Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
Jingthing replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
It might last for years. -
It covers all grades. Parents can sue the schools if they don't like anything that happens in class in all grades. Perhaps a student class project. A book report. A teacher that is out or has been outed. That is fascist big brother stuff. Ignorant intolerant parents watching everything every day. Right wing kids recording on cell phones. These right wingers want to cancel everything LGBT under threat of bankrupting schools. So out of fear there will be a big chill and they win. These laws just like anti CRT laws are totally unnecessary and are being passed for toxic political culture war reasons only.

Not following you at all! The risk is already there if Putin continues to lose. -

Not following your logic. Nobody is happy that thanks to Putin there is now a small chance that we are in the nuclear end times, but that is the situation. https://www.businessinsider.com/tactical-nuclear-weapons-escalation-us-russia-war-animated-strike-map-2019-9?op=1 A terrifying new animation shows how 1 'tactical' nuclear weapon could trigger a US-Russia war that kills 34 million people in 5 hours -

Actually his ideology and now actions are genocidal towards Ukrainians. His invasion mirrors Hitler's of Czechoslovakia. -

Negotiate? You mean surrender. Putin deserves nothing in Ukraine. -

Nobody is willing to be nuked. If Putin even drops a mini nuke which is possible but very unlikely the chances of that sparking an escalation to global nuclear winter is likely. My understanding is that while Putin may be insane enough there are others that have the capability to abort. -

Yeah I also don't think Russia has a path to recovering from this. The hundreds of thousands of younger / brain drainers / dissident Russians that have gone splitsville may have inadvertently made a permanent move. Russia as we knew it is basically over. -
I'm up to 85 percent now. Sorry it took me a while to get very good at playing. Now you go and do a superior dance.

So are y'all still playing Wordle? I am and I'm getting better at it. Now I have a 25 day streak but its happening on the last try more often than I'd like. There was a word with no vowels That surprised me. I have an idea on how they could monetize it. Suppose you have a long streak but mess up one day. It can happen. Wordle could say pay 5 dollah and you keep your streak! Duolingo does exactly that.

Correction Of course I meant self censor not self censure! https://www.washingtonblade.com/2022/04/05/ohio-introduces-its-own-dont-say-gay-bill/ NATIONAL Ohio introduces its own ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill “Ohio’s Don’t Say Gay bill is an insidious attempt to chill & censor free speech in classrooms- lawmakers are trying to erase LGBTQ+ people”

Yeah I know. It was bizarre. I think it was probably just a weird mistake by taxact but they're a big company so that's surprising. So I think I have an extension until October but no thanks to taxact I'm not entirely sure. -
You don't seem to get what these laws do. They are chilling to any kind of speech by anyone on any aspect related to all aspects of LGBT in all grades. When I said these vile bigoted laws intend to erase LGBT people and history that's exactly what I meant. These are clearly fascist laws. Imagine if they were targeting Jews.
-
These bills force teachers to self censure in ALL GRADES to avoid lawsuit risks. We all know these vile laws that Putin would love are targeting LGBT. Suppose a student wants to do a class presentation project about Harvey Milk? Too risky to allow. One bigot parent and the school is stuck spending legal fee money they don't have. Thus because of lawsuit risks LGBT anything will be cut in all grades including massive anti LGBT book banning which is already happening. You aren't aware of the high rates of LGBT youth suicide? https://www.thetrevorproject.org/resources/article/facts-about-lgbtq-youth-suicide/ LGBTQ youth are not inherently prone to suicide risk because of their sexual orientation or gender identity but rather placed at higher risk because of how they are mistreated and stigmatized in society. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_among_LGBT_youth Research has found that attempted suicide rates and suicidal ideation among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) youth are significantly higher than among the general population.[1][2] The passage of laws that discriminate against LGBT people has significant negative impacts on the physical and mental health and well-being of LGBT youth; for example, depression and drug use among LGBT people have been shown to increase significantly after the passage of discriminatory laws.[3] By contrast, the passage of laws that recognize LGBT people as equal with regard to civil rights, such as laws supporting same-sex marriage, may have significant positive impacts on the physical and mental health and well-being of LGBT youth.

The idiocy of these atrocious right wing bigoted laws really knows no bounds. They don't know what gender identity is. They don't know what Critical Race Theory is either. Yet they're on the warpath! Test this -- approach any random right winger that is against CRT and ask him to define it. Ignorance and bigotry so often go hand in hand, and these regressive repressive right wingers are trying to control the education system! With the don't say gay laws, the right wingers want to make LGBT people and history invisible and force teachers to self censure in the extreme to avoid lawsuits. Similarly the racist anti CRT laws seek to do the same thing about race. Slavery? We don't talk about that! We could get sued. What Is Gender Identity? Well as I always do I just filed for an extension on taxact.com. But there was something weird in the introduction this time. The general deadline is April 18. The automatic expat deadline is June 15 The if you file an extension deadline is October 17 All above normal but there was a mention that if you file an extension and you're abroad the deadline is actually AUGUST 15?!? That doesn't make any sense. Why isn't it in October as usual?

I totally agree but it's also not fair to suggest only a small percentage of Russian people share complicity in this disaster. -
TurboTAX without a verifiable USA phone number.

Doesn't that need to be activated first in the U.S.? -
They run out of the dish so presumably it gets removed from the menu when that happens.

Update on my experience with taxact.com in relation to requirement for US CELL phone number for 2FA. Well, I just logged in successfully for the first time since last October. I've been with them for years and they know I live abroad. I was able to login with an EMAIL based 2FA. I was prompted to update my info including a cell phone number (it didn't specify US based) upon login but I just clicked LATER. I have no idea yet whether this cell phone issue will come up late up actually filing. Cheers. -
Vile anti LGBT bigotry now on the rise nationally. Yes, it really does look like we are going BACKWARDS. Anti LGBT civil rights legislation being proposed and passed in red states nationally. Violence and murder of LGBT people will increase. Discrimination (never protected under national law) in housing and employment against LGBT people will increase. Suicides by LGBT already horribly high will go even higher. Why Is the Right Bringing Back Anti-Gay Talking Points? (nymag.com)
