If the US and the west caves to the authorisatarian axis power of Russia, Iran / Hamas / Hezbollah, China, North Korea and Putin's inside man Trump, the eventual degradation of quality of life in the US and west will be exponentially worse than increased debt. To add the Ukraine aid is mostly not increased debt. It's sending arms that need to be replaced anyway.

Very good point which I am well aware of. College and uni towns often have a lot to offer although most of the better ones are above D list level. Madison WI is often listed as one of the best places in the country to live and/or retire but it's too freakin' cold for me. It's very true that very few states are solid blood red. There are always blue or mixed islands within them. But again these D list "dumps" are mostly red.
