  1. Yes he could have with nukes. But he doesn't want to use nukes because of MAD.
  2. Well I agree with premise that the transactional cultural thing might be great as a tourist but kind of bad as an expat I wonder how it compares to being gay living in the Philippines. I've only been a tourist there but I got the impression that because of more English and more of a western influenced culture that things could more easily be more sincere and less transactional. Could be wrong. I have a funny story. While I was still a tourist I had a long term thing with a Thai and an expat told me if I moved here someone like him wouldn't give me the time of day. I didn't understand then. Now I do.
  3. I think we know the hype. For foreigners anyway, you won't have any problems being accepted for being gay. You'll likely have other problems but it won't be because you're gay. For those so inclined there is the readily abundant commercial scene in the expat havens, as well as the apps. So does that make Thailand a "paradise" for gay foreigners? Perhaps not quite. At the end of the day, does the commercial thing corrupt the attitude of Thais making it very very hard for gay foreigners to have anything other than transactional relationships here whether explicit or covered up with face saving rationalizations? I got this idea by watching a video from an American talking about best countries to move to for gay expats, and he was suggesting certain European countries are ultimately better than Thailand because the interactions could be more authentic and that Thailand was particularly extremely corrupted by the commercial thing. A bitcoin for your thoughts?
  4. He's always warning this. He's always warning that. He's squawking now like a headless chicken. He's feeling the heat now baby.
  5. I wouldn't literally call the convicted felon his puppet but yes there is no way if Putin is still in power that he will quit his war of choice before the U.S. election.
  6. Npt endorsing this one yet as I'm in the middle of it.
  7. You want to live in a world where fascist dictators with nukes can just steal foreign lands?
  8. Good reasons to not want to kill or die for Putin.
  9. Well that's academic but NOW the "collecitive west" as imperialist genocidal fascist dictator Putin likes to call it most definitely IS capable. The problem has been not lack of capability but willingness to commit to victory for Ukraine and willingness to ignore the constant "red line" threats coming from the Kremlin.
  10. The main problem with retiring here is no path to permanent residence. It's way way too early for people to panic about the tax thing. It could easily turn out to be nothingburger for the vast majority of retired expats.
  11. Fayetteville Arkansas has come again on my radar. A tad more expensive than ideal for me, but it's a place where it's possible to live without a car, has lots of ethnic restaurants including Ethiopian, and being the home of a big university the energy and arts and cultural events that brings. Plus relatively mild weather. Arts and culture in Arkansas? Sure, why not?
  12. As I'm retired this list interests me and I reckon others as well. Many of these would fit into the D list category as far as lesser known and lower cost but you'll have to do that filtering yourself: Best Places to Retire in the U.S. in 2024-2025 | U.S. News (usnews.com)
  13. In any case most likely the main thing fascist dictator Putin is waiting for is the US election Obviously if Trumo wins its a huge boost to him and vice versa.
  14. Ritter is a child sex criminal and propagandist for genocidal fascist dictator Putin. No problem.
  15. If the west had stopped Hitler (and Stalin) at the early Poland phase WW2 could have probably have been avoided. Putin like Hitler respects one thing. Force.
  16. Alex Jones is the scum of the earth.
  17. yes he's a very peaceful and reasonable man. Uh huh.
  18. Putin doesn't want peace. But he wants the world to think he wants peace. The useful idiots for Putin will buy anything he dishes out. As always, he wants to completely erase Ukraine, either swallowing it completely or making it a slave state of Russia (like Belarus). He's weaker than ever, that's why he made this BS offer.
