  1. Hmmm I've pimped out a few bikes and scooters over the years. My first up mods on my next bike would be: (In this order) Replace piss weak horn with Stebel Nautilus air horn. About 500B off Lazada Replace headlight bulbs to LED if not already LED as well as brake light Replace standard disc pads to sintered pads Put better rubber on the wheels. I like Metzeler but they ain't cheap. Michelin City 2 are OK on scooters. Replace levers to colour coded alloy ones. Install LED strips that incorporate DRL and Indicators (Pure bling bling). Aftermarket alloy footpads There are quite a few other aftermarket mods that can be done on bigger bikes. I have found Lazada to be your friend. Lots of bling and minimal cost. But don't skimp on safety items ie brakes and tyres. Good luck!
  2. Dammit phone is going nuts... I get the impression that the locals don't give a damn. They need plastic to do business and to hell with the environment. I'm no greenie but I am shocked by lack of cleanliness/ pride in their own backyard.
  3. I've just returned from 5yrs in NZ. Previously I was living out in Mae Rim for 6-7 years. I'm now down in Korat. And my what a change. I cannot believe the amount of plastic rubbish everywhere. Most people say NZ is green but I doubted that as I even saw way to much rubbish there. This place is terrible. I get the im
  4. That's very interesting as I'm looking at starting work in the mines but can't find any direct flights. I know Air Asia are starting direct flights come September which will be a godsend. Can you divulge more info?
  5. If I'm a parent or not is none of your concern/business. I was raised on a farm and went to school where corporal punishment was an option. Sometimes I got punishment that I deserved, other times maybe not. However, from all that and time in the military I've learnt many a thing. Physical violence isn't necessarily the answer to everything. There are rules and there are penalties if you break said rules. If you can't do the time then don't do the crime. In this instance I agree that the teacher has overstepped their remit. Unknown what this child has or hasn't done. What is the school policy on corporal punishment? Are the parents aware of the policy? At my school, teachers may administer punishment however it had to be recorded and approved by the senior teacher / headmaster. (This was back in the 60-70s). Is this still applicable today? That could open a huge debate/discussion. We are all aware of the saying: "Spare the rod and spoil the child" Sometimes I'm a firm believer in it, other times less so. On the basis of this report, the teacher was definitely in the wrong.
  6. Well the redheads got good norks.
  7. Seems like he's got a taste for Thailand, or one of the many delights.
  8. Did you know that you can now also buy baseball caps with the peak at the rear? Saves having to turn them around...
  9. Nothing quite like a woman scorned... Maybe she got her own back by shrinking his uniform in the wash. My gawd the trousers are at breaking point, best he doesn't sneeze or fart. Could be dis-arse- terous.
  10. Borrow the rattan from Singapore... a few strikes with that will surely sober up some of these idiots. Maybe the Swiss would like a taste of it too...
  11. What the hell was this guy thinking? Does he have a death wish or something? I am sure there will be retaliation of some sort from the local community. Very sad state of affairs indeed. Would this man do the same back in his homeland? If not then why do it here? If yes then lock the miserable SOB up for a long time and feed him rice with fish sauce for the period.
  12. Yep it ain't the 60s now. You can't get away with that stuff. It's a fine balancing act for sure...
  13. Damn Lazada and their prices go up and down like a whores drawers! I got a notification this morning stating it was just over 3k. Which was a very good price. Must be the cookies... Recording what you're looking at then up the price. But either way, yes I enjoyed them. May get another set if we decide to stay.
  14. Yes Parker did always seem a bit dodgy.... well he did have a very big nose! (Don't worry I won't break into Monty Python stories). Didn't know Windsor Davis was tied into it all... amazing. There were a lot of 'kids' programmes back then that seemed harmless enough. Nowadays people bring up all the so called alternative meanings from those and many other programmes. Magic Roundabout, Captain Pugwash to name a few more. Apparently innuendo was rife. Not that I noticed at the time.
  15. Oh... Marina, not bad for a puppet or was she a marionette? Yes quite the looker. Capt Scarlet was like the James Bond of puppetry. Did he also do Joe 90?
  16. I was educated by a engineer blogger when back in NZ last year. Not all stainless steel is non magnetic. It depends on the percentages of alloys used. Hence why your 'non magnetic' saucepan may in fact work on your induction cooktop. Check out Lazada, the 10 piece Meyer Bella Classico is down to approx 3k now. Good set.
  17. Produced/Directed by the same guy that gave us UFO. That TV series scared the living hell outta me as a kid. Was well ahead of its time. Fairly lame by today's standards but in its day it was good. S. H.A. D. O. Moonbase Alpha Oh and don't forget the Angels, now they were hot! Gerry Anderson. What a legend.
  18. There is some cookware that have sandwich base. The outer layer could be aluminum/stainless steel or any other alloy/metal. It's what's sandwiched inside that makes a lot of this cookware work on induction cookers. And yes induction works by using the magnetic fields or magnetism of the cookware. Rapidly changing magnetic fields produce heat. That's about as much as I know on the subject. No doubt there are more knowledgeable folk on AN.
  19. I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating chips.
  20. Central may still stock Meyer brand of pots and pans. Meyer have a 10 piece set of the Bella Classico model which I used for several years when living in Chiang Mai. You can also find them on Lazada for around 4000baht. Good pots with a heavy base.
  21. The boy won't see one baht of the 5000. But his dad (If he's still about) will be well stocked with Lao Khao for months. Maybe I'm a bit too pessimistic.
  22. Ouch.... that was a nasty crash. Hopefully the surviving child will be well taken care of. Not a good thing to happen to anyone.
  23. It's very easy to bump a vehicle whilst on a motorbike. You hit it generally with your knees. If you were to do it with handlebars, you are more likely to crash.
