But Americans are U.S. tax residents even if they've never set foot in the U.S.

Billionaires, sure but regular people under the delusion that Trump cares about them -- suckers and marks.

Elon Musk frenzy : It’s time for a conversation on right-wing violence!
As far as the Trump voters, some people voted for the fascism, and some people just voted for fake promises of lower food prices. We're getting the former.

Fidelity new login step OTP = US mobile number needed. Good options?
Do you know for a fact that Fidelity accepts Google Voice? Many U.S. financial firms do not.

You're trippin' in the maga bubble, brother. www.forward.com/fast-forward/362855/bannon-said-nazi-influenced-his-world-view/ Bannon Said Nazi Influenced His World View – The Forward Steve Bannon apparently referenced an infamous Italian fascist thinker as influential on his own ideology in a talk he gave at the Vatican three years ago, continuing to raise alarms about the extent of connections between the chief White House strategist and the far-right fringes. Bannon made passing mention in that address to Julius Evola, who actively wrote under Benito Mussolini’s regime and afterward, espousing a philosophy of Traditionalism that presented concepts like equality and progress as false ideals. His work has been taken up in the past decade by leaders of the “alt-right,” with the white nationalist Richard Spencer praising Evola as one of his intellectual fathers. Evola has also been adopted by far-right parties in Europe, including Hungary’s Jobbik and Greece’s Golden Dawn. www.huffpost.com/entry/steve-bannon-camp-of-the-saints-immigration_n_58b75206e4b0284854b3dc03 This Stunningly Racist French Novel Is How Steve Bannon Explains The World | HuffPost Latest News This Stunningly Racist French Novel Is How Steve Bannon Explains The World

Been with Fidelity OVER 45 years. I'm still spoofing them that I'm a U.S. resident although I have heard that they are no longer closing existing international people but there are restrictions such as not being able to buy Mutual Funds but you can still hold them to sell later. But you can buy ETF and stocks.

Yeah, the cost of getting resettled in another country would be much worse than the Thai tax for me. That said, I really think Thailand should consider granting some kind ID to foreign tax resident taxpayers that would be required to be honored everywhere that double pricing is now the game. Not a driver's license. A specific care for that. On the other hand, I suppose that would need to be updated annually so perhaps not so practical.

Thanks. Interesting. So is Fidelity now requiring SOME kind of two factor for all logins?

Avoid to pay tax
As with everything, tax impacts are an individual matter. Clearly global taxation could be a live in Thailand deal killer for many expats, but personally (as long as social security income remains excluded) it wouldn't be so bad for me.

How does getting voice verified work exactly with Fidelity? So you call in everytime? Does that involve talking to a human every time or is it an automatic system once you have set it up? I kind of like the idea of voice verification. I have the same issue -- no U.S. mobile to get texts. A question, when you log in to Fidelity from Thailand, do you log in from Thailand or use a U.S. VPN? Maybe that triggered the extra demand? Personally, I have a way to do a real U.S. login without VPN (a device set up for that purpose in the U.S.).

President Jimmy Carter dies at age 100 at an "interesting" dark time in U.S. history
Of course it's Trump and the entire maga fascist movement. Veddy Dark indeed.

As far as remittances to Thailand, correct. As far as economic activity IN Thailand (working, business, rental income, etc.) it's irrelevant if you're a Thai tax resident -- you'd still be subject to Thai tax.

Trump never appealed to me anyway.

President Jimmy Carter dies at age 100 at an "interesting" dark time in U.S. history
Carter's parting "gift" to the incoming demagogue elect. As indicated in the OP -- yes there is something "interesting" about the timing of Carter's death. About the Panama Canal, it really should be the Colombia Canal as American imperialists who I'm sure Trump would admire, separated Panama from them.

A Trump fan calling Biden a narcissist. Hilarious.

Carter will receive a state funeral (in D.C., Atlanta, and Plains) and lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda. The Carter family has invited President Biden to give a eulogy (at the National Cathedral). There will be a national day of mourning January 9. All government agencies and the stock market will be closed.

President Jimmy Carter dies at age 100 at an "interesting" dark time in U.S. history
Yeah for a while that was a progressive position to take, but without knowing the details it's hard to believe Carter maintained that support after learning about the Khmer Rouge atrocities. Heck, my mother sang at a school in America where The Internationale was sung daily back when supporting the Soviet communists was considered an idealistic humanistic position. I reckon many Trumpists are going to be similarly embarrassed later when they fully see what their fascist leader actually does with so much power.

Carter was nothing like Wallace. Sure I know Wallace. I did a video project covering one of his campaign rallies.
