In a very dark time, it's a positive that Europe is realizing that the USA now is not their ally any more and can't be counted on for anything. The USA under wannabe autocratic God/King/Dictator Trump is clearly on the side of Russia now, actively helping Putin murder Ukrainian civilians. It's definitely a hard pill for decent Americans to swallow but swallow it we all must.

In general there is no point in sending back a dish here. Exceptions might be at higher end European food places. Just don't go back. I did have one successful send back at a Thai restaurant and that was only because they sent me a completely different dish than what I ordered. Other times I learned that their "fix its" generally were lazy efforts that made things worse and they never recooked the dish.

Also there is modest weakening like 10 or 15 percent and horrific weakening like 50 percent plus coupled with a historic stock market crash. I'm making no predictions and I think anyone who says they know what's going to happen is not to be taken seriously.

Personally I think a weak dollar is much more likely than ending SS for people with active claims.

The posted video. As I said I've found his stock advice brilliant in the past. In this case the picks are based on the dramatilc extreme scenario happening which is impossible to predict yet. Keeping on the theme of WARNING expats that changes might be happening, this video suggests that MASSIVE changes might happen related to radical dollar weakening, that if they did, would blow a significant number of dollar based expats out of the water. Remember, Trump as he has already proven on many fronts, is very much into blowing things up in a big way. I know this video might sounds sensational and I will be accused of fear mongering, but personally I trust the source for stock market advice. I followed his specific advice before to my benefit. I'm not saying and he's not saying either that this massive blow up WILL happen. But it would be silly to be sure that it won't happen.

Well I can see in your case you have good hedges against a devalued dollar. But it's obvious for many typical expats expecially retirees that remit their dollars annually for living expenses in Thailand a significant dollar decline would be a big hit.

I'll start this out with this link, but I have recently seen the same news in multiple credible sources so I believe it. Obviously this could have a major negative impact on dollar based expats as well as many businesses globally (where the impacts might be good or bad depending). It seems the only question is whether Trump succeeds in his dollar weakening goal and by how much.
