interviews, but Trump takes a break and they think he is dying and hiding it. They recall that disaster when Clinton collapsed and they denied anything was wrong - when the best approach would have been to immediately admit she took a turn and it was because she was doing to much. I note the MSM is once again attacking Trump's health as an issue - but I also remember they poo-pooed any suggestion Biden was not fit for Office for years. Trump will take a break (he is 78) and come back better than ever for the last week IMO - he aint 69/70 anymore and fit enough to do all that traveling, the long hours, and long rallies - he needed to slow down and match Kamala's pace 😁
  15. Looking forward to you have a new Avatar after Nov5 - or will you renege?
  16. About right - and probably actually worse for the Dems. This screen grab from that link says a lot - the People of USA have had enough.
  17. Bill is wrong when he says that Fox News hates Kamala (like CNN, ABC, MSNBC etc. hate Trump). Fox News does not hate Kamala - they criticise her and expose her incompetency's, and that of Dems overall. Bill was 100% when he said she refused to answer questions about Open Border, Inflation, Biden's Mental State (and her lying about it), The Afghanistan Disaster, etc etc. All she did was refuse to answer questions and attack Trump - which is what the Dems do and have done since 2016.
  18. Good - now drop it 0.25% every 1-2 months until it matches Japan (0.25% in total).
  19. Australia the same - I get an annual statement and advice that I do not need to lodge a tax return because I am below the tax free threshold. However, I do on on-line for both myself and the Wife, so that I have an Annual Tax Return Statement that can be used for whatever purposes here in Thailand - they just love their paperwork here.
  20. Agree - however, the 'professional' advisers here in Thailand are still in the dark too. Until TRD releases their '2024 tax guide' and details of how to lodge a tax return, then it is all speculation. It would be foolish to think that any advice regarding DTAs given in Thailand is absolutely correct. Unless tested in a Tax Court, all interpretations are not definitive (including TRD) and under this system here, it is known that both TRD and Another Party will seek a Court's advice on an interpretation, rather than TRD deciding, the Party appealing, and the matter going on and on. If things do go pear-shaped, I would also seek advice from professionals in the home country regarding that DTA - it is a Inter-country Agreement - it is not 'owned' by Thailand. Therefore, what certain Clauses and Words may mean, is not at the sole discretion of TRD. If tax officials from the other Country believe it means A but TRD states it means B - then they have to sort that out (not us).
  21. Geraldo is the resident 'Democrat' on the Fox network and has been a Dems supporter for many years. That he thinks it was a disaster speaks volumes.
  22. Here is more assessment - and this from a Democrat supporter. It was a disaster 'hail mary' that failed - only done because she is dying in the polls.
