Thailand Faces Economic Question: China and EV Cars
WDSmart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I've searched online for all these cars and even exchanged emails with some of them. \All the ones I am interested in do not come in right-hand drive. The price is not the issue; it's the type of car. I want a mini-mini car that will seat two, have a little storage room to accommodate a golf bag and some groceries, and can go at least 70 or 80 kph, preferably 90, on the highway. If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know. -
The global rise in antisemitism (not "anti-Semitism," which refers to "Semites," which includes Arabs) should more accurately be termed "anti-Zionists." Zionists are the extreme, militant, right-wing faction of Jews who want the total genocide of all non-Jews in the land that is now called Israel and Palestine. From what I can tell, most Jews, and even most Israelis, do not want that, but right now, under Netanyahu, Israel is being controlled by Zionists. Unfortunately, not everyone understands this and just sees the military actions being committed daily by the Zionist-let IDF in Gaza as atrocities being committed by Jews as a whole, and as a result, have a growing hatred of all Jews - antisemitism.

Thai Woman Missing In Switzerland Found: Embassy
WDSmart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Here's the latest news I found. It looks like the Thai embassy in Berne, Switzerland, is satisfied that she has really been found. "Late Friday night, the embassy shared the long-awaited good news. “Noon’s family has been notified by Swiss police that she and her companion have been located.” The couple had apparently left Switzerland during the search, which complicated efforts to find them, reported Bangkok Post. With the discovery of Nantiwa and her boyfriend, both reported to be in good health, the embassy announced it would issue no further public statements and expressed gratitude to all who assisted in the search." Thailand Faces Economic Question: China and EV Cars
WDSmart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Seriously? Every single EV I have seen or been in has been RHD. Not sure if you live in a parrellel universe? @josephbloggs or anyone else: The EV I am interested in is a very small "mini-EV." An example is the Wuling Nano EV made in China. Here is a link to it: Made in China 2023 EV Car Automotive New Energy Electric Car Wuling Nano Electric Vehicle - China New Energy Vehicle and Electric Mini Car (made-in-china.com). I've checked on it and a few others like it, and they only come in LHD. If you have found any very small mini-EVs with RHD from any country that I could buy in Thailand, please provide a link. I'd appreciate that a lot. -
Thai Woman Missing In Switzerland Found: Embassy

"Switzerland recognizes four languages as so-called “national languages,” and while speakers of these languages can be found throughout the country, the four languages are largely confined to specific regions. The most widely spoken language in Switzerland is “Swiss German.” Spoken by just over 60 percent of the population, its speakers are concentrated in the northern, central and eastern parts of the country. Swiss German or Schwyzerdütsch as it’s called by locals, is a collection of Alemannic dialects no longer spoken in Germany or Austria. So take it from me, if you speak standard German then you will have a hard time understanding Swiss German!" Languages of Switzerland - Wikipedia -

Thai Woman Missing In Switzerland Found: Embassy
WDSmart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
In my first post on this subject, I also suggested the translation might be misleading. But there are many other explanations for the wording. I also believe what it means is that the Swiss police found out she left the country and have concluded their investigation there. However, it's also possible they continued to look for her and found her, but either they do not believe it is within their obligation to reveal her whereabouts to the press/social media, or she has asked them not to. So, we'll all just have to hang on and wait until we get another, more detailed report on this woman's whereabouts and status. -

According to the Swiss police, she has "been found." Why do you think you know better than they? I, too, think their quote means, "We found out that she left Switzerland, so our responsibility to find her ends there," but it could mean, "We found her, but will not reveal her whereabouts to the press." -

Wrong! The Swiss Police only found that they have left Switzerland some time ago, probably by checking immigration or airlines. She has not been found, nor does anybody (I assume) know where she is! Not wrong... That was a quote by the Swiss police. They are the ones who claim "she has now been found," not me. Now, maybe by "found" they mean they have "found" information about her; or maybe by "found" they mean they have actually located her but are not revealing her whereabouts or status because that would be an invasion of her privacy; or maybe the "has now been found" has been mistranslated from Swiss to English somehow. But, whatever the case is, my post was not "wrong." -

The story in the link to the Thia Newsroom only says: "Fortunately the Swiss police have informed her family that she has now been found and had left Switzerland to travel elsewhere with her foreign boyfriend a while ago." ...and: "On April 24 Nantiwa sent Fon a message asking her to transfer 430 baht but did not say what she needed it for. On April 26 she called the family and cheerfully said she was fine but since then she had not contacted them which is unusual as she usually gets in touch every two to three days." So, no real information on where she is now or if she is okay. -
Thailand Faces Economic Question: China and EV Cars
WDSmart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Also, all the Chinese EVs I've looked at (mini-EVs) only come in left-hand drive. A car like that can be registered and driven in Thailand, but right-hand drive is what is normal here. -
After Nearly a Decade of Trump, America is Fatigued and Anxious
WDSmart replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I don't think Biden's either senile or a moron, and he's our elected president. He's not my first choice for our next president, but I'll vote for anyone on the Democrat ticket if Trump is the Republican nominee. -

I agree, and that's what I thought first about him, too. I could never imagine anyone actually voting for him for president or for anything! Also, the fact is, in both his presidential contests, including the one he won, he did not get the majority of votes in the USA. He was elected by the Electoral College. You can read my thoughts on it here: Rung & Bill: US Electoral College - Opinion (billsmart.com), which I wrote in 2016, well before Trump was elected. -

My choice would be Pete Buttigieg. In fact, he would be my first choice for the next president, but for obvious reasons, I know his nomination will never occur. -

If you think that is the case, we all ought to be very concerned about who they choose to run with them as their vice president. -

If "Dozy Don" wins the presidency again (honestly), or even if (when) he gets a large amount of votes, my respect for my home country, the USA, will vanish. Why would anyone want to live in a country where as much as 40 to 50% of the voters would support someone like Trump? -

WDSmart replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I hope Trump's control over the MAGA group gets destroyed and he is eliminated in any way that works. As for the rest of your post, I pretty much agree. I agree that our loss of unity can be blamed on the growing economic division. I blame that on capitalism. In a socialist economy, the total wealth (not money) of the society would be controlled by the government and used to provide everyone with what they needed (as much as possible). There would not be a division based on wealth. I think a part of many of the other divisive attitudes (racism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia, etc.) are prompted by this division of wealth or are at least exaggerated by it. And again, I think the urban/rural divide is societal based. The rural areas are conservative because they are satisfied with their lives and just want to be left alone, and the urban areas are more liberal because they are unsatisfied with their lives (mainly due to capitalism) and want things to change. Those are just my off-the-cuff responses to your post. I haven't really thought them completely through and don't intend to. Trump is the immediate problem, IMO. I agree with your last statement, except I don't expect any "leader" to heal the divide. I believe it will have to be more of a societal effort where the community is the force that heals the divide. And I agree that I don't see that happening in this election cycle. Unfortunately, I anticipate that neither side will accept the election results if they lose, and there will be a lot of violence. I will watch all the violence on CNN from my easy chair in my home, safely isolated in the mountains of Thailand. -

I haven't been back to the USA for about 20 years, and right now, with all the social unrest, I doubt if I'll ever return there. I don't consider everyone who disagrees with me on political issues deranged. I am a far-left liberal, but I can certainly appreciate many conservative political views. An example of that is before Trump, I did not support the Second Amendment, but now, because of him, I do, and I wake up every day hoping to hear on CNN that someone has exercised their rights under that amendment concerning Trump. However, my priorities are focused on societal issues. Your last sentence, in contrast, does show me where your priorities are—the economy—money, money, money! I am an anti-capitalist and a confirmed socialist. So, yes, I would probably have a lot of disagreements with you if we discussed politically associated economic and social issues, especially when they include Trump. He (Trump) has certainly succeeded in breaking whatever unity we did have in the USA into two distinct, opposing groups. I admit I am certainly fully in one of them and don't know how this division can ever be healed. -

Yes! It's been horrible, and I don't think it's even close to being over yet. When I was growing up and living in the USA, I always knew there were racists, sexists, xenophobes, fascists, and other dissidents, but I thought they only made up maybe 10% of the population. Now, it's apparent they make up as much as 40%! They must have been there all the time. Trump didn't create these people; he just gave them permission to crawl out from under the rocks they've been hiding.
